Temp use of Velcro as attachments?
Dark CMF replied to Millar007's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Mine are all snaps. Two snaps. Attached to snap plates that are made of Velcro. Now, they didn't all have snaps to begin with - my bicep-forearm straps were only Velcro because I was ready for approval, and wanted to complete it before I moved. The Velcro in the arms held up alright, for probably fifteen events and then they began to come loose every now and then. If you're otherwise ready for approval, sure... Why not. You can - and will - be upgrading/tweaking your armor for awhile anyway. As Paul said, the thighs in particular can be pretty tricky to fit properly. I fully support his suggestion of keeping them velcroed for a few events if you're unsure about the fit. -
Jefferson, my straps, and all of them that I personally know of are simply glued into the shoulder bells.

Yes, the newest update from Albin provides some perspective, some background, and some peace of mind for anyone spinning up over this. By now, it's old news. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Let's be thankful for the resolution and the added perspective that we've all received. -
I believe it easily rivals Dark CMF in the creativity category.

THIS, is exactly what I'm waiting to see. LoL. Those pictures were a huge source of information for us.

I have a slightly expanded theory about the metal tabs protruding from the shoulder yoke. My theory is derived completely from looking at the "TK dressing room" photos that were revealed recently. (Sorry to hijack your thread a bit, Tony - I'll be brief, especially for me. ) Looking at those pictures, it appears as though the chest/back armor "float" above the wearer's shoulders by way of heavy Velcro attachments on the sides of the ab/kidney sections. Naturally, if the shoulder/yoke piece is not resting on the shoulder, but the shoulder bell did, there would be a distinct drop-off from the yoke to the shoulder bell. Using the metal tab coming through the yoke's outer edges allows the shoulder bell to rest in a position that is nearly parallel to the top of the shoulder yoke. This gives a nice, consistent, broad-shouldered appearance to the armor, no matter who is wearing it, and assures uniformity in the appearance of the TKs. That's my theory, for what it's worth.

November 2015 Newsletter - Sith Edition
Dark CMF replied to Holnave (evan_loh)'s topic in The Newsletter Archive
I've received the "basic" write up for the Memoirs piece. I'm doing some editing and putting my intro/outro into it and it will be ready. I'm also still working on the write-up for Germain. That one will be done pretty soon also. -
Oh, everything is looking amazing, btw, and I'll get in on some of that fabric swatch action as well.

I guess that undersuit reaches the coasts pretty quickly, and takes a little longer to get to Texas. LoL

So those are the insides of the biceps that are split? Thank heaven. Somehow, I had the idea in my head that they were the fronts of them.

LadyInWhite Phasma Build
Dark CMF replied to LadyInWhite's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Can't wait to see the pictures! Exciting times indeed! -
Of course, I just realized you posted this in the TFA section. They are expected to offer the kit fully assembled, but at this time, we don't know for sure what they will include in the box when it ships. There may be other items like boots and a blaster that you'll need/want to purchase in order to look even better than it would otherwise.

Which ANOVOS Kit are you planning to get, exactly? Their ANH TK has been on sale, and will be shipping very soon for the preorders.

The FO TK kits are expected to be available next year.

Generally speaking, they have offered their costumes for sale with the option of assembled, or kit form. As for help, where do you live? We can help connect you with your local Garrison, and of course, we offer a lot of help here. Kind of our thing. there isn't anything against the rules when it comes to buying a kit that is prebuilt, but be aware that Legion approval is based on how your armor fits you specifically. Many pre-built kits require a bit of re-strapping/fitting in order to achieve Legion approval, so be aware of that fact up front as well. Let us know what help,we can provide, and we'll get you on the appropriate path.

The LFL request was made to costume groups in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. No such request was made in North America, that I've been made aware of as of yet.

Thank you for a second source. I think that we can call this confirmed information now.

Same name there that I have here.

It all depends on how many OP DL-44 carriers there are in a match. That weapon and the T-21B will be the only two weapons in use very soon. If there are not DL-44 users, I can typically do alright. Put one of them in the game, and they win all the gunfights.

Strap it already!!!!!

Based on my history lessons, this is exactly how level 2 and 3 begin.
Maybe one day they get moved to level one, but not out of the gate before we've seen the movie at least.

No doubt. I'm fairly certain about all of the above things from looking at these pictures. If they were HD or even slightly closer, oh man... The things we could discover.

Some things that I noticed looking (closely. VERY closely) at these pictures: The Biceps are indeed split in the front. The gaskets are glued/attached to the legs and arms. The Ab/Kidney appears to be held in place by some sort of vest. The chest/back/shoulders appear to be attached to the ab/kidney via Velcro on the sides of the ab/kidney, so that they'll sort of float, without resting on the wearer's shoulders. I suspect that this is the reason behind the metal tab structure that supports the shoulder bells. They don't actually rest on top of the wearer's shoulders

I'm volunteering right now, to be one of the Stormtroopers in any of the movies moving forward. I've been in far worse conditions than that. I could live with myself being there.
