  1. If the bucket is so small that you can't wear pads, then just line it with something soft. If its too big for just lining it, use a couple pads. If its right in between, wear a balaclava with a bandana underneath for cushioning. There's always a way.
  2. I used a heat gun and bent mine with my thumbs. Mine was cut from a welders shield, but should work the same. Just lightly heat, bend, check. If not enough, heat again, bend again.
  3. Hey, I was just looking over your build and I noticed you mentioned replacing your tube stripes with paint (or painting over them) for Centurion. As you know, I painted mine, but this is NOT necessary. The tube stripes are the one part that does NOT need to be hand painted (or use hand painted-like decals). Not trying to discourage you, because it'll look great, but just in case you don't want to do it just now. Just one less thing for you to worry about! From the CRL . . . Tears/traps shall be hand painted or use decals that emulate hand painted (with correct ANH TK details).
  4. Will your head fit through turned sideways (like when you put on your bucket)? Also, I know people are deathly afraid of heat guns, but you could use that (just be careful!). Or you might not even need heat at all. Just bend them a bit by hand, gently and slowly over time. It's ABS . . . it'll eventually bend. Especially that part since it's thin. I'm pretty sure that's all I did . . . maybe after blasting for a few seconds with a heat gun.
  5. I have a shallow brain pan . . . marker of low intelligence, but also increased virility.
  6. This is the standard bin . . . http://www.homedepot.com/p/Stanley-37-in-Mobile-Job-Box-037025H/202300294 They seem to be discontinuing them, so you might be able to get a good deal on one, if you can find one at all.
  7. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck!!
  8. Heeeeeeyyyyyy pick on someone your own size! . . . like the Lincoln Memorial.
  9. Danny Steinberg 66668 Centurion Letter Thanks!!
  10. Thanks so much Steve! I knew you were away, I wasn't expecting a response at all today, so thanks very much for such a fast turn around. The dog picture was more in response to Clamps, hehe Very proud and happy to be the 166th Centurion (such a good number)! Thanks also to everyone who gave me so much help and support during my build, the awesome people here on FISD, and of course the awesome people in the Canadian Garrison. You guys know who you are, and I'll try to pay it forward as best I can. Greg, you deserve a special thanks, because yours was the first Centurion build thread I looked at, and you've helped me all along the way. Thanks everyone!!
  11. Okay everyone, don't want you all to think I forgot all about this thread. I completed EIB (Yaaay!) and have now just submitted my Centurion application. I thought I would post some pics of the evil notch I cut . . . So I've been weeping for several hours and have finally come to accept it. For the record, it is 22mm in from each edge. Lastly i wanted to post some pics of my paint details cleaned up a little. As Gazmosis mentioned earlier in my build, there is a difference between hand painted and messy. Mine wasn't too bad (see earlier in the thread), but there was room for improvement. I did a little work on it (and I may do more), so here's what it looks like now . . . Also, it's not in the CRLs, but for Centurion they really prefer if you actually look like you're from space . . . (okay, not really) Anyway, if I left out any details, feel free to PM me, but better yet, if you don't mind, ask me here on the thread. If I left something out I'd like to post it for others to see as well. Bye for now!

  13. I just wanted to follow up and show some progress I made on my bucket paint. I took Gaz' advice and here is some progress. Might even do more, but for now I think it makes a huge difference. Side before . . . After . . . Other side after . . . Back before . . . Back after . . . The differences are subtle, but they make a big impact. As I said, I might even do more. I'm just giving myself some time to regain an objective perspective and decide. For right now I think it's gone from "messy hand painted" to just "hand painted", and that's the goal. Thanks Gaz!!
