  1. Looks good dude, bet you're chuffed to get it ready for clearance after 3 years! Good luck bud
  2. 'K folks, went to work on the "eyelids" veeeeeery delicately with a fine blade and some files.....do I need to trim much more away? --------
  3. Thanks for the positive comments folks. I'll have another look at the eyes, might be tricky to trim the sockets as the lenses are now very firmly glued in place
  4. I finally got my AP TK bucket finished tonight - complete with Stompers Two-Tone HOVI's and Smitty's Lenses (thanks dudes, you are truly masters of your craft!) I'm pleased with the finished version, bit of a squeeze to get my head in but much lighter than my converted MR bucket whaddya think? MR (left) V AP (Right)
  5. Good looking armour Lisa - congrats on the clearance/approval!
  6. A favourite of mine is to "confiscate" hats and such items. Especially lightsabers! "that's a illegal weapon sir!" I also like to "sneak up on people who stand off and watch the fun from a distance. Scares the bejeezus out of em. Anyone in a hooded top immediately becomes a jedi suspect and treated accordingly Bag inspections are always good fun too, accompanied with the usual "you're cleared to procede, move along!" The armor question happens a heck of a lot, "it's imperial issue" works wonders. I've also been asked where I'm from a couple of times, to which I answered "a galaxy far, far away" raises a smile High fives and handshakes are good for engaging nervous kids Another thing to do with the photo op's is to inspect the photo taken and give or deny clearance Just have fun with it dude, you can't script to much, it's crowd interaction that makes a troop and most of the time you just have to think on your feet. Just stay in TK character and roll with it
  7. Welcome dude! Take Smitty's advice on the kit, you won't regret it
  8. Nice one dude - well done! That's a good looking set of armor matey!
  9. I started out going for the caulk/silicon seal method but it just ended up messy. Even thought the gap was filled I just couldn't live with the mold lines on the front of helmet, just didn't look right. Trust me dude, I agonised for a week over sanding mt brand new lid as I'd never resprayed anything this size, but if you take your time the end result can be awesome. By the time I'd finished I was chuffed to bits! BTW, if you're removing the tube stripes do this BEFORE you fill the gap! I didn't and the silicon/caulk went a fetching shade of light blue!
  10. Not a bad coice Jez, especially for the cost but don't forget that this lid needs a few minor mods before it'll be cleared by the UKG (gap in the frown needs filling, lenses changed etc) Add another Ā£10 - 20 to carry out the basic mods, more if you go for a respray.
  11. The big chunk of white plastic is what the Aerator fixes back onto if it's not too bent out of shape....you can just about make this out on the pic of my MRCE. It's useful for getting the placement right if you're going to put the old ones back on. I had to clean mine up a little with a blade and a file... If you're putting different aerators on you'll have to trim that excess plastic off.
  12. For the gap where the frown meets the rest of the faceplate try white silicon sealant (the type used for bathrooms etc) It's pretty straightforward to use and smooth down using a wet finger & it's a good colour match for the MRCE lid Just take your time and build up layers slowly rather than try and fill the gap in one hit!
  13. Hi there, TK4822 requesting 501st access http://www.501stlegion.org/members/display...php?userID=9835
  14. Got it (packs kit bag with cheddar and jaffa cakes )
  15. Great thread - I've just been cleared for with the UKG and I'm just sorting out my induction day so this advice has been invaluable Good luck Kev - enjoy it mate! I'm thinking....pack the cheddar
  16. get well soon dude! Take things easy
  17. Here's my MR interior Yep, that's D-MAC padding dude, that stuff is soooo versatile - thanks! I've added some more packing foam since - around the cheek level, so it's padded out more like a motorbike lid.
  18. Chuffed to report that my FX TK is very nearly (98% complete) thanks to help from some local Garrison members (one in particular - you know who you are ) Gotta change the Ab buttons and track down some smaller hand plates, in the meantime, what do you think?
  19. Looks like the padding that a trooper called D-MAC was supplying I have some in my bucket too ------------- BTW - if you are gonna mount the ROM/FX in your lid you might want to use the black balloon supplied with the kit or invest in a plastic box with rubber seal because once you have your bucket on the moisture from your bodyheat and breath might just cause a short on the board..... I was gonna put mine in my lid but after speaking to some felllow troopers decided against it for the above reason Just my two pennies worth.
  20. There's two sets of of pads in the pack that D-MAC supplies, should be enough to do 2 lids if you use is sparingly. I used both sets in one lid just because I've got a small head and went for a different layout of padding Here's my lid interior with D-MAC's pads If you are in any doubt - go for two packs (that'll give you 4 sets of pads) Hope this helps dudes - cheers to D-MAC for the padding too
  21. I for one couldn't work out why the a Legion of the Emperors' best troops got beat by a bunch of teddies, but the whole "can't look down far enough" is so true - Having just finished my bucket and trying it on for size I'm looking forward to my first troop with a sense of excitement and dread........ BTW I heard that that they wanted Wookies but coudn't get all the costumes made and there weren't enough tall dudes to make a decent army
  22. Sounds like one of two things dude. Either the primer wasn't dry enough or you sprayed a little too much gloss. I've just finshed my 1st attempt MR CE mod so I'm no expert. Give any paintwork time to dry hard before going at it with sand paper or you'll just make holes and runs in the paintwork. Most paints are touch dry in an hour but that doesn't mean they're ready to sand. On the gloss coats I sprayed a very fine dusting of paint for each coat (keep the nozzle a fair distance from the surface and use long strokes so the paint doesn't build up). Then I waited an hour then rubbed down with a very soft cloth before the next coat. Like I say, I'm no expert but I'm happy with my paint finish.
  23. That's one wicked looking MR lid dude! Just modding mine at the minute - all painted up but I can't seem to find tube stripes that fit - the Trooperdecals sets are too big. Where'd you get your tube stripes from or did you paint them on?
  24. Top stuff, thanks for your help guys. Was worried I'd have to spray the whole lid!
