  1. Interesting idea! To help out both Kathy and I have just been EIB approved so that is one for both sides!
  2. Thanks Matthias and everyone for all their help and support! Cheers Darren! Can't wait to troop as an EIB! See you at Cardiff!
  3. Thanks Phil! I did work hard to try to get that effect! With my previous armour you could always tell that I was a short trooper! Now as long as I only stand next to Kathy no one will ever know!
  4. As my newly painted Ab buttons have finally dried I have included new photos to show the repositioned drop boxes.
  5. Hi Mark, Yes as I understand it the Hasbro blaster is allowed for EIB as long as it has the Dooby Doos conversion kit. The bottom T-track has to be removed to leave 6 T-tracks and not 7 and a new set of vent holes needs to be drilled. It is Centurion level which does not allow Hasbro blasters even if modified.
  6. No problem Jesse, apology accepted! It is easy to unintentionally say the wrong thing sometimes. But as they say 'it takes a big man to apologise'! Good luck with your build. Ian
  7. Thanks Darren, Yes Kathy will also be applying for EIB soon. Watch this space!
  8. Hi again, I have removed the Midnight blue and repainted the buttons with Humbrol 14 French Blue. I can't believe I made such a basic error. As mentioned in my previous post I have also moved the drop boxes to the correct position.
  9. Thanks Guys, My fault with the drop boxes. I was told the correct positioning by Bill who also advised me to shorten the length of the elastic. I did shorten the elastic but forgot to move the boxes in. I have now moved them to the correct position as per the below photos. Original position Amended position Thanks for the colour chart Phil. I will get the correct colour blue tomorrow and change the Ab buttons to the right shade on both our armours. Thanks
  10. Hi Guys, The colours used for the Ab buttons are Humbrol AD grey 5 and Humbrol Midnight Blue 15 - I understood these were the correct colours for ANH. Waist size is 32 in.

  12. Jesse, So I am dumb and lazy? With regard to being dumb, I am a qualified teacher with an honours degree. Furthermore, as to being lazy, I have completed three sets of cleared UKG armour within the last eight months. Therefore I find your comments very offensive! I bought the armour originally as a costume for a special celebration party. I didn't do any research because being totally unaware of the 501st or UKG, I didn't realise this was necessary. At the time I had no idea that you could troop and (as previously mentioned) only ironically discovered this on JR’s own website. I naively thought that ‘you get what you pay for’. Being a novice with regard to TK armour, the only alternative I found was SDS which was a similar price but without the blaster and many peripherals included. Naturally I assumed that this was the sort of price you had to pay for this sort of costume. Having discovered the 501st and FISD, imagine my dismay to discover that my ‘premium price’ armour was not only recast but openly frowned upon for 501st use. I did not choose JR as the ‘easy option’. Believe me, had I known that I could have had got a far better quality ‘build it yourself’ kit for half the price, I would have jumped at the chance. You seem to think it is funny that people get ripped off , hence your LOL comment! The idea of threads like this is too make sure other people do not suffer the same fate. Think yourself lucky you did not fall for JR but your good fortune does not mean that it is acceptable to make fun or insult people who did. I suggest you think more carefully before tarring everyone with the same brush! Ian
  13. Mathias is quite correct! My Jedi Robe armour was unbelievably expensive for such a poor quality kit. It was supposed to be a 'ready to wear' costume and was originally chosen because of the 'Reduced Size armour' claims. Being only 5ft 4in I naively assumed that it was my size that was the reason for the dreadfully poor fit despite the the 'reduced size'. The irony was that I only became aware of the 501st through Jedi Robe's own website! As hard to believe as it sounds I initially thought that the JR armour was 'good' (despite the fit)! After spending a little time on the 501st forums I soon discovered what good armour actually looks like and wished I'd found them earlier. Being unable to return the armour due to already modifying it I was stuck with it and forced to make the best of a bad job. Months of hard work later I did get it cleared but had to trim every part of my 'ready to wear' armour. I also had to change the neck seal, holster, gloves, bodysuit, belt, lenses and most important of all boots! This all added to the already extortionate price I had paid for this armour. My JR armour did get me into the 501st and all my fellow UKG Troopers have made me feel very welcome. I have done 9 troops in it but even though no one has ever made any negative remarks I always felt that the armour was second class (if not lower) despite my best efforts. I am so proud to be a part of the 501st and part of this pride means that I want to represent the 501st/UKG in the best way possible. So I have now replaced my JR armour with AP and my wife also wears this armour. Both our kits required minimal trimming compared to the JR. In my case I only had to trim the forearms, shins and thighs. More importantly the quality and fit is remarkably superior. Furthermore, the cost of both AP trimmed kits is roughly about what I paid for the JR and that says it all!
  14. Thanks for all your comments guys! We would both like to go for EIB and even Centurion when we can!
