  1. Thanks for all the really kind comments. Conny took some great photos today and was very patient whilst we were trying to get the angle and the pose right for the promo shot. John, I do think the blaster gets a bit neglected in the whole scheme of things too. I would always encourage anyone putting together a TK outfit to dedicate time and effort into getting the blaster right. This is my fist pipe build and it's probably been more of a challenge for me than putting armour together was the first time I did it. But, it's been a really rewarding and fun project. And it's a lot more satisfying having a blaster which is a half decent representation and matches your armour. Oh, and I'm 1.72m, just short of 5'8", so only just a touch taller than you are, I think. You can probably imagine how much plastic I had to lose from round the neck on the chest plate so that I could connect it at the correct height to the torso.
  2. Got my blaster (snowtrooper/greeblies version) finished and with it my ESB promo pictures trooper outfit. Took a few snaps out in the sun ... Well, almost ... Thanks to Steve (Tangoe'd Fett) for the great resin greeblies and Paul for the unbeatable armour.
  3. Happy now, fellers?
  4. Look. I'd built a lovely stormtrooper suit, and all I said to my wife was 'That piece of armour was good enough for Ginohovah' I don't think it ought to be blasphemy, just saying 'Ginohovah'.
  5. Well, I got my blaster build completed. It's far from perfect but good enough for a first attempt and I've got a blaster for my ESB outfit again at last. I learned a lot along the way and enjoyed the build. The next one will be better ...
  6. - How do you know he is a recaster? - HE LOOKS LIKE ONE!!!! BAN HIM, BAN HIM!!!! - They dressed me up like this! - Well, did you? - We'll we did the vocoder. And the tube stripes ... .... so if he weighs the same as a Stunt helmet .... he's made of ABS .... and a recaster!!!! BAN HIM, BAN HIM!!!!
  7. P.S. Put me on the list for the next generation of armour please, Paul! EDIT: This is a qualifying statement because ... IN MY LAST POST I WAS BEING SARCASTIC.
  8. To imply that Paul is a recaster. There, I said it. So, we can all stop farting about and pretending that the thread was ever about anything else. And, yes folks, I can now exclusively reveal that Paul is indeed a recaster .... and what's more .... he's a really rubbish one! Look at the differences in these pieces of armour despite him having ripped off the TE-lineage suit (see pictures below). Pathetic!
  9. Felicidades, Daniel. Tu armadura es guapísima.
  10. Boring? I'll give you "boring", young man! That's my favourite style of E-11 I'll have you know! I'm doing one with Steve's parts too though. In fact, they arrived yesterday whilst I was out and I can pick them up from the post office later. Yay! If I were doing a Snowtrooper, it's the version I would want for it too.
  11. Looking good, Rolf. Always liked the look of your sandy weathering. And now I know how you do it!
  12. Looks like a very nice fit and a nice neat job. Enhorabuena, Daniel.
  13. No, these are more recent. Just ANH.
  14. John, I downloaded those screen caps here somewhere. I can't find the link at the moment.
  15. Good job you can understand my mother tongue, Karin! And ... er ... no, I'm not going to make the inside of my calves that dirty.
  16. True. Unless they start out much bigger. Just thinking out loud anyway. Here are some more good shots ...
  17. I'm afraid you've completely lost me.
  18. Another possibility: the guards were moulded and then trimmed to fit. Some were left straighter other were trimmed with more of a curve.
  19. Things I'm not planning to do in my armour any time soon ...
  20. I've given this a bit of thought (being one of "these guys"). I think the material is more resistant to tearing than the original material but that of course does not mean it will never break. If the connections break and my brackets are ripped out, I think my first step will be to carry out some typical running repairs with rivets and washers (as seen on the suit above). Let nature run its course and make sure the repairs reflect those on screen-used suits. If that failed I personally would retire my suit to a manequin for display. But I'm fortunate enough to own two suits of armour. I realise not everyone has this luxury. The other alternative is to add some non-authentic (but more sturdy) strapping with snap plates. There's nothing preventing anybody going this route straight away whilst still using the 1mm plastic. Place the connections in the same places and the suit will "behave" similarly on the outside as a suit with authentic strapping. Whether or no the screw holes on the return edges will tear with time I don't know, but I'm 100% convinced of the durability of the material itself. It's thinner but it's much less brittle than eveyrthing else I've had in my hands. I'd go as far as to say I think it's more durable than the 2mm stuff. I had a very hard time trying to tear it.
  21. I was just jealous of all the comments you got for your haircut!
  22. Thanks, man. I'll tell you after I've worn it a few times.
  23. John, Karin, Good work. I think you're onto something. The screen cap I posted is the clearest example but to my eyes there are a lot of examples of very straight-edged right handguards. Karin, when you do the run of latex Stunt guards, I'd like mine like that please!
