  1. Very cool Charles. Keep the pictures coming please.
  2. High traffic from Asia? What would cause that?
  3. Careful about asking for shipping costs because of wrong size armor. They may use that as justification to send you proper size armor. I canceled my order when it was in the box ready to leave the store. The manager tried very hard to guilt me into taking it. I finally had to raise my voice and stress "Are you going to give my money back or not?" I got my money back the next day and immediately put my order in with AP.
  4. Sorry, I meant this forum, http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=19329&st=0 Ian is the guy you will want to talk to.
  5. Try checking out this forum "The various types of armor and where to get them" http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=11538 My Jedi-robe order was in their store ready to ship that day when I first discovered FISD. Got it cancelled in the nick of time. A few pages in that forum is a guy who bought from there and he posts pictures. He also modded his suit to 501 standards. He could help you out info wise.
  6. How about sewing shoulder pads into your undersuit? It would raise your front and back plates a couple centimeters and make your neck look shorter. Still sweet looking armor though.
  7. This list should be added to the trusted builders list so the good and bad builders are on the same thread for easy reference. Great job.
  8. Leia, Most armor makers do not have websites. Happy customers speak well of them on this site. Get AP Armor made by Mark (Authentic Props). Most say his is the best for smaller people and he has a builder that will make it for you for an extra cost. It will take several months but worth it in the end. Search AP armor on this site and you will see many examples of his suits.
  9. Going to need a few modifications to get your EIB.
  10. I picture half the FISD doubled over with armor bite if you try that dance routine.
  11. Could always go for that Dark Helmet spaceballs look.
  12. Got to kill the time somehow until my armor arrives. If you were part of the Canadian Garrison at FanExpo Toronto 2011 then you may be standing beside me.
  13. I'm the guy in the middle!.......oh, wait...well this is akward.
  14. Thanks Major. Glad to see I'm not alone with this catch-22 situation. I'm well off and travel to cons all over North America every year. I'll just join a different Garrison if neccessary and troop with them. Until I get my TK designation I'll gladly settle with the good folks at FISD.
  15. First off I just want to say that the FISD and all its members have been kind and more than helpful in assisting me in getting started with this great hobby. I only wish other garrisons had the same courtesy as the members here. I live near Toronto Canada and it was suggested on many posts that I should contact my local garrison for advice from people in my area to help me get set up. So I contacted the 501st.ca which is the Canadian detatchment and asked about getting access to view their forums. Got a very short and terse response from Roy demanding my TK number and if I didn't have one I cannot have access. How does Roy expect to attract new recruits when his garrison won't even allow potential new members to ask questions to their members? Does he think I'm some kind of rebel spy who is going to steal the secret as to wether he has one or two rivets on his cod piece? It would have been nice to talk to some fellow local Canadian troopers and benefit from their advice on getting set up or assistance with costuming, but when it comes to the Canadian garrison it's TK or get lost. If I had written to Roy before buying my suit I probably would have said forget it. I'm glad I was fortunate enough to come to the FISD first and met a great bunch of Star Wars fans with a penchant for assisting charity. Just wanted to get that off my chest.
  16. Re: The northerly TK's Full body longjohns under the undersuit! At least that,s my plan when my AP armor arrives.
  17. And don't forget, the best part is these suits are designed to kill you if you get shot. (See "The Wounded Stormtrooper" on YouTube. )
  18. I ordered my AP armor fully built on April 28th and was told by Mark it would take a minimum of 10 weeks to complete. Now on these boards I hear from people who have been waiting over 20 weeks without arrival. If you ordered AP would you mind letting those of us who are waiting how long your delivery time was? Also, if you had it built for you, were the shins alright or were they left uneven from the builder. Was the uniform complete or did you need to add anything like the extra ammo clips on the belt? I'm hearing different stories but some of these go back many years and I would appreciate any updated information. Cheers
  19. Well if that's the case I may have to dust off my cylon suit for FanExpo in Toronto at the end of August. I had hoped for my first troop by then.
  20. You've been waiting over 20 weeks? Have you spoke to Mark about why it's taking so long? Was he waiting for enough orders to do a molding run?
  21. Greetings Charles, I'm from Orillia north of you. I ordered my AP on April 28th and like you I wanted it built and with all the extras. At the time Mark told me his builder had 8 suits he was working on ahead of me. He advised a minimum 10 week wait time. Got my undersuit from House of Scuba and it arrived in 4 days. I wear a size 9 and TK Boots said my size as well as 10 and 11 were sold out and there would be a six week waiting period. Ordered a doopydoo but it hasn't arrived yet. Went for the 16 watt Aker but still shy about spending another $100 more for the icomm. I'll see what the Aker sounds like first and then decide. I've only been on this site a couple weeks and the people have been most helpful and I'm still finding information I need everywhere here. I'm planning to join the 501st in Toronto when I get set up. Probably run into you at FanExpo at the end of August. Cheers.
  22. To Ian: Thank you kindly for the info you provided. Looks like you're the order ahead of me with AP. Let me know when you get it. I have no knack with tools so I'm having AP make it ready to wear. That's not a bad blaster you got from jedirobe. I'm still looking. SDS is out of my budget and I really don't want to put together a resin kit (again it's the no good with tools thing). Considering I'm on a 10 week wait for the armor I still have good time to find something. Cheers Michael
