  1. Again, you only need to replace the ears on the MRCE if you want 'Elite' status. A basic out of the box MRCE is acceptable for 501st standards.
  2. Only ANH & ESB helmets may have screws fitted. ROTJ lids didn't have any. However, you don't need to have screws on any helmet for it to be 501st accepted... they are only needed on the relevent helmet if you want to go 'Elite'.
  3. I lined 2 deodorant caps with approx 3mm thickness of blutack and then added the speakers. Caps were then placed behind the hollow mic tips and then a bit more blutack used to seal any potential gaps inside the bucket. I have 45mm mylar speakers, not the small ones that fit in the aerators.. Hope thats makes sense..
  4. Not familiar with the Skullworx kit, but had a similar issue with the ROM/FX. Depends on where the speaker is located. I have a full in bucket setup and had to mount the speakers in dynamat (automotive sound deadening material). Worked a treat. Also used to use a product here in the UK called 'blutack', used for sticking up posters. Thing is it makes the bucket dam heavy.
  5. Defo looks like an MRCE, but also looks like it's had a few right hooks from Lennox Lewis... face looks totally off, even to be an accurate lid. Ears look MR too, they sit too low, as the accurate buckets have the ears sitting up closer to the brow trim... can get a bus in the gap on that one..
  6. There are a few members in the UKG that reside in the Kent area... If you do get no joy there, I'm just along the coast in West Sussex.
  7. Never had a problem with the gray TBH.... up until they changed the colour of it. For some reason, the new #5 is lighter, and seems more watery.
  8. Wow, black defo sets off the MRCE very nicely. Would love to get myself another, but the price has gone up from the usual UK supplier...
  9. It also helps in stopping people from seeing you through the lenses..
  10. Never dealt with or even been on his website... never want to either. To me he has always come across as a very knowledgable chap, but also as a 5yr old kid that won't share his toys.. The latter has always outdone the former in that respect....does anyone know his actual age ?? lol.. Just can't understand why the RPF has kept him on though... he's had more rucks with members on there than anywhere else. One thing that has always made me laugh is that he hates recasters.... at the end of the day, he is one too..
  11. He's here : ---------- HTH.
  12. You seek John Danter on these very boards. He offers accurate ears and are a perfect fit for the MRCE buckets.. HTH.
  13. Anywhere that sells welding/brazing safety visors....or even your local friendly welding outlet. Usually 2 shades available, 3 & 5. Would recommend the 3 only if you have darkened the inside of your bucket out. Easily cut with a decent pair of scissors.. HTH.
  14. I used to have a full setup in my old RT Mod, and it now currently sits in my MRCE.. Used hollow hovis, and have 45mm mylar speakers sitting behind in deodorant caps. Small PC fan sits between the 2 speaker caps facing upwards. My ROM is 5 years old now (blimey, I have been in the 501st that long !!), and is one of the originals. It still has the original mic (not these rectangular clip on things it has now) that is bendable into any position you want it. Also have a 9v pack for fan, and 2 x 4AA packs for the ROM/FX. It is a bit cramped, and defo not for people with huge shoulder melons....but works a treat and is loud. Not as loud as the standard speaker, but at least the sound is coming out from where it should. Is a bit weighty too, but who cares when you're putting smiles on peoples faces...
  15. There are a few options you can use... 1, The accurate way and use clips to hold it on... not fully secure, but never had a problem with it trying to fall off. 2, If you have permanently fixed on the end caps, use can use screws to go through the belt, then into the canister. 3, If you haven't fixed the end caps, then you can use bolts (more secure way) to hold it onto the belt. HTH.
  16. I have a 250+ DVD collection, so I have a few to pick from..... Well, if it had to be one (apart from SW), then it would defo have to be The Lost Boys... Great film, and an even greater soundtrack.
  17. You're right about that....lol. It looks like the regular C-3PO figure... do the limbs come off at all ?? Original release had fixed limbs (they moved but didn't come out) ESB release had removable limbs. There was a variation on the head sculpt on the original release too...but wont go into that just yet....lol.
  18. Neil, post a pic, I might be able to help on that one....
  19. Being a vintage collector myself I can say that they are not worth much TBH.. If they were complete, then the Cloud Car Pilot would top the price list.... they can easily go for $15+ on a good day... all because of the little comlink thing that comes with it. Leia Boushh would be next. Personally, I'd say $1-$3 if you are lucky on any of them in the condition they are in. Sorry, but you can't retire just yet....lol..
  20. Your 501st number is for life and beyond... If someone becomes inactive, passes on (which some sadly have ) or gets kicked out, the number is still theirs. It cannot be taken by someone else. Once all the 4 digit numbers are taken (which could be a while), there are plans to go to 5 digit ID's.
  21. Enamels here...
  22. It all depends if the sound board will allow a 9v charge to be run through it. Currently, it only uses 4.5v, so doubling it could kill it. You can get smaller battery holders from good electrical outlets... Radio Shack springs to mind there. The ROM/FX board will run on 9v, but will easily take 12v.
  23. Pop along to your nearest hardare/DIY store and look for PVC pipe weld or similar... Does exactly the same job, and more controlable where you put it, as it's usually in a tube. HTH.
  24. Have a great Christmas guys, and all the best for 2009.
  25. Definately second that.... it's stunning... Aluminium U channel eh !!.... well my blaster is aluminium so it will go nice on it... sure I've seen that sort of stuff in a local DIY store. Cheers guys