  14. Okay, these are very good answers, and thanks! I understood I was supposed to follow those two threads for news, and I was afraid I was going to miss something. If the bottom line is that the recent increase in traffic has lead to a bit of chaos, I completely understand that you don't need another job. If locking and unlocking threads is a pain, I get it. I didn't realize it was difficult to do, I've never been a mod (so, I appreciate that actual staff have responded to this thread). I also didn't realize that there had previously been attempts made to discourage responding to the threads, made in the initial post. If that doesn't work at all, I'd give up too. No worries, just trying to be a helpful member of the community. I appreciate the feedback, everyone. I'll probably turn off my notifications completely and just check my subscribed threads on Tapatalk. I always knew this was an option, but it just seems a shame to abandon the entire notification system. In non-merch threads (like my build thread), it was very useful. Thanks everyone! Let me know if I can ever be of help!
  15. Personally I see it happening in the patches and racing shirts threads right now. Just have a look at the most recent posts. That said, those are the only two I'm following.
  16. Exactly. I am not asking for an AI to be built. I am not in any way shape or form asking for an automated system to distinguish between important and unimportant posts, nor did I say ANYTHING to that effect. As previously stated . . . Perhaps authors of such threads can say something along the lines of, "Follow this thread if you want to know when new patches will be available. Please don't reply indicating you are following, as that will notify all others following. Thank you." Or alternatively the op could lock the thread until there is further news. Threads can be locked. Most posts like this have been started by detachment staff, who I believe have the ability to do so. If they can't . . . okay. I am not talking about all threads. This is a very specific type I am referring to.
  17. There is definitely a miscommunication here. Unfortunately, I can't see where it is to clarify.
  18. Danny Steinberg 66668 EIB Letter Thanks very much!
  19. Bobio, you are incorrect. I want to eliminate the irrelevant notifications, not eliminate my notifications altogether. Also, I am not getting them to email, so that is not my concern at all. Locitus, I also do not believe this is impossible, because I think a disclaimer before those types of threads could help, since that's the first (and sometimes only) post people read. Locking them, or setting them to owner only posts, is also possible in some forum software, but I can't say if this one has that function. If you're saying it doesn't, I believe you, so maybe just a general disclaimer then. I really think people would notice, and maybe not do it so much.
  20. Oh, by the way, this is the under suit. I have two of them and took the decals off with Goo Gone. http://www.pleasuresports.com/neosport-unisex-sport-skin.html
  21. Hi! Meaning absolutely no disrespect, but hopefully addressing what I consider to be a nagging issue, I'd like to suggest threads being "watched", whether it be for merch runs or other announcements, be temporarily locked by the admins (until there is an update/news). Alternatively, it could be made clear that no one else should post (other than those providing the info being watched for) in those threads. It becomes a real problem when you've subscribed to multiple threads and people post, "This is great!" or "Watching!" The sole purpose of these threads is to be notified, so each one of those posts triggers notifications for droves of people. I completely understand people are not doing this on purpose, but I really think awareness of this should be spread, as it's a good piece of forum etiquette. Thanks, and again not trying to be critical, just wanting a solution.
  22. Yep, made all the difference in the world. Some people put the Velcro on the material tabs used to pull the boots on, but I dont think that will work as well, and would be really hard to push down/together. The Velcro on the back is just for protection.
  23. Thank you VERY much Steve! One down, one to go! As for my helmet paint, ABSOLUTELY. It is on my list and in fact I almost did it before the submission photos. You had mentioned it on my build thread and I 100% agree. I just didn't want to screw anything up before submitting, haha . . . I will definitely be doing that soon. As you can see I took your advice and the neck seal has more lines in it. It definitely gave it a more rounded solid look, so that was a good call. I may even replace it and do some more work to get that nice ribbed look. I have considered nylon for the side. I'm going to make some straps and see how it goes. My biggest concern is getting it done up. With no give, I may not be able to get my hand in there to do it up. That said, I will try just about anything to avoid shims because . . . SO CLOSE!! I can do it! Thank you very much again, and it is an honour to be among the EIB troopers. I am in damn fine company! Thanks to everyone on this thread, and others, for all your help. Seriously, one of the most supportive communities I've ever had the privilege of joining. Centurion next!
