I probably wasn't clear, I guess. I know both the SE-14C and the SE-14r are based off the Rexim. I was wondering if they used the exact same Rexim (likely rented from Baptys) for the cantina scene as they did for the promo shots? Most shots of the SE-14C show it with two scopes and, of course the SE-14r has only one. Do you think the green and red wires remained on the blaster from the cantina scene until the time they did the promo shots (if they were shot in that order) or did they dress the Rexim(s) at two separate times? Going back to the start of the thread, I'm trying to determine what the greeblies were on the SE-14r and if any of them were holdovers from Dr Evazan/Ponda Baba.

Does anyone know if the Dr. Evazan SE-14C blaster (on Ponda Baba's severed arm) from the cantina scene was the same specific base for the SE-14r used in these hero shots? The reason I ask is that this shot clearly shows the green and red wires on the left hand side of the gun. Obviously Dr. Evazan's was outfitted with dual scopes, but perhaps this shows the original configuration of the wires? -----------

I can't verify if it's real or not but it would seem to be a lot of work to put this photo together--blue screen, heavy duty cables typical of a film set and all the rubble, not to mention the TK. I agree it does seem strange--even fishy--to "run across" this, though. Anyway, this photo gives a better idea why the TK is so blurry--it's a very tiny element of the whole pic: -------------

New Official E-11 blaster
Nagedzi replied to DroidHunter's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
It's about 1/2" short in the "pipe" behind the handle. The bulk of the size difference is to the front of the trigger. It'd be tricky to add much on there without altering the proportions (the barrel "vents" and T-tracks get in the way). Frankly, I wouldn't put THAT much work into it. I think I will take the blasters apart and glue the seam together. It divides the gun in half and the seam can be sloppy in parts. I'll try to fill the worst of the gaps. Besides that, I will fill in holes and grind off the text behind the hengstler before painting. -

From the butt end of the blaster (not including the D-ring) to the muzzle end (not including the folded stock), the resin is 18 7/8", the Hasbro is 17 3/4" and the Rubies is 17". -

Okay, I just got my Rubies in (I never thought I would say that LOL). Here it is compared to a Doopydoos resin and a Doopydoos Hasbro conversion. I put rulers along the edge so you can see where lens distortion play a factor. -
TBH, I'm kind of surprised more people aren't stoked to see the first alleged--not concept--full body shots of a stormtrooper on set. Maybe it's because they're admittedly pretty crappy quality...or this thread gets buried quickly...or people are avoiding this thread because it's too spoilery. Yes, Benjamin, I wonder if the cylinder on his left hip is an update to the TD? It looks kind of like a little canteen. Also, if this is an incendiary trooper, is that Baywatch-rescue-float-like thing on his back for his flamethrower? In any case, the armour definitely reads as a stormtrooper from these shots anyway.

Like a sasquatch siting--all blurry and grainy haha.

Photos from the set and what do we see? An actual stormtrooper! Woot woot! http://makingstarwars.net/2014/10/exclusive-photos-stormtrooper-set-star-wars-episode-vii/

Another couple of the chromie--with a cape: https://imageshack.com/i/p7GSiCuOj Edit: link has been "redacted" LOL Edit: Here's a replacement:

Concept art that was "leaked".... Who knows if this is just an early concept and if this iteration of the TK even made it into the film? I do like how it is quite similar to the stormies we know and love, though. I wonder what the circular bits on their arms are? BTW, pauldrons aplenty.

How snug should the thighs fit?
Nagedzi replied to LaserBrain99's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Same deal--cyclist legs here, too. I made sure to angle-cut the back of the thighs. I don't remember what size of strips I used, though. Some people opt to make the rear strip the same width of the entire ridge. I just made them wider than the front, but not the entire width of the ridge. -
ATA helmet has arrived and Im.....
Nagedzi replied to Polar's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
When I did my first, I was thankful that ATA included an extra set of ears.... I learned from that first bucket: take off less than you think you need to. I followed Pandatrooper's (my Garrison CO) tutorial and it was very helpful. My only critique is that I shouldn't have riveted my first lid. I find it's helpful to just use bolts until you're comfortable with building. Also, for what it's worth I like to use a small curved xacto blade on the teeth to get them to their final shape. Good luck! -
According to Star Wars Rebels, it is now canon for TK "commanders" to wear orange ones, as well....

