  1. I'm considering setting a static burst to one button. Can't afford an iComm at present so a manual press after speaking could be a poor (wo)mans alternative
  2. Right now who can log into his account, replace his avatar with pictures of kittens and change his sig to "I HEART UNICORNS!" ? Alternatively have a good break mate
  3. I suspect it might work better still in a rubber glove (mine are ESB silk). I've asked him for a couple more boxes and I'll carry on playing. Need to sew them into snowy gloves as well
  4. It's taken me this long to get back to it, but I have a solution! Thimbles. Not regular metal ones, but the rubber ones used for counting money and paper etc. I have a friend who is a printer, he gave me a box to play about with. I velcroed the buttons to the thimbles then sewed the thimbles into the end of the gloves. The wires can twist a little so you do need to be careful putting them on but it works well!
  5. Personally I'd stick it on eBay and let it find it's level. Don't mention 501st in the auction, as Tolo and Gaz have said this isn't approvable so any mention of the 501st will leave you open to a claim down the line. There are folk that want this kind of thing, hobbyists that just want a display lid and not necessarily accuracy.
  6. Well, both units have arrived in the UK this morning, and even better didn't attract the £6 customs charge I was anticipating. Sadly I'm far too ill and coughing up a lung to have a play with them at present
  7. Hey Caitlin I'm another 5ft5" trooper. Ice just finished an RS build which wasn't too difficult, I did have to make a few strapping adjustments though and it seems us girls have bigger thighs than these male troopers You'll find my WIP thread in this section if you want to refer to another short girl build! Good luck Jane x
  8. Repacking it was an utter swine. It's very tightly packed in a small box (probably what caused the backpiece to crack in the first place, so I think you are doing the right thing by not opening it at all. Sorry you got caught too
  9. His feedback shows lots of these and Hans blaster (he actually got a neg for one of those) http://www.ebay.com/itm/STAR-WARS-ANH-Han-Solo-DL44-Blaster-Movie-Prop-Replica-/121526880333?nma=true&si=YVXQpyY97oeX%252FGyg00Vrhrdhv5k%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Nice money for a 2 minute paint job.
  10. Had to order 2, one for me and one for daughters snowy. Was thinking about this last night and I've decided to try and fix the pads (probably via velcro) to an elastic cotton work glove and bring the board out of the top. If I then make a hole in my rubber ESB glove I can hopefully mount board and speaker under the hand guard as it's much more domed than the ANH handguard. Of course this means wearing two gloves on one hand but could work. Will have to have a play when it gets here.
  11. At the minute it goes in a balaclava and under my jumper, but I suspect I'm going to have to try and improve on that method. It's to the bottom of my back so I'm thinking Pickles might have an idea with braids.
  12. It has been well covered now sith. At the time of posting only I had responded and I felt he'd be better with advice from more experienced members.
  13. Hi Eliza, I'm female and 5ft 5" and have the RS kit (mid build). Never thought I'd be discussing bra sizes on here but I'm 36c and the chest plate fits me fine. I've had to make some alterations to the strapping of the chest to make up for my shortness but it all works fine. I've gone for leggings and a top, mostly because it's going to be easier to go to the loo I think Looking forward to seeing your build thread!
  14. This was the image he used initially to advertise the auction... I still have the images from the box of armour he sent me. Worryingly the back piece was cracked out of the box. You get the idea. Fortunately I was able to send the whole lot back as I say.
  15. TK1024, I've posted up in armour general discussion here: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/30168-very-dodgy-armour-help/ Hopefully they will be better set to advise you than I can.
  16. This is all down in the eBay section but as it seems to be being missed and a fellow trooper could use advice I thought I'd ask up here. (hopefully thats ok) This is the topic that started it: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/29586-what-about-this-ebay-armor/ I bought some armour from this seller last year and was fortunately advised to run before I made any cuts. Being in the UK as well I was able to send it back and I bought RS instead. Now it seems he's making some very interesting claims about his recast FX armours lineage. The new member on the thread has bought two lots of armour from this guy and is understandably concerned. Here is a link to his new auction: ------------------------ he's told TK1024 that: Hopefully you guys with much more experience than me can offer some help here.
  17. I'd be stunned if it's got lineage because the crap he sent me was badly recast FX armour. Can I suggest you post this up in the armour general discussion as things down here can be missed: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/29-hard-armor-general-discussion/ I'm quite new to this myself, but the advice I got when I bought the same armour was to run away quickly.
  18. It can get approved but it's going to take a hell of a lot of work to get there. If I were you I'd contact him ASAP and cancel the order on the basis that he is still saying 501st approval in the auction which is something you just wont get that easily.
  19. Edit: I'll remove the link now as seller has come back with a decent offer. This guy might be fabulous to deal with, sadly I never got to find out. I need three of these for a Snowy, biker and a TK so messaged seller to explain I needed 3 and offered £17.50 each. His counter offer? £19.98 Yes, a whole penny off each one. I realise that any reduction is a bonus but why have a best offer if you are only ever willing to knock off a penny? Either way it's irritated me enough that I'll be looking elsewhere to buy them.
  20. Interestingly this seller has changed his auctions somewhat. Gone are the FX references in the title and now he's selling as 'Costume kit with SDS helmet'. There is still a reference to the 501st in the description. Looks like he's also now using his own pictures instead of ones stolen from google. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-Stormtrooper-Armour-costume-Kit-with-SDS-Helmet-Made-in-UK-/221686372386?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item339d899822
  21. I have RS armour and am mid build. I started my legs at the weekend and cut them out so I had a few bits of off cut from the legs. As an experiment I did the following: I put them in a bowl and ran the hot tap over the offcuts. There was no change and on removing them from the bowl with tongues there was no pliability in the PVC. Next I poured a freshly boiled kettle over the PVC. The Water was allowed to drain off down the sink. No pliability in the PVC. Offcuts in a bowl with hot tap water (Tap water is too hot to hold hand under). Left to soak for 5 minutes. No pliability in PVC. Offcuts in a bowl with freshly boiled kettle left for a few minutes. Now I had pliability, I pulled out the piece with tongues and was able to manipulate it into a shape and mould it. No matter what I tried I couldn't get the same 'shrinkage' effect you got there. It's very odd. I'm wondering if it's perhaps a substandard bit of PVC you've got there? Either way, the point of this was to say if you do own RS Armour then it doesn't necessarily do what yours did so any worries about being attacked with hot water on troop should be banished.
  22. Phew, sigh of relief there because I started to build my right arm at the weekend and used the flat bicep.
  23. Probably a daft question, but shouldn't the thumb print be on the left arm?

    Car decals

I drive a white Fiat 500 which I'm sure could be turned into a TK lid. I rather like this as well: http://www.fiat500owners.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=9842&d=1370527113 It would certainly save some car washing for me!
  25. It's like you read my mind. Ordered my boots yesterday and will be ready to start painting by the weekend. Not sure I'm keen on using my best nail acetone on them though Bloody expensive stuff that haha
