Fuumantroop's AM armor build
Starfox2010 replied to fuumantroop's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Ive been practicing using the rivet gun, still not comfortable to use it on my thigh belt lol. -
I think you can cut out a bit more from the chest shoulder strap area and raise the back plate. I think the back plate is too long even for me being 6'2. Check out what I did for my butt and cod cutting, I trimmed that extra rectangle on the butt and rounded off the cod. The butt still hangs low but after you connect it to the cod it wont. Luck-E, wish I had one of these. Lastly, I think very few look good in the undersuit. lol

Depending on what you want to do with the airbrush. You can use it from face painting to detailing small objects, plus you have way more colors to chose from (and a lot metter than a paint brush). The Spray paint you can only do so much and can only cover wide areas with fewer colors to chose from. To airbrush you will need the pump, airbrush (anywhere from $20-300), the paints, time to clean it out when changing colors, replace parts when they fail. Spray paint you just need the can. I have one and messed up a piece and couldn't find it anywhere. Once im done with my build and recover some $ that I spent. I am looking on getting a new one to do some blasters and details. Hope this helps.

Looks great! your prospective changes when you decide to put everything on doesn't it. I didn't think I would make my deadline for Halloween until I decided to just suit up this last time. Have you thought about heat bending the side wings in a bit on the chest? When you connect your ab and kidney piece, can you stick your hands inside through the top ab piece, or do you have both top and bottom equally snug? -
TKBoots, Neckseal, Belt, Holster, TD Clips, Gloves and brakets. All the tools are explained a lot in the getting started dept. I would suggest finding a coupon app like Retailmenot to look if say Michaels is having a sale (usually has 40-50% off) on their items.

I was in the same position. I was looking at my armor in the box like car junkies stand around looking at a motor. Have you made a build page? You should at least start with just using tape to join the pieces. When you are ready to start trimming, do half of what you think. Or you could take picture of what you put together with tape and ask if your planned cut looks good. Hope this helps

Knee plate looks great. did you trim any of it or did you glue it just as it came? I wonder what is the normal distance between the box and the bottom? Mabe that could help us out. Hopefully someone reads this. -
Yea, seen your post of success, even printed a copy. Just a little scared, dont want to end up with nothing left to cut. I posted a help topic on my garrison, hoping someone can help. If no one is able to, I will eventually just do it and hope for the best. Im thinking the backplate is still a little bit large? That comparrison that PandaTrooper did with the ATA was a big difference. Hoping we could at least modify it. The blaster is another doozie, seeing all these crazy spot on builds makes mine look like crap. I'll keep at both, though. I'm hoping to reach my deadline of Oct 24 (JIK something goes wrong ill have a week to fix before Halloween). good look on completing yours. Let me know when you're done with the knee plate.

Feel free to ask the rest of us AM peeps. we're all asking/helping each other out. mabe you have something to share that we don't know yet. Where's your build page?
-
Yea, thats how it is. lol.

Hey Mike, Yea on the forearms I mentioned im not done yet, I still cant close the back side for the life of me. That's why I haven't connected them to the bicepts. Hopefully a member of my garrison can help me, hands on. The shoulder bell allign depending on how I place the chest piece. Scroll up to mid page and you could see that they should be good ( was a little too excited putting the armor on, I didn't think to ajust it right). I am going to try and go for IEB. We can't go for Centurion untill TG updates the backplate (or we modify it somehow). How is your build coming along? Andrew and I are going back and fourth with each others build. I'm hoping he finds a good way to do the thigh belt (next on my list).
-
I can't sit let alone raise my knees too far. How are you having the opposite problem? (I haven't trimmed the top yet.)
-
Thanks. Yea the thigh belt kind of throws me off, I cant really align the center box to the cover strip, it's going to be that gap in between. I did use a hair dryer to kind of bend the belt, i'm going to do it a little more before I test glue it and eventually add the rivets.

Did you trim the top and bottom edge (pic bellow)? Very scary cut for me. I think im going to glue the belt to the thigh before I add the rivets just to see if it looks good. -
Update: What do you guys think so far? I'm still "iffy"about the ab and kidney fitting. If someone from my garrison is willing, I want to see what they think of it. I don't want to add the split rivets just to find out that I need to cut more for the sides. I'm holding my thighs up and hiding the inside of the forearms. Also my biceps are being held up by the elastic on the shoulder bells. I did the cod split rivet and added the two snaps in the butt plate. Also added the elastics to connect the butt and kidney plate (gona add the strapping brackets some other time). Also, here's my ab plate Ok I'm starting to work on: Knee Plate my knee plate, think im gona glue the center Thigh ammo belt Lastly, I'm also working on my blaster. Here's a preview:

Use a liter for the edges of fuzzy stuff. -
what did you do for the knee plate? Im getting ready to do it and I noticed that I have to add extra pressure for the ends to touch the shin.

I have yet to master attaching the second cover strip on one side of both forearms. the forearm pieces join at an angle. what did you do to join them? -

If I may suggest, use washers and pre-screw them into the nuts before painting (blue and gray) and installing. I tried doing it after painting and I started smudging the paint (1 week of dry time). -
