  1. I know it's not perfect, but for the price i couldn't help it. I do plan on making some more mods to it, I will be weathering it w/ some silver drybrushing and eventually add some custom power cylinders. For basic approval....this works for me. Thanks for the feedback!
  2. I'm testing the theory now.....but i'm going to try and use white caulk to fill the gap. It's silicone and would handle the stress/heat and is water proof! I have some drying on a test peice of ABS....i will let you know how it turns out! I'm doing this because of how small my forearms are....i had to trim them down and so the edges of where the two half meet is really rounded and creates a gap (unavoidable). I will post some picks of my findings
  3. Warhammer 40k Owning a variety of guns and going to the gun range. I also own a 1960 chevy - parts can add up really quickly. SCHOOL!!! but i still have time to work on the armor!!
  4. I know, I know.....Rubies it the devil! So please don't tell vader or the emporer (because I don't want to get choked! LOL) But i found this blaster at Target for 12 bucks...(i know i'm cheap) The reason I went w/ this blaster is because to me it was the most accurate looking one....I know....Rubies accurate? It has the counter, the magazine and the scope doesn't look to bad...it even has the correct amount of T-tracks.... so before you crusify me....take a look at the build and then make your own opinion... (THIS IS FOR BASIC APPROVAL ONLY!!!!!) Ok...here we go.. so first i cut out the vents... Then i drilled some holes for the wires coming from the counter.. Then I wrapped some regular black wire around the screw driver.... Then I painted it all satin black... and put it back together! And there you go! agian this is only good enough for basic approval. It's a little on the small side, but it works for me because i'm a too small for a stormtrooper anyways! A appreciate any and all feedback! Thanks!
  5. Hello everyone! I'm done w/ finals and school for the semester! Now all my attention will be on the armor! So i did a lot of work over the weekend.... after I fixed the issue of the chest covering the ab buttons, i trimed and connected the cod and but plate. I used the extra peice to make a snap plate, that way it would fit the curve/shape of the cod perfectly... Then it was back to the forearms! one side done... A slight gap in this one...but i have a though on how to fix it... and here is w/ both cover strips glued... Then on to the biceps... and w/ the finished cover strip.. the last bicep and forearm are finishing up drying...in the mean time I glued the ab buttons on. and then painted them... I also got my blaster in the mail....it was a cheap one from target, only 12 bucks! i'll post a seperate build but wanted to put it here as well.... First i cut out the vents... Than I drilled some holes in the Counter for the wires I will add to it... and the wires i just wrapped around a screw driver! and then painted the whole thing w/ satin black... and put back together! Not to bad if i do say so myself! Well thats all for now, please point out anything wrong or funky! Stay tuned!
  6. I trimed mine to match the angel of the trap. Vocoder looks good to me. don't cut the last one but yes paint the last tooth to a point just after the one you don't cut out. This is a pic of mine before I extende the grey on the frown a little more after the last tooth.
  7. Tesla is the brand i have! and your are right, they don't give you a six pack!
  8. Search compression shirt and pants on amazon. I got a set (shirt/Pants) for 20 bucks! There is all kinds and some without any logos so you don't have to worry about it showing. Zippers seem like a bad idea in general, it may rub against the armor and make noise Wet suit !?!?! Are you diving in your armor?
  9. I think ATA makes a kit in red? you can email him at ataworks@yahoo.com Be aware it does take awhile for him to make and ship the armor. last i heard it was around 6-8 months. hope this helps.
  10. as promised.... here is a comparison of the ab plate adjustment. Before.. after.. What do y'all think? is this ok? I hope to have more pics of the biceps and forearms later in the week. Thanks!
  11. @ Tusken RTT. the back and kidney are not overlapping, i just strapped them really tight together to make them seamless. but i have changed the straps to elastic and now there is a little mobility to the back. I did that because the kidney was to high and bringing up the ab plate (making it tuck up under the chest plate a lot). for basic approval i think it's ok to have a little bit of a gap between the back and kidney, but not a huge one. I also made the chest straps a little longer to bring down the ab plate.(the cod was..um...really cupping...if you know what i mean! ) The reall problem is that i have a short frame! lol. i like the idea of shortining the shoulder part of the chest pate to raise it up, but I think if I do that then the armor would be choking me ( just like vader! ) I don't know how much more i can make the chest go up, but i got it to a point where it doesn't cover the ab buttons. I'll try to post some more pics of the adjustment tomorrow. Thanks!
