Isaac's AM build - newbie- picture heavy[*AM]
LadyInWhite replied to theisaac's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I'm going to say it's about fit and comfort. I first built mine too long and they are still too "big" compared with all my other pieces, but I couldn't really taper any more. (Girly wrists) I know a lot of guys also pad the inside a bit so they don't move around, which suggests to me that they are a bit big on them. As for the trim, yes, you'll want to take a bit of the upper return edge off to avoid "armor bite" - you'll be doing this as well to your thighs and shins. GOOD LUCK! Your boys are absolutely gorgeous! -
E-build... here we go... need advice!
LadyInWhite replied to LadyInWhite's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
My husband suggested velcro (and I seem to recall seeing this from few bucket guts photos)... seems to be going all right for now, and also allows me to replace easily or swap 4AAs for the 9V. The fan is super quiet until it is in the bucket. It seems if it is touching anything it vibrates and gets a tiny hum. Is this normal? -
Yep, I'm stumped - not by the electronics rigging I'm doing, but by (gulp) how to attach it inside the helmet! I bought two ADDA 12V fans, 40mmx15mm. Silent as can be. Tiny and not a LOT of air, but still a pretty good breeze. Run on 9V or four AA. I was hoping it might squeeze on two AA but no go. The AA boxes have switches; I don't have a 9V holding box yet. I hear the 9Vs run out of power quickly, so something swappable would be great. (Having four AAs to power one fan is super heavy.) SO - QUESTION IS ... How do I attach the components into the helmet? Especially the fan. It has screw holes and not much else to attach to. I was thinking I'd put it over the teeth holes or in the chin blowing up. Or I could put lower and run a little hose up. (It's not a squirrel fan.) Should I mount some abs goo to screw into? Or just e6000 those babies? Or... ? Thanks, experts!!! -----------

Voice changer for female troopers?
LadyInWhite replied to Ryss's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
Ditto here. At first I loved the idea of being anonymous, a "supporting" role, and assumed male. And I have the right "build" to blend in that way. However, the support for being yourself is also wonderful, because now I don't feel like I have to meet some kind of "maleness" standard. In fact, I kind of like breaking the 70s stereotypes of women's roles (in military, as pilots in BSG 1978, etc.) and sharing the love with girls. Just not teenage girls who think I'm a dude. Cuz they slap bums pretty hard. As for Jenny's cod piece, well, if she didn't keep trying to make it into a French bikini it might work better! J/k! -

Is this still working or are there just no birthdays? It is extremely convenient for my coffee break. -
The Road to 300 (FISD EIB, that is) Stormtroopers - Achieved!
LadyInWhite replied to Daetrin's topic in Off Topic
As it seems more and more ladies have been applying for EIB lately, I'd like to propose a challenge. Hopefully one to motivate, not cause any strife for anyone! What percentage of those 2300 TKs are female? What if we aim for the same percentage of EIB female? Who can get to their respective percentage first - the men or the women? :leia: -

Voice changer for female troopers?
LadyInWhite replied to Ryss's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
I'm kind of with you, Mysie, though my son (6) is the first to point out to the entire universe that "that one is my mom!!!" and he's proud as punch. I was worried about the dude thing too until I read this thread a few weeks ago. I'm still debating about being heard at all - I talk TOO much (as y'all may have noticed) - being anonymous AND silent might have some advantages. For everyone. I am still digging into fans and I do have an Aker, but I haven't taken the plunge for an iComm or anything yet. -
Question about Drop Box closure
LadyInWhite replied to LadyInWhite's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I could cast or fill. Cast is work, obviously, but avoids me destroying anything by accident. Fill is super easy... mix A & B, pour, let set. I was thinking of casting a "pocket" but truth is they are so easily "ripped off" the belt I wouldn't want it to be any heavier, which is why I though the Feather Lite would work - resin that floats on water. (I need to use it for something! On the other hand, always easiest to order... thanks for the link! -
Contact the seller because sometimes that means someone else got the other piece x2 by mistake They can arrange a swap if that's the case.

TK-6818 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB Status[209][AP]

THANKS, GUYS! Yes I have my list of about 4 things to do to finish off Centurion. Thanks for the tips I would rather have latrine duty. -
Armor arrived! Okay lets build this reactor^^
LadyInWhite replied to Colt's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Building with Cat Minions is the BEST WAYTO GO!!! I had four helpers, one of whom slept with his head in my face plate a lot. Their favorite nap spot was the long, flat box where I kept all the pieces. Good luck! Well, you don't need luck, just patience, glue, and ... patience. -
Howdy, folks, I have some "Feather Lite" resin from a prop shop that I was considering (with other materials) to cast a drop box enclosure, OR to simply just fill in my boxes. --------- Has anyone tried this yet? If so, any advice? I'm also curious if the drop box can or should be flat/flush on the back, or if it needs some kind of groove along the inner edge like some of the inserts. If I do this, and it works, and I do the casting method, I could cast a bunch for folks. Thanks!

I really don't know why this makes me nervous considering I started my build with this intent and working up to Centurion... Armor = AP Helmet = AP Blaster = Sci-Fire (rubber/cast) Height = 5'11" Weight = 180 lb Boots = Trooper Supply Canvas belt = er... Rob Hand Plates = AP Neck Seal = LadySewForUs Holster = AP Mic Tips = Sskunky from TrooperBay Gloves = chemical gloves ------------- HELMET Mic tips in these photos are the old ones... Here's the new ones... installed today... Let me know if you need more detail or anything... All details except tube stripes are hand painted. ------------- BODY I hated the way the thighs looked so I tapered them more and they look even more fitted now. ------------- DETAILS These look a bit dark but they are definitely the prescribed blue and gray. THE END! Thank you for your review, and please let me know if anything is amiss!

Procrastinate now, so you'll be ready to actually build when it arrives! Kidding!!! I think if you have nothing better to do, go get some ABS for-sale signs and cut them up and start making snap kits. When you're done trimming it'll be the last thing you want to do.

Four eons later... This is what it looks like if you inspect it closely. My eyebone cut looks pretty straight, so it's something about the bulging INSIDE the helmet that's warping it. ----------- And here's what it looks like from a frontal, "untrained eye" point of view (aka someone wanting a photo)... --------- So maybe you can't really tell and I should let it go? -
Well then, I guess I'll be buyin! Unless they're available at hardware stores...

HOWTO: Modifying Armor for Women
LadyInWhite replied to bobojuice's topic in Tutorials, Tips and HOWTOs
FABULOUS! Where were you in October!!! Seeing the side-by-side is especially great and goes to show you build to fit the wearer, one size does not fit all. If I consolidate only the ladies' tips from my build ramble and post them here, the "women's build" instructions will be complete.
