  1. I believe that with the "Troopers Helping Troopers" motto that our family here will only continue to grow. I've been made to feel very welcome here, as others have. I don't think that is the exception to the rule but rather the standard. This is a great place to share information, help each other out, and simply relax and hang out with friends. I don't see a bad side to that. As I said, we're only going to continue to grow. I'm looking forward to seeing how much we've grown in another 10 years. Rick
  2. Joe, I didn't get to say this on the RPF thread but THANK YOU for posting the information. After 8 years there I finally got my first warning for questioning perceived favoritism. I can live with that. I came out of that thread with much more information. I also wanted to say THANK YOU to the Mods here, current and past, for continuing to apply the rules equally across the board to all members. Rick
  3. Daryl, I want to say a big THANK YOU for this tip. I know that I'm NOT a good painter so this will really help. Rick
  4. You're off to a great start. I think I ruined 5 or 6 pieces of PVC while I was drilling out the holes. I'm looking forward to more pictures. Rick
  5. I'll take a set. Rick
  6. I could be wrong but I believe that company is the husband and wife that was banned from the RPF for bad business practices: "General Mayhem and Shadow Duchess have been banned for a continuing pattern of taking costume and prop orders and not fulfiling those orders or making refunds." Rick
  7. Well my boots came in today. I ordered a size 11 and my set run just a tad large. They were built nice and solid. I walked around the house in them for about 30 minutes and they felt fine. However, my wife kept laughing at me and shaking her head. Rick
  8. Well I did manage to get a little bit of time this weekend to work on building my armor. Today I took the wife and kids to see The Lion King. It was a great performance. Rick
  9. Wait, you mean they made more movies after the Trilogy? I heard that was still just a bad rumor. Rick
  10. Your suit is coming along nicely. For the butt plate, you could use snaps and elastic from the kidney plate to the butt plate. Another option would be using the elastic going from the bottom of your butt plate to the cod piece. Rick
  11. I haven't heard this option mentioned yet. So, how about using fiberglass to reinforce the inside? Could you use the fiberglass resin and cloth around the aerators on the inside? I'm currently trying the glue method to beef up the aerator portion on my helmet since that is the only weak spot. I had used the fiberglass cloth on my Fett armor but not on any helmet. Does anyone know if using the fiberglass resin could cause problems? Rick
  12. Well, what about those of us who don't post much and just lurch? Can we have our own thread? I'd have to say that I've tried to shut up and learn enough about the armor so I don't mess it up the first time. But since I received a nice large box on my front porch from the postman today, things may change. I was like a kid on a sugar rush on Christmas morning. I can't wait to start building my armor. I'll have a thread including all of my screw ups, pictures of getting cut by plastic, snips, exacto, etc. THEN I start chatting more. Already the thought of me screwing up my new ATA armor scares the crap out of me. Rick
  13. I work for the State of Alaska in a Youth Challenge Program for "at risk" teenagers. I have to wear black BDU pants and a red shirt with the Academy's logo on it. The shirt can either be a T-shirt or a polo. Wow, great options there. Rick
  14. I'm really looking forward to seeing this build completed. I'm on the list waiting for a set and I get to see how others build their helmets before I stupidly butcher that work of art. Rick
