  1. I have one for my first build as well. Although I didn't buy off ebay, I went to www.triktoys.com and ordered directly from the website. But I think it works out pretty good. I haven't upgraded like most on this thread, but I have had some experience with it and I find it comfortable and a decent neck seal. My only upgrade would be if I could get a zipper one. Ryan
  2. I was on the forums earlier this month, and was asking about thigh pieces. I seem to have lost that thread, dissapointing becuase it had a link to a great referance. But I have thicker thighs, much too thick for this armor, so I was looking for shim ideas, anyone have some good ideas? There was 1 trooper (the link I was looking at) where he had a triangle cut out and pasted over his armor to create more space for his thighs. Too bad I lost that, becuase that was an excellent referance. I even think the thread was in the EIB forum, but darned if I can find it. Anyway, if someone has some great ideas on how to do this, shoot them my way. Thank you.
  3. still working on my goal of 210, right now at 246. Down a little, but not much. Been just really really busy. Although portion size has been cut significantly. No longer a huge steak and a big pile of potatoes. Now, steamed veggies, smaller portion of meat and some other smaller changes to a life style. I am still healing from back injuries, so the gym seems to be my biggest up hill battle. Getting back there and thinking I will hurt myself again deters me. Something like "tomorrow I will start" and tomorrow never comes. But i'm down. So making progress.
  4. From the picture I saw of an origional ANH screen used helmet, it looks like they acutally used the green film from the lenses to put in the teeth holes. BUt that was just from 1 referance pic. http://www.starwarshelmets.com/original-ANH-Stunt-Stormtrooper-armor-helmets.htm 9th picture down of the front view TK helmet.
  5. Lots of pictures, great referance. And glad to know that my build is looking just as good. Thank you!
  6. Man, I ordered 2 pairs of boots from TK boots along time ago. I got 1 in the mail about 2 weeks after ordering, but the 2nd one never showed up. When asked about them, they said they made a mistake and they were sorry. I was happy with that, and they refunded me half the money as an apology. That was about 5 weeks ago. Now they tell me it will be another 4-6 weeks to get another set. Ugh, I am trying to make it to a troop in september, and nothing. Bummer on that front. BUt I still have faith that they will come through. If not, I guess I will post here a little dissapointment. Oh, 1 pair were for me, 1 pair were for a friend who is doing a TD. He already weathered his, so I am SOL and have to wait.
  7. Alright, big update. Now that I have plastic, trimmed and started assembly, here are some pics of how far along I got The frown on my bucket has been THE WORST to do. Still very much a work in progress. BUt tonight I started painting the ear pieces and the mic tips for the front. So I am getting there and I think it's going along great. Tomorrow I will put the finishing touches on the mic tips and the hears and probably friday (after all the paint dries) I will be doing the final assembly on the bucket so I can get back to the rest of the armor.
  8. OH I see what you did there. You got some extra plastic, made a v shape in the back and regular finishing strip in the front. Makes sense. Now to find someone that will have some extra plastic to do that with me. Time to go to my armor supplier. THANK YOU! That is seriously a great idea and gives me the space I need to make this portion of my quest happen.
  9. Here's a good question... My thighs are a bit thicker... and so I could use the normal 1/2 shim on the front, and in the back, can I use a bit bigger shim? LIke a 4 or 5 inch shim to give me the space available?
  10. Good luck Garbz! I'm pullin for ya!
  11. Sounds like your well on your way Jason! Keep it up. I am fighting the bulge too, and my situation isn't helped any. But I hardly ever drink soda, my vice is beer and it's hard to quite that. I can do portion control, calorie counting, and all else, but beer is what kills me. Any way, good luck on your goal. I know we can do this. We just need a strong support group and I am here if you need support.
  12. Well, the blaster build is taking longer than expected. My friend wanted it so that he can work electronics into it for my b-day present. So I had to stop working on it so he can get some electronics in it. So I started working on my back up blaster and got that sanded down for the most part. Guess I will have to order another doopys kit for this since my primary blaster is going to be out of commission for a while.
