  1. At a con, myself and a garrison mate(who was IC-ing at the time and acting as my minder) were just hanging about our stand as the crowd winded down and things were quiet. Too older gents approached us,and it started chatting. No issues,..but they soon became the typical, 'I know more about SW than you do because I was old enough to see it first time' knowitall jerks that always seem to pop up. Coming out with such nuggets as 'it was only renamed Episode 4 in the 90's,',..'the ESB reveal was obvious because Dart Vader is German for 'Dark Father'(which of course it isn't!)' We were happy enough to put up with the drivel, until one of the guys went,' Did ya ever notice the trooper who banged his head?' Before either of us could even reply, he smacks me, full force in the forehead with his open palm. Not a gentle tap, but a full on whack. Another one that pops to mind,..although not a troop. When I first got into trooping, I got a doopydoo E-11. Painted up, I thought I'd show it to my dad(who has never watched a SW movie, but was a policeman for many years, and carried a Sterling) and see what he thought. He seemed impressed, was able to rattle off some Sterling trivia-what it was like to fire, how reliable it was. He started to analyse the blaster, pointing out all the 'stuff' that wasn't on the real gun, how the mag was too short, the stock etc...He then saw the cocking lever and...yup,..you guessed it.Gave it an almighty tug as if it was the real thing, and not a wee resin stick.
  2. Yeah..ANH S is far and away the most popular..but ROTJ is the coolest....not that I'm biased or anything!
  3. I just took a wire coat hanger, wrapped it round a dowel and shoved it into my doopys. Maybe not super accurate...but it does the job for me.
  4. I've said it before..gonna say it again. Joe public will look at these TKs..and ANH TKs...and ESB TKs..and ROTJ TKs....and see Stormtroopers. The silly little differences between them only 'matter' to super anal nerds like us.
  5. There was a (possibly deliberate as an homage?) flipped shot of a group of troopers. Pauldron on wrong shoulder, black circle on backplate mirrored. Noticed all three pauldron colours. Dude on Jakku had a tac vest and backpack. Noticed a trooper speaking into his forearm box as if it was a comm unit. I didn't notice if any regular troopers used the additonal blaster stock..or if that was reserved for Phasma and the Heavy Gunners.
  6. All these toys..from batons to cannons, via pauldrons and backpacks...I'm gonna end up spending as much on accessories as I did on the armour itself!
  7. Bucket off is the best way to relax and get rehydrated. Saying that..you can get a straw through the teeth in the frown if desperate!
  8. Whoops..forgot to post. I was approved 27th October!
  9. I never found it too hard to sit. Getting up again..that's another matter!!
  10. I can sit. Not the most comfortable..but still nice to take the weight off after standing around for a while...
  11. Let's be honest for a minute here...Joe Public will not see any differece between these troopers and those from ANH. After trooping over two years as a ROTJ TK I can tell you nobody has ever asked me why I look different to my garrison mates. A Stormtrooper is a Stormtrooper in the eyes of anyone but us super anal nerds.
  12. Don't worry about it...my TK build spanned over two years!
  13. I have a full resin doopys for my Gunner. It's a perfectly fine trooping weapon. Most of my blasters are resin- but I do make a point of not handing them out willy-nilly to kids to hold. It's a great way to get it dropped and/or stolen!
  14. Nice!! Seeing pics like that is a real morale booster for those of us with this mammoth task ahead of us!
  15. I'm just loving the fact it's a ROTJ trooper with toys. But I may be biased....
  16. I emailed over a week ago with a query,no reply as yet. I assume he's up to his eyes at the minute, so I'm not sweating it,..but I hope he does catch up with comms for the rest of you guys.
  17. This has been a great thread to follow, and reading that this is only your second build is of great comfort to me! Maybe it's not as bad as it first looked....
  18. I agree. I have no interest in this kit(one Imperial TK is enough for my closet)..but this whole 'saga' regarding it's legitimacy is fascinating to follow.
  19. So....in earlier pics where the anovos looked 'exactly' like the RS it was definitely a recast. Now there are pics in which it looks different...and it's still a recast?! This hobby flat out confuses me sometimes....
  20. This is actually one of the reasons I lightly weathered my trooper(another reason being I'm just too lazy to constantly clean and polish it!)- in certain light the trim and moreso the boots can really stand out as being totally different colours to the armour. At least with everything grimy and muddy, that effect is lessened, although not totally eliminated. Your left most pic looks fine,..the furthest right however does look odd. The boots really do stand out, and the blue tube stripes look crazy bright!
  21. I haven't been down Fermanagh direction in ages.Lovely part of the world! Check us out at http://www.501stireland.com/ We have plenty of Stormies who can give you advice on going forward or even lend a hand with a build.