  12. Hey eveyone, sorry it's been awhile (finals week ) hope to have some more pics up tomorrow. I would love some feed back on the stuff I got completed already to see if i need to make any changes. Thanks!
  13. It took me a whole year of saving and waiting till i finally had enough to buy my armor. This hobbie is not going anywhere...so save when you can and don't worry. Somtimes waiting longer and looking on FISD makes the wait more worth it. I can't tell you how excited i was when in finally got my armor! Hope everything works out for you!
  14. Hey everyone. Sorry it's been awhile.... I had to give the ab plate a bath to get the sides to line up with the kidney, and found a way to cool it quickly to set... So once i got the ab and kidney to line up i installed the snaps and straps using the same method as before. Then it came time to connect the ab to chest and chest to back. I wanted the shoulder straps to be stronger so i decided on two snaps per shoulder And all straped up (except one shoulder) I need to trim up the cod and butt plate. So now it was time for a test fitting..... Back shot and some close ups of the sides.. (sorry for the grainy pics) Please let me know what y'all think (yes i said it, i'm Texan!) hope to have the last shoulder and trimmed up cod/butt plate strapped up this weekend. Stay tuned!
  15. Awesome! I was having this exact issue, now i know what to do! Thanks!
  16. Thanks guys. @comfy turtle: it's the ACH/MICH helmet pads (amazon), bucket fits nice and snug without any additional pressure on the head...word of warning, get the fit kit to help, I have a smaller head so there was some space that I had to fill. Almost got the torso completely strapped up, more pics soon!
  17. I use both the tape and ruler. ukswrath's right, to each his own. As long as it looks good in the end! Keep up the good work.
  18. WOW, you hit the ground running on this one! I will be watching this for other great ideas you come up with.
  19. Thanks Greg! I used your build thread as a guide...and i appreciate all the feedback!
  20. Had a little more time last night... I finished up the back plate and attached it to the kidney I used a great method i found on FISD, using a sodering iron to make the holes in the strap. I measured the distance between the snaps and then cut the straps accordingly and measured up where the holes are going to go Then i put the female snaps on... and after...all straped up! some spots need a little heat bend but over all not to shabby Now to attach the ab plate to the kidney plate! I started by taping up the sides so they where even Then i marked the spot for the snap plates, and glued them in place. This weekend i will be finishing up the ab plate and connecting the chest to ab/back and then the torso is done and time to work on the arms..... Stay tuned!
  21. Hey eveyone, had some more time this week to work on the build. I got started on the forearms by trimming the return edge at the wrist Then came the sizing up... Since i have small forearms i know they are going to be tough to put together, so i did a test run on one of the inside strips for support... After this i realized i need stronger magnets in the middle....so forearms are on hold once again. lol So i moved on to the biceps I originally was going to cut the top off, but after further sizing (measure twice or three times, cut once!) i decided they are the right height. I had to stop working on the arms because something came in the mail.... YAY!! snaps/elastic/straps...under shirt/pants from amazon. And Holster/neckseal/mic/belt from trooperbay!! So i had to start payling with the snaps when i got them so i made some snap plates! I wanted to finish the body of the armor fist so everything else (arms/thighs/etc) would fit around it. I started with the kidney as the base and wanted to attach the butt plate. And with all the snaps and straps attached... Everything lined up nice and even...i'm pretty happy with it. So the next step is to attach the back plate to the kidney. After looking at a lot of screen shots of the back plate, i wanted it to be as flush as possible. when i looked at the two peices, i notices how wonky they both were! I didn't want to take the return edge off the kidney so i decided to make to back plate flush with the kidney. After a couple of hours of trimming, i got the back plate to sit on the kidney! literally! Here are the pics (no tape holding this up!) it's not 100% flush but with the straps in place it will help mold it to the shape of the kidney. Once i got it where i liked it, i tapeded it up and drew out the templates for were the snap plates are going w/ pencil and numbered them. This will allow me to make sure there is a tight hold on the back plate so it will stay flush. Then i glued everything down, once this is done i'll make the straps. Stay tuned!
  22. Hey Everyone, installed the military padding to the bucket.. Fits nice and secure I havn't heard back from anyone on my ab plate concern so i started to work on the bicep. Holy cow these biceps are tall! The blue tape is where i plan on cutting to trim them down other wise it will be riding the inside of my arm pit! lol Should i take some from the top and the bottom? or just take from the top? My arms are not that long, i have it set to about 5 and 1/2 inches for total length of the bicep, this will cover my whole bicep with a little wiggle room. Hope to get some feedback before i start cutting! Stay Tuned!