I'm currently sitting at 9: chipper ESB, ANH Stunt, my son's 2 ANH Stunt's, TIE pilot, Imperial Commando (currently painted black), an art project primed red, and 2 completed art pieces. Looking to order up another for a Mr No Stripes chipper build. My wife is okay with mine...as long as i keep them all down at my studio.

Thumbs up for pinning! Not only does it reinforce it, it also ensures that it ends up in the right place when gluing. A little added time for the build, but worth it in the end.

I don't know what their boots look like, but I've seen it mentioned countless times to avoid Star Fortress at all costs. Take that how you will....
-
I would say that the bubble lenses is the number one drawback--they can be hard(er) to see through than flat. There are also fewer makers that make 3-tooth frown faceplates and associated ears. Some people also just like the look of the stunt better (and vice versa).

I picked up one of Shawn's blasters a couple months ago and the casting is absolutely beautiful! You won't be disappointed. If you don't have a scope yet, I ordered a couple from here just cause they're so cheap.... http://www.dx.com/p/4x20-rifle-scope-6280 Here's my little brother in my TI gear holding one of Shawn's blasters with that Tasco scope installed. One recommendation that I can offer is to spin the elevation and windage adjustment bracket (whatever it's called) around 180 degrees. That way you can push the scope farther forward like it is in the hero pics. hope this makes sense....

Glen--GMRhodes13--makes these holsters out of vinyl. I'd message him and see if he any insight. *edit I guess I didn't read through the whole thread before responding lol.

Do you like chrome? Looks a little creepy and that's a good thing.... Source: Indie Revolver

They indicate that this could be the one that Chewie fires in the detention block. If I had to guess, I would say that Chewie/Han's looks more like the black and white one above based on the size and wear pattern of the ammo feed box.

I'm currently building a pair of DLT-19s and have been doing some research on the details. Anyways, I came across this auction link from a couple years ago which offered up a screen-used Bapty-origin DLT-19. I hadn't seen this particular one so I thought I would share it with those of you who hadn't seen it yet: Auction Link They do mention that they replaced the T-strips, but put replacements where the originals were. The spacing of the front set of strips (specifically along the bottom) looks a little different than the arrangement typically done on replicas. I also notice that the disc on the handle is quite different than the one we're all familiar with: I wonder if the disc was also replaced or represents another possible variant? A further note is that the feed cover box looks a a little bigger/beefier, as well. Finally, they seem to indicate that this is one of only two bakelite stocks seen in the film. Is this confirmation, then, that the other two were wood stocks? I know someone else postulated this when looking at the DLT gun rack on the death star in ANH. Anyways, I just thought I'd share and see if anyone has any thoughts on this....

Maybe I'm not aware of all the variations of the MG-34, but isn't the charging handle in the wrong place? Every picture I've seen--including those being fired--show the charging handle right above the trigger. I don't mean to get too nitpicky, but I'm just building one now and noticed this discrepancy. I think in the real world the location of the Doopy charging handle would interfere with the spent belt coming through after being fired, wouldn't it? See for instance on this MG-34: ...and on Han's DLT-19:

New Official E-11 blaster
Nagedzi replied to DroidHunter's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
It looks like they might be available on September 20th-ish according to this site: http://www.buycostumes.com/p/806754/star-wars-rebels-stormtrooper-blaster Grab a couple of these $13 blasters, paint 'em black and you won't feel any remorse if the kids drop them on a troop. Thanks for the heads up!
