  2. I hadn't given the tips a closer inspection yet. Will do so later but would love to see your process photos Walt.
  3. It's fun for adults to do too. When it's slow I always sneak up to the range and take both large guns and unload 40 darts in 10 seconds!
  4. So instead of more Trooping today, it was clean the house and. It the grass day. To unwind i poured a big glass of tasty Bourbon and had a go at the whee little helmet. God Damn I love the smell of ABS being trimmed and sanded. Here is cap and back bolted in position with eyes rough trimmed. And here it is next toy AP ESB for scale. And here we have the faceplate with teeth and eyes trimmed. About 90% happy with trimming. A bit more and I'll be done and move on to evilness that is the ears.
  5. Greetings troopers, decided to knock off the week's worth of dust on my TK and get right back at it again at the Superfan Comiccon event here in Toronto. it is the organizer's first attempt at a large-ish con. Here are a couple photos I have acquired or taken of not only myself but other s in attendance.
  6. Sorry for delays. Been out if town and then has a little con to attend yesterday. Blah blah blah Roughy trimming complete. I'll be moving work outdoors for sanding and Dremel work soon. Nothing exciting to show yet. But progress will pick up steam soon.
  7. I am building one of Walt's 80 TK kids for my kids and I will eventually need to get a decent boot for them to wear. Currently they are about a size 4 or 5 (8 and 10 years old). I have no issues dying the boots if needed, I am just not having much luck seeing anything in the stores that would be acceptable looking and by acceptable, these are just kids kits, so I don;t need Centurion level perfect thx
  8. Find a local RC hobby shop and get a pair of Lexan curved scissors. It will speed up your rough trim significantly.
  9. Great start. Sorry I missed the Armour party. We have some great local help to assist you if you get stuck this summer. I am sure we will cross paths soon.
  10. I just acquired a new set of plastic, a Walt 80 (80% scale) TK. The ideal height for this armour is ~4'6". It can be trimmed down to 4' and work with a height up to 4'11" (as per maker of the kit). My daughter is 4'6" and my son is 4'4" (currently). I plan to build this kit based on the mold lines in order to maximize the life of the kit. I will build with the appropriate return edges initially. If the kids have issues with mobility, that will be a likely area I will trim down. After my kids outgrow, I will offer it to my garrison mates to use with their kids as needed. I am not sure how detailed I intend to be, but I will try to post progress as often as I can. Here is the requisite armour laid out - untrimmed. Here is the plastic pile after the first evening of rough trimming (aka removing 90% of the excess plastic and flashing. end of update.

  12. Added: CP24 and Toys R Us May the 4th events
  13. The Canadian Garrison and Galactic Academy headed up to Vaughn Mills Shopping Centre's Toys R Us to help support their May the 4th Be With You Promotion.
  14. The Canadian Garrison and Galactic Academy infiltrated CP24's Breakfast Television to promote May the 4th Be With You day!
  15. added "Make-a-Wish Canada World Wish Day"
  16. The Canadian Garrison had the very special honour of attending the Make-a-Wish Canada World Wish Day event at amazing Casa Loma. The event also marked The Toronto-Central Ontario's granting of wish #1000 by sending a great young lady to England. To share the words of a fellow trooper: "Met a lot of very brave parents and their even braver kids tonight. It was strange to hear them thank us for making their day when to me it was so clearly the other way around. In a world where these families so frequently hear "no, you can't," it was really rewarding to be part of an evening where some of them could hear "yes, you can." I hope they all felt like princes and princesses at Casa Loma, especially the one lucky and deserving girl getting her wish to visit Disney World!" Here is the trooper group photo.
  17. I have a kit that Skyminer build, he is part of my garrison. I started using it back in November, and I would call it game-changing. Being able to hear the sounds around you clearly in stereo from up to 25 ft away, I love it. The mics are small and occupy the smallest open teeth area on the frown. invisible to anyone not looking for them. There will be some troops where you just don;t want it (say during a symphony performance) but for most events, cons and the like, not having to say HUH? all the time is great. I loved it so much I put a 2nd kit in my Tusken.
  18. Added Run or Walk for Southlake Hospital
  19. The Canadian Garrison dropped in a small landing party of Stormtroopers to investigate the goings on at the Aurora Community Centre this morning. It turns out the disturbance in the the Force that Lord Vader was sensing was just a whole bunch of great people gathering to Run or Walk to raise money for Southlake Hospital. To date, over $126,000 has been raised. Their goal was to get to $175,000 by May 1st. Here are some photos scraped from the web:
  20. My son begged for armour but they grow too fast. A month after finishing robes they had already started outgrowing them. I have to sew new ones before Fan Expo in August. I don't want to do it too early or else I'll be in same boat as now.
  21. Jawas, are the most popular on The troops where I bring them along. People love em.
  22. April 19, 2014 GTA Comic Con Toronto, Canada The troops they are coming fast and furious as the weather is improving in these parts. Today we had a chance to attend the first ever GTA Comic Con. It was a fun little one day show. Me and the Jawas joined the Canadian Garrison to support the event. Backing up the Jawas:
