almost any surface can be polished with time and effort, even a turd
its just an thought but is there a place around you that paints autos? i dont think it would cost very much to paint a set of armor
just an idea

at my first unofficial troop (a relatives birthday at a swimming pool) i got asked if it was hot wearing my suit, i replied " yes i am dying in here, they have pretty good AC on the death star" it got quite a laugh from the crowd
-
really not sure on that, its probably best check with the sellers directly for shipping and prices as things always change
-
Thanks!
Does the ATA equal MOT? Cause I have been hearing bad things about them. Also, how accurate is it? Is it good quality and what is the material and thickness? Oh and of course: is it 501st approved?
no it is not MOT, and it is very nice in my opinion, i have one and plan on getting a second one it is HIPS not ABS so it needs to be painted.
remember to look here, if its on this list it is 501st approved

and do a lot of research before you buy anything

welcome aboard , i would recommend an ATA kit, it is affordable and a fun kit to put together and paint it is made in the US so i dont know if it will work for you.. but it should fit your budget and keep you busy for a bit
you can also check out this thread in case you missed it

1st: Congrats! Awesome armor you have there! > THANKS!
2nd: Correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't have a TKID yet, right? I need a TKID for your EIB profile pic. (Unless Terrell agree to put your EIB pic without TKID.)
>i am approved 501st but still waiting for my TKID
3rd: Fifth picture from top is OK for the profile pic? The helmet is fully visible and will fit in the frame.
> OK, anything is fine
4th: Say hi to Brian Fong if you see him! will do (but he is quite far from my location)
Cheers.
BTW: I liked the pics with your son on it! ty lol

thanks guys it was a bit of work but it was a fun build, i im thinking of doing a ROTJ build next, now that i have some armor building experience
-
nice work! and good luck with acceptance..

i did all i could to keep my son out of the shots... but he got into a few. i did all these shots solo by a timer, least to say it was no easy task.. try working a camera with rubber gloves lol, i had to hit buttons with a pencil
close up of weathering (the whole suit is weathered in this fashion) scuffed up and blackwashed
helmet ( all hand painted, no stickers or decals)

Hey Mason - when you can could you possibly take one side ways against the full plastic sheet? I'd like to use this for the Incinerator CRL when the time comes. Pretty exciting - can't wait to see the full suit too.
That free gold coin for the first Incinerator Trooper Expert Infantryman is still up for grabs ;-)
i made up these pics LMK if there ok

"weilding a Plasma Canon just seems so much more bad a$$ than anything a TK Commander would carry!"
that was one of the reasons i chose the INC as well, great to have another incinerator in the ranks!
-
the More Accurate build is finished, i made a storage container in the fuel canister for small items it also is ultra light weight..
im kinda sad to let this one go jk
i will add some templates shortly
-
this is the second attempt and it is detailed much closer to the game, its not 100% done but really close
the photos are bad lol
-
don't give up!! if a particular part of the build is giving you problems dont be afraid to ask for help, remember "there is more than one way to skin a cat". perhaps with the with the wealth knowlage here you could find a solution that works for you.
Confucius says "It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop."

version 2 is going to be far more accurate and 1/2 the weight
-
Thanks ^^
The thermal detonator is on the way for being painted.
Validation pics this week end
i should have your flamethrower just about done by this weekend my new bandsaw has helped a lot so i am able to build a bit faster, also i think this next one will weigh considerably less than my first one
ille get pics up for you in a few days
good luck on your validation

one word... wait there is no words to describe that... just an action: DROOL
-
this is what my garage is giving birth to next bear in mind it is far from finished, i am still in the first stages of the build ...
but this is the idea

here are the measurements and a parts breakdown for anyone that needs them
unfinished barrel (cuts are the thickness of standard masking tape)
-
i think both shoulder bells should be worn most defiantly.. but i think the pauldron should be optional as the wrap around style is more accurate and unique to the incinerator, other troopers in the game with puadrons are more like sandtroopers
rip from psp version

ive been thinking of this for a few years, but its kinda silly... i would like to scratchbuild a full scale Millenium Falcon that doubles as a lake house/camp. it would have a jacuzzi, bar, and tons of high tech gadgets, video games, awesome guitars... basically a man cave to end all man caves
ive been planning this in my head for years but alas it will most likely never happen <_<

i use a mix of vinegar and 20 Mule Team Borax or (sodium borate) for all mildew problems. it also prevents it from coming back i had a bunch of my artists canvases mildew in my cellar, so i know it works well on canvas without changing the color like bleach
also just plain vinegar works ok, but the sodium borate prevents the mold from returning
here is the recipe i use

great job on the pauldron !
the only problem you may have is the glue will not bond to the painted surfaces unless you remove all paint and primer from the areas you are gluing, if i were you i would trim all the parts then remove "ALL" of the paint from the seams/joints and re sand the areas before gluing. and paint all parts after it is fully assembled
trust me.. if you dont your armor will fall apart as soon as you try to wear it the glue will bond to the paint not the plastic
neat ebay armor
