EJGreen's RT-MOD (Stunt) Build Thread[*RT]
Darth Aloha replied to EJGreen's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I would be curious if the brackets would allow the chest to sit right on you. In my experience with the tall ab plate and the larger chest there may be too much overlap to use the brackets. Certainly do a lot of fitting before you decide to screw those brackets in. Some folks who have a return edge just put the screws in the chest that attach to nada. And sadly you have to request return edges from RT if you want them. The bottom of the chest return edge changes the whole look of the armor. But that is how I spot RT kits is the lack of chest return. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
LOL that would be some tight fitting armor. Nope. It's all fit during assembly. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's not the forum software... its the server itself.... and doofus! That has nothing to do with how much IE sucks. -Eric
-
Actually you can use the IMG tags even without flipping the switch. Just type them in the editor as would do anything else. Maybe at some point the new version of our forum software will be more internet explorer friendly. -Eric
-
Oh hm. Are you both using internet explorer? -Eric

I'm going to have side both with Cranky the Swede on this one and Captain Hippy Longhair. Here are my opinions on the matter: The staff is already overwhelmed with the uptick in traffic and can barely keep up even reading posts. Even if we locked one thread another one will (and has) popped up about shirts, patches, and other swag. I tried it. It happens. Posting "I'm interested!" in a thread that isn't actually asking for people to say they are interested is pointless and should be discouraged. I've discouraged it (and posting your paypal transaction IDs) in the past but as often as I've said it people don't read the whole thread and do it anyways. Both the racing shirts and patches will be sold in different threads than the ones people are incessantly posting in so following them does little. People are swag crazed. I suggest unfollowing those types of threads and bookmark them for later viewing instead. Or just stop their notifications and just check your "subscribed" threads on tapatalk now and then. -Eric

More importantly accurate enough for the fans who have been going utterly bananas for the TFA troopers that are out there already. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

See Berbs? Was that so hard? You're totally right. I'll change it when I can. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This is my choice for a tactical vest: -Eric

Hmmm. Tactical vest? Do we have enough reference material to do put that in the CRL even as optional? Roger. I'll make another pass and clean up some language. -Eric

You can easily make your FX armor look pretty good. Good enough to go Expert Infantry. Honestly just making your FX be approvable at all will make you look pretty great. There have been enough changes to the base level requirements that it will force you to make easy mods. Just by replacing the helmet most of the general public (remember them? The people we troop for?) couldn't tell the difference between you and a centurion. Make it hit the base CRL and you'll blend right in easily. Remember EIB was made to help fx look better and like the rest of the TK armor out there. Centurion is for us. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Now that I think about it... the RT TD is too small of a diameter. I bet your clips were made for a bigger tube. -Eric -
Troopers, The detachment recently voted to ratify this policy that describes how the FISD CRLs are changed. As it stands now there is no formal process for a Detachment Leader to propose changes to the Legion Membership Officer. To ensure that every future FISD DL follows the same procedure this policy was created. There are two big picture messages to read into the verbiage: Every change must be communicated to the detachment by the DL regardless of the method Having the detachment vote on a CRL change is the preferred way of modifying our standards. Aloha, -Eric FISD CRL Policy INTRODUCTION This document serves as the 1st Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment (FISD) policy pertaining to changes to the Costume Reference Library (CRL) for all Stormtrooper costume variants. As of this writing of this policy no formal 501st Legion process has been implemented for a detachment to advise the Legion Membership Officer (LMO) on changes to the TK CRLs. The purpose of this detachment level policy is to ensure consistency in the process as well as create a clear understanding within FISD on how and when CRLs are updated. ROLES Legion Membership Officer (LMO) Per the Legion Charter the LMO supervises the Detachment Leader and represents the detachment on the Legion Council. The LMO has final say regarding all changes to the FISD CRLs. It is preferable that the LMO consult the FISD DL before updating the CRLs, however LMO may make changes at his/her discretion. Detachment Leader (DL) As the chief administrator of FISD the DL is the solely responsible fo communicating with the LMO on all CRL matters including proposing changes and edits. The DL coordinates all activity within the detachment related to CRL changes. These activities include the scheduling of voting on CRL changes, deciding what CRL changes are to be voted on by the detachment membership, and communicating any and all changes to the detachment membership. FISD Provost Marshal (PM) The PM is responsible for posting and moderating CRL change discussion threads and creating the CRL change poll threads. FISD Detachment Membership The detachment membership consists of registered forum users with approved TK costumes. All detachment members encouraged to participate in the discussions surrounding proposed CRL changes in addition to voting for proposed CRL changes. CRL CHANGES There are three mechanisms by which a FISD CRL is changed. They are detachment membership vote, DL discretion, and LMO intervention. All CRL changes regardless of the method must be communicated by the DL to the detachment membership in a timely manner. Detachment Membership Vote A vote by the detachment membership is the preferred method for changing the FISD CRLs. If a DL decides to amend the CRLs in any way only one period of voting per DL term shall occur. The voting process is split into three phases. The first phase is staff discussion, the second phase is a detachment membership discussion period and the second is the voting by way of forum thread poll. The steps by which a proposed change is put up for vote are as follows: Once elected the DL decides if and when to change the CRL. DL creates a post in the staff area of the forums detailing the proposed changes one month before the membership discussion period. Two weeks before the voting period the PM creates discussion threads in the Detachment Only section of the forum. Each thread shall have the proposed wording changes or additions listed in the first post. Voting begins after two weeks of membership discussion. The PM shall create a thread per change with a forum poll associated with the change. The exact wording of the changes must be listed in the first post. The membership then votes for the specific wording in the poll thread. At the conclusion of a two week voting period the DL posts in the GML section on the 501st forums proposing changes for the LMOĆ¢ā¬ā¢s review. DL Discretion There may be special circumstances when the DL requests a CRL change directly with the LMO. If the DL decides to make a change the membership must be notified by posting in the Detachment Only section of the forum. LMO Intervention The LMO has final say on all CRL changes and may decide to make a change without consulting with the DL. This method is discouraged by FISD.

I started adding some words to the first post. I'll keep adding stuff as I have a moment to work on it. Feel free to start suggesting your own verbiage for any part. The goal is make costumes approvable not to capture every single detail of the costume. This is not up for debate. -Eric

Awesome attention to screen detail Looks right off the Tantive IV. I love the chipper helmet and all the white glue on the elastic. Did you do the thigh attachment the same way? -Eric -

Looks ok to me. I would have left 1/8" between the caps and the clip though. It matters more how the control panel sits when it's in your belt and not as much as how much clip is showing. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Yeah don't worry about the shin closure. If Gaz dings you on it down the road tell him to come talk to me or Tim. Oh yeah... the RT sniper knee. You'll need a lot of different clamps of various types, a lot of E-6000, a beer or two and patience. Once you get it in place with the glue slathered liberally on the front of the shin and then on the sides leave it clamped for at least 3 days. I also suggest roughing up the surfaces on the shin and inside of the plate with some sandpaper to help adhesion. Don't be tempted to use CA glue... please. -Eric -

I just made the change now... someone please double check my work. I'm having one of those days. I'll start working on uploading the higher res photos this afternoon. I'm not sure about the thermal det wording. I'll try and figure out what's up with that too. Thanks for your patience. -Eric -