  13. Alright, have my TK armor, it's trimmed, and assembly and glueing has started. I also started assembly on the helmet and painting. So far alot of fun! I plan to be done by Halloween. Let's see, got the form fitting shirt from target, neck seal, balaclava, gloves... I have a belt on order. I think I am almost ready. Need the pants and boots, finish strapping the armor, and ready to go! Side note, anyone know a good idea that's approved by the 501st to make the thigh armor wider? I can shim it, but are shims that are almost 5 inches wide acceptable? I'm no barbie legged guy here ha ha.
  14. been working at this, no seeable results on the scale. I don't feel much better, but I am trying. I drank nothing but water today and a small glass of milk. I seem to eat at work more than I do at home, so that is something I can focus on. All in all, I am doing all right at 246 as of now. I think I am going to try to get my wife to go to the pool and do lap swimming with me. See if I can get her motivated as well. But I have my armor now, I am trimming and shaping now. So getting there with the weight and with the armor. The hard part about the armor is figuring out the elastic strapping system and seeing if I can get it accurate the first time. Any way, different topic for a different thread. I just wanted to say hi and I am still here, working at this!
  15. I ended up just riping it apart with a 7 level screwdriver. The lead femtrooper ga e me a great tip and told me that an empty roll of scotch tape fits right over that end of the scope. Then I will just get some plastic disks from a flashlight to glue on it for the sticker application. It works great, but my blaster has taken a backburner now as I have my tk armor and am workiing on that. But i'll pick it back up soon.
  16. That helps me too. I asked this question in my build thread and got nothing. Turned out all I needed to do was go a few more threads doen for the answer. I must look up this vern now. Thanks again!
  17. That is a great looking DLT 19. I just wish I HAD a DLT 19. All in due time I guess
  18. Thanks, still have alot of work to do. For the people that drilled the holes in the right side, is there a template, or how did you find locations and measurements for placement of the holes?
  19. Good tip. My doopys kit came with 2 rails, so I was going to do both sides. Thanks for that! Good thing I have only done the left side right now!
  20. I know there are a lot of these posts here, but I am going to just throw this one up there as well. It shows my progress so far. and please comment on or criticise, I need all the help I can get. First Picture is the comparison. The bottom blaster is a bit older and was given to me by my nephew. And will be my spare blaster later on. I halved the blaster to be able to access the circuitry and other stuff. Hollowed out the sights because that screw really isn't needed any way, and this makes it look a bit better Hollowed out the back rail to make it look a bit more authentic Here you can see the sanded down letters and the removal of the bottom rail where the new holes will be drilled. The unfinished side where I still have to grind down the t-rack, smooth it and get it ready for drilling new holes. The doopys kit. As you can see, the front of the muzzle dosen't have the 2 screws that are seen on other props. I plan to rectify that after a bit of research as to the proper screws. I will trim them, glue the heads of the screw on the front before paint. That's what I got for now. Still a bit more work before attaching the doopys kit, but it will be worth it.
  21. I ordered 2 sets and only recieved 1. Called and they are getting another pair for me, but its going to take a while they said. Sad though, I was really excited to hear that they showed up, but then only 1 of the 2 pairs I ordered. Other than that, i am really happy with the 1 pair and the shipping was super fast.
  22. That gave me a good chuckle on a Monday Morning at work. Thanks! The shifting of the moon to create the waves, great idea!
  23. i have sad news, I had a bit of a set back. I know where it comes from, and it is sort of in excusable. Still, I want to share so I can move forward. I went home to Iowa last week and sort of pigged out on the road while driving too and from there. I gained almost 7 LBS in a week and a half. It didn't help that I was drinking beer just about every night. ugh. The sad thing is, I don't really recognize what I am eating until after I have eaten it, and then I feel guilty. REALLY guilty. So now I am at 248LBS and making this even harder on myself to complete. Looks like I need to buckle down even more to regain the start I had on this. Anyway, that's my progress. And a sad one it is.
  24. If all goes well, I'll be in Austria next year and bringing an empty suitcase... Sure wish I could make sure I could get this. It's a great kit that doopys.
