TK 12773 requesting ANH Stunt EIB Status [813]
ukswrath replied to hlehman1's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Hey Hendrick, welcome and thank you for your EIB application. Let's have a look. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All submission photos have been posted. Your armor displays all the necessary elements to qualify for Expert Infantry. Congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. We have a couple minor suggestions to mention here. Areas to work on to enhance the overall accuracy and look of your armor. Starting at the top and working our way down 1) The shoulder bells should be closer to the chest and back plates. Tighten the straps and or removing additional lower return edge should bring them closer. Reference photo 2) Shoulder cover on the right side is underneath the back plate. We're sure this is a simple photo issue and we're suggesting you correctly position on top of the back plate. Reference photo 3) There should be little to no gap between the back and kidney plates. This could be a simple strapping adjustment fix. Reference photo 4) Next up it looks like your Ab to kidney gap is either off set quite, or the gap between the two is a bit wide on the right side. Tightening up straps in that area should help resolve the issue. Reference photo 5) We have a few issues with the Thermal detonator. First the ends of the clips should reside just below the control panel and butt up against the end caps, also the mounting screw heads should be black in color. Reference photo 6) Lastly not a huge issue however, you butt plate should reside below the kidney. Reference photo Centurion Suggestions: Because Centurion photos show much more detail than EIB, items pertaining to Centurion might be seen there and not here. We try to point out all we can from what is seen but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. A this time we have nothing to add. Great job on your build -

This is another good call, thanks Brien. To be crystal clear so there's no mistake as to which belt we're referring to I was state ... L3 - "The top of the ammo belt should sit at or just below the bottom of the central and vertical abdomen button panels" -

We won't be requiring anyone to shim bells, the keyword here is "Minimal" . What may be minimal for you may not be for the next guy. We'll address it on a app by app basis. Andrew and I know what to look for and recommend. What we have now is a total nightmare. If I had to guess I'd say 85% of the bells we look at can be easily adjusted, and most applicants do. Why not have them in the correct position before we have to mention it? -

I think Silicone or Latex hand guards are perfectly acceptable (sorry for missing to comment on this Joseph). "non-symmetry of shoulder bells/biceps" kinda falls under the 22mm kidney notch theory, if it has it it's required to be there and installed correctly, if not it doesn't. -

And for my 10,000 post (Andrew is going to love this one) PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Shoulder Armor CRL update Let's add a L2 section - "There should be minimal gap between the Shoulder armor and the Chest and Back plates" Hopefully this will inspire people to reduce and help alleviate the dreaded shoulder bell gap issue. -

Waist ammo belt CRL update. Currently the CRL states "The corners of the plastic ammo belt shall be trimmed at a 45 degree angle." I would like to see it say "The corners of the plastic ammo belt shall be trimmed at a 45 degree angle that meets the outer edge of the cloth belt." Can't tell you how many applicant's I've had to suggest make the correction. -

Unless anyone objects - L2 The rivets used shall be single cap, double cap or split rivets. No pop rivets allowed. L3 (Remove the rivet wordage all together) IMHO I say glue at L3, it's about accuracy and there's not a photo on the planet I'm aware of that shows velcroed hand guards. -

Paul, regarding the thigh ammo pack cap rivet question. Do we want to post a gallery photo or something modern? -

We're referring to the Stunt and Hero CRLs which do not specify how they are to be attached. It says "mounted securely" how? People are asking Hand Plates For 501st approval: Roughly pentagonal in shape, the hand plates are mounted securely over the back of the glove. As an alternative to plastic, these may be made out of latex or latex-like material. For level two certification (if applicable): For level three certification (if applicable): Hand guards shall be latex or latex-like, painted white, affixed to rubber gloves in lieu of plastic hand guards. -

ESB and ROTJ are the only hand guard with permissible elastic straps at L2. Stunt and hero are glued Hand Plates For 501st approval: These shall be clam shell, or snowtrooper-style hand plates and not the trapezoidal design seen in A New Hope. The hand plates shall be mounted securely over the back of the glove. For level two certification (if applicable): If rubber gloves are worn the hand plates are affixed via an elastic strap over the palm.
