  1. I've seen some people recommend car polish...
  2. Also remember that you're going to want extra room for insoles. I know I've seen some people recommend dual pairs of insoles for your boots regardless so that will help eat up extra wiggle room.
  3. Yeah thats my plan, and why I want to go with UA since IL is good for the two extremes of hot and cold.
  4. I've been looking at UnderArmour ------- but this really seems to go for all the UnderArmour pants (at least current ones) since they have their logos in bad places for use under armor and they are all very visible (white or reflective silver). Does anyone have any good techniques for either removing or hiding these logos other than black marker?
  5. for the frown and vent holes when I cut them. It was DIRT cheap for the roll on clearance and its not rough like aluminum.
  6. Let me give you a gist of all the tools i have bought in the last week for this project: Hot Glue Gun Hot Glue Devcon Plastic Welder Dremel stylus Dremel attachment kit Rivet gun White 1/8"x1/8" rivets Rivet Washers Light, Medium, & Heavy sandpaper sponges tailor's tape measure blue masking tape 4 each of small, med, & large clamps roll of fiberglass screen pack of thick air conditioner foam stripping And for modding my hasbro blaster, I have: Hammered Silver Rustoleum Plastic spray paint Rustoleum Primer spray paint Satin Black spray paint Matte coat spray paint Small can of Bondo (hasbro mod kit is in the mail) A few more things I need to pick up: Egg timer (you only have a few minutes to work with the Devcon Welder, so the timer helps.) Ind. Velcro (white especially, but you might want both white and black) Crayons (for marking cuts and such) Xacto knife (if I can't track mine down) Thin weather stripping for where armor pieces hit other armor pieces to cut down on "clacking" You're also going to need a drill bit. You can probably get away with using your dremel with the right attachment. You might also want to consider jewelers files for the "teeth" on the helmet. I'm going to try to get away with just using my Dremel with the filing attachment on low. If you want, I can take some pictures of what tools I have (I need to do that for the blog anyways). I probably wont be able to get to that until tomorrow night though.
  7. I have been told by a friend and long time trooper that the Plastic Welder does not create a long lasting secure bond and does tend to fail after time. Has anybody else had similar problems?
  8. It depends on the range of those mics and since they are tiny you might luck out, but Omnis are baaaaaaaaad choices if you have the speakers in your helmet as I will almost guarantee you'll end up with feedback because the pickup area will very likely cross with your speakers and create the feedback.
  9. Glad to know I'm no the only one using their economy stimulus money on trooper armor...
  10. No. Omnidirectional has to do with what direction a microphone will pick up sounds from, and omidirectional will pick up everything around it. Theres a nice chart on wikipedia that shows the different microphone pickup styles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microphone Now that microphone he's using might be an omni but that I wouldn't know.
  11. If anybody wants a version of my avatar for this, let me know. I might put it together for myself after seeing this thread. I think I still have the original psd for it...
