  1. Saw this on the 501st boards - pretty good! And, always great to see TK's on screen Kudos to the troops of the Nordic Garrison
  2. Wow, I can turn mine fully around. Which helmet are you using?
  3. That was fast! Talk about being part of a well-oiled machine
  4. Just got an email from Rome this morning stating that as of today we are an official detachment of the 501st Legion. Go team! Just remember folks that we are still on probation for six months, meaning that there can be no creation or selling of merchandise during this time. Kudos to Rome for guiding us through this process and the admin & command staff for keeping the detachment running. And special thanks of course to stormtroopers everywhere for keeping the dream alive - this detachment is for you.
  5. I use straps on each side along the bottom of the chest/back using a snaps/straps as you describe. Mine is black on the TD, white on the TK. It's been working great for me. Ideally there should be no gap between the ab and the back, though it's this way in the FX kit it's not that way in the TE2. In ANH one side was riveted together. To fill the gap, various materials I've heard people used for this purpose include but are not limited to: 1) ABS 2) Styrene 3) White canvas 4) White elastic Personally I think ABS is the way to go to match the armor.
  6. The other problem I encountered is that I'm having a hard time making tabs with styrene. The plastic is so soft that it really pinches down when trying to add a snap to it. (this may be due to the fact that it's thinner and softer plastic than the armor) I'd like to go back to using ABS as the material for the tab pieces - is there any problem of gluing ABS tabs to the HIPS armor with E6000? Actually Troopermaster's idea of taping a tentative strap system in place is a really good one. What I found is this: while it's pretty easy to remove industrial velcro from ABS, it's not as easy to remove it from HIPS. Apparently this has to to with the fact that HIPS is a lot more porous than ABS so the adhesive bonds more securely. Good news once you know exactly where you want the velcro to go, not so good if you don't.
  7. I'm giving up CA glue in lieu of E6000. I was told that CA glue degenerates over time, and when I checked my shins the strips came apart with a slight tug. Then the shins came apart easily as well. The attraction of CA is that is dries fast, but I'm too concerned now about using it. I'll give E6000 a chance next. Progress was made. TK4205 swung by yesterday and we got most of the parts fitted. I'm velcro'ing everything for now until I can troop with the suit and figure out how I want it all to fit. All that's left is the legs, belt, and forearms.
  8. We're still awaiting final artwork from Mark since the Legion Council has stated that we must include the text "501st Legion" somewhere. Ed - this is a great catch that hopefully can be incorporated in with the other change.
  9. I need a new holster, but realize they're not all created equal in that some fit some blasters better than others. I have a hyperfirm E-11 and was considering getting a fancy holster from Ashton, but never having seen one in person am curious if it will work with the HF, and if it will be floppy enough like in ANH. Thoughts/ideas?
  10. Holy smokes - that's killer!! I like that you can use them or just the aerators. What a killer idea. Man, I should send you my bucket for wiring up
  11. Adding snaps is for myself at least the single best mod I've ever done to my armor in terms of pure usefulness & value add. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=88 Velcro is nice, but a great snap system where all the plates are in place, the straps are the correct length, etc. makes putting on armor a breeze & ensures it fits right every time.
  12. Per Legion Request, this detachment will now be known as the First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment. The leadership team is already working on updating the site accordingly, so don't be surprised if you see a few changes.
  13. I used rivets for both and they've stayed on just fine. I'll take a pix and lunch and update my post.
  14. And I'd love to go, but between family commitments and a biz trip I'm just not able to make it down. Trust me, if I was single I'd be down there every weekend.
  15. This past weekend I spent the entire time with my family and didn't get to do any trooping. My suit is looking at me mornfully as it's sitting there unused. The only Star Wars thing I did was finish Bloodlines by KT. One of the best SW books for sure, but it's still not trooping. Please tell me someone did something with armor. I need to live through you vicariously for a little while to get my fix.
  16. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php...E=01&HID=12 Under Poll Options.
  17. Are you using a stick or something similar to apply the E6000? My first efforts and there was a lot of spider webs hanging off. It seems better to put some on a tongue depressor and apply it that way - or is there a better way?
  18. My lenses were taped in over a year ago and still holding up strong - no worries there mate. But I would trim your bottom edge trim so there is no overlap though...
  19. I would, but no sewing machine. I guess I could hand sew new ones eventually, but I suspect this will have to be my "good enough" solution until more time materializes. Possible to pix how you did your shoulder straps? I'd like to use that solution and just velcro on the plastic ones as decoration.
  20. Press release from this morning. October 11, 2006 06:30 AM Central Time Lucasfilm Ltd. Wins Major Copyright Infringement Lawsuit Against Star Wars Stormtrooper Pirate U.S. District Court Awards $20 Million for Illegal Creation and Sales of Unauthorized Star Wars Products SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The U.S. District Court for the Central District of California has awarded Lucasfilm Ltd. $20 million in damages in a copyright infringement and unfair competition case against the British firm Shepperton Design Studios and its owner, Andrew Ainsworth. The court found that Shepperton Design Studios had been marketing unlicensed copies of Stormtrooper helmets and costumes, and TIE fighter pilot helmets from the Star Wars films, as well as making misleading claims about the authenticity and origins of these items. The Judgment, by U.S. District Judge R. Gary Klausner, awards damages to Lucasfilm Ltd. for copyright infringement, unfair competition and trademark infringement and permanently bars Shepperton Design Studios from copying, reproducing, importing, licensing, marketing or displaying any of its unauthorized Star Wars products in the United States. Lucasfilm is also pursuing legal action against Shepperton in the U.K., where the company is based, to ensure that the judgment is enforced there. ?Lucasfilm vigorously protects its intellectual property rights in Star Wars,? said Howard Roffman, President of Lucas Licensing. ?Infringers like Shepperton need to understand that we will pursue them anywhere in the world to shut them down and seek restitution.? Roffman noted that many Star Wars fans around the world produce replicas of Star Wars costumes for their own personal use and enjoyment, an activity to which Lucasfilm Ltd. has no objection. One such group, the ?501st Legion? of Stormtroopers, is a global organization that has often worked with Lucasfilm and its partners. ?We appreciate that Star Wars has sparked the imaginations of fans around the world,? he said. ?We would never want to discourage fans from showcasing their enthusiasm for the movies. However, anyone who tries to profit from using our copyrights and trademarks without authorization crosses the line; they become an infringer and we will go after them.? Note the last paragraph guys.
