I retrospect, I actually wish I had not used the Liquid nails, Greg. When I went to remove the "radio" box to mount the speaker inside, it was difficult, so say the least. Got er' done, though!

IMHO, it looks like it would take quite a bit work to get this thing up to par, and simply not worth the time and effort, considering that there are better alternatives..

This is what I did, Andrew... I used 1 1/2 inch long coarse thread machine screws and some Liquid Nails adhesive to hold the boxes on. I cut out the center portion of the oil pan on the back (the side that faces in), which gave me easy access to get the screws in. After that, I purchased a sheet of black craft foam from Michael's, cut that to fit around the opening, leaving about 1 inch extra all the way around, and super-glued it over the opening. (See photo). I like it because it will not scratch the O II plate on my armor, and allows a bit of room for it to sit flush against my back.
For the straps, I used the 1 inch machine type bolts to hold them on, and put washers/nuts on the inside. I also used these small plastic screw covers to cover the heads, (purely aesthetic). You can find them in the specialty area of Lowe's, but may have to ask where they are. In the 2nd photo, It shows one of them open, (they snap closed over the screw head). In the first photos, they are all closed.
You could also use the nut/bolt/washer method to hold the boxes on as well, but I have done many troops with mine, and have had no problems.
Side note: If you are considering one of Tony's (ukswrath) HWT TK radio chatter speaker systems to integrate into it, it is probably better to do it first, but it can be done at a later date like I did. You are welcome to PM me if you have any specific questions. Hope this helps!

Awesome story and video. Diana. Truly inspiring, and thanks for sharing it!!!

I just took a look at the trailer, and yes, they do refer to them as Shock Troopers. I don't recognize the weapons, though.

Haven't heard of these, Kirk, but they are exactly the right size. I would also like to find out if they are of Tandy style quality, because that price in phenomenal!

Welcome to the FISD, Steve... Glad to have you aboard! I guess you have figured out by now that there is an unbelievable amount to learn, but you are in the right place. The "Getting Started...." section has all the basic info. you will need to research your armor supplier and help you navigate the boards. Research will be your best friend... Just about any question you can possibly think of will be here somewhere, but you are always most welcome (and encouraged) to ask questions. All the best on your TK journey!

I'm not exactly sure what these are supposed to be, but I don't think they are Shock (Heavy weapons) troopers... They look more like updated Incinerator Troopers, but without the pauldron and ammo pack, and with the addition of a backpack. Just my opinion, though..

Good call, Jason! Didn't think about that.

Those would definitely work, but you would have to carry your bucket separately, (which some people do anyway). I know the larger ones such as mine take up a bit more space, but it is worth it to me because it holds my armor, bucket, blaster, boots, and accessories all in one place. The tray is cool because before suiting up, I take it out of the bin, extend the carrying handle, and it sets right inside for easy access to my gloves, neck seal, repair kit, etc., without having to set it on the ground. It also has a built in lock. I keep the key in a tiny key box attached with Velcro to the inside of my chest plate.

Really nice, clean build, Carlos... should be an easy pass!

If you haven't already, be sure to sign up with at the Florida Garrison's site, www.fl501st.com. Lots of great folks in the Tampa Bay Squad!!

I'll second what Jason said, as I have that same one as well and it holds everything perfectly. Plus, it has the removable tray inside to hold small accessories, (gloves, repair kit, neck seal,) etc. I lined the inside of mine with 1 inch thick foam padding so things don't get banged around during transport.

Welcome to your new addiction, Aaron! YAY BRADENTON, (my home town).

Welcome to the FISD, Sven! If you haven't already, I would start with this... http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/ A great source of information!

Are you going to start a build thread for this, Ed?

Great job, Josh, welcome to the ranks!!!

Way to go, Carlos! Next stop, Centurion!

Welcome, Reggie! You might want to sign up with the Texas Garrison, www.stargarrison.com , to find out where the nearest squad is, and which members live in your area. Some, if not most Garrisons/Squads have "armor parties", where you can get the chance to meet up with like-minded folk who can help you out. I would also suggest starting a build thread when you get your kit. That way, you can keep things more organized, and have all of your questions answered in one forum, rather than in multiple posts, and vastly increase your responses. Don't forget, we LOVE photos of builds, and posting pics makes it MUCH easier to answer any questions!
Best of luck on your journey into the wonderful world of white armor!

I'm not too sure about the lighting, Stuart, they do seem to be a bit blue, but If you look at the ear bar, (great paint job, BTW), it definitely looks gray. Then again, the paint on the frown looks gray as well, instead of solid black. Might want to get some different shots in various lighting.

I went to Jo Anne fabrics an purchased some 1 inch thick "Chair cushion padding", Scott, and cut it to fit in the places I needed it, including the inside of my bucket. Like the other Scott said, I used Industrial strength Velcro. I would suggest this over any sort of glue, as over time any sort of padding can absorb sweat, and start to smell pretty bad. That way you can either replace it or remove it for cleaning.

Congratulations on a really nice job, Jose! Looks great!

The size of the elastic is not important to reach Centurion, Ken. I used the 1 inch wide, and it has worked out great. I have seen a few people use Velcro for this connection, but I would highly recommend using snaps, as that area gets a lot of movement.

My AM bucket measures in at 13x13x11, so you should be fine with the box, Kev. I believe those usually run about 14 or 15 X12. I like my padded motorcycle helmet bag, though, as it fits perfectly into my bin, along with my armor.

This is wrong... just so, so very wrong... and on so many levels.
