  2. Our grandson gets to ring the bell Tuesday and break out from Cincinnati Children's Hospital. I would love for a storm trooper to come and celebrate this occasion

  4. Hello UKG. I and my daughter in London this week and while I didn't bring armor, I did bring my FISD shirt and the FISD flag and some swag. I realize it's a working week, however if anyone has an opening in their schedule it may be fun to meet up for a coffee or bite if the stars align. We are staying in Sydenham though are going into the city daily. Our tentative schedule looks something like (it's a little fluid) Sunday the 16th - Tourist day, see Trafalgar Square -> Piccadilly Circus and likely King's Cross for the obligatory Platform 9 3/4 photo op Monday the 17th - Canary Wharf tube stop (501st obligatory photo) - Tower of London tour - St. Mary Aldermary visit - St. Paul’s Cathedral visit Tuesday the 18th - British Museum - Masonic Grand Lodge (photo op, maybe tour if possible) - Maybe some shopping at Tottenham Court Road & Oxford Street Wednesday the 19th - Fan Wars / Star Wars Exhibition (11:30am ticket time) - Kew Gardens in the afternoon Thursday the 20th - See Hamilton Musical (2pm show time), free after Friday the 21st - Open day My email is [email protected]

  5. Trimmed and then added snaps to the cod armor. Made nylon straps to fit it to the abdomen. Started trimming and fitting the thigh armor. Plan to get the cod and posterior armor on the abdomen before finalizing the thighs. Working on the posterior armor next.

  6. I came to this site because our grandson loves star wars and the storm troopers. I don't have a uniform yet, but I am looking to get one so that I can visit him and others at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

  8. Definite clear depression on the TFA inner thigh though. Different cut and type of overlap to TLJ as already pointed out. All outer thighs seem to have the clip present, unless they were knocked off during filming.

  11. That’s a great topic for manual snap work. I’ve got a couple sets of snap pliers I’ve been using from making other costumes. One I use on male snaps does essentially the same as the Phillips head screwdriver, the other for the female snaps is solid and super heavy duty. The only challenge I’ve had is some of the male snaps don’t have the split openings sitting flat, so the hex bolt is a good way to help with that. Otherwise what I did today with the using the mallet to tap things into connecting is also pushing that down too. But yeah thanks for sharing that too, I’ll use the hex nut strategy on future snaps to flatten things and make it easier to snap them later. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  12. I decided to take a break from working on the helmet for a while so that I can feel like I am making some actual progress... lol. The helmet has been taking ages, so I recently switched over to my armor for a while and started making some moves. I got my yoke and back piece glued together, created my first batch of ABS paste (I think it was too thick, but it didn't cost me anything but time). I applied the ABS paste to the crack then went through about 5 rounds of filling, sanding, priming, looking for imperfections and repeat. I think it turned out pretty solid! It might be a crazy Idea, but I haven't cut out the arm holes all the way yet. I wanted to see how everything lined up before finishing those off. I feel like the areas on the sides (under the arm pits) line up a bit odd when glued together (maybe because of how the plastic is formed), but I am thinking of ways to trim it all to fit nicely and look right when the chest plate is on. Once I finished filling in the cracks I decided to jump over to trim and sand the shoulder bells and inner lips. I'm sure I am doing all this in a weird order, but it makes sense to me haha. Trimmed and Sanded: After this I hopped over to the chest plate and took out the pill holes. Started by sanding from behind then finished off with some needle filing. I also used a belt sander to sand the mod piece from behind. Here it is before: I finished it up and it is looking pretty nice, but my phone reached max storage. Pics to come later when I clear up some space... My next step is to cut out the hole in the chest and get that piece fit in there!

  13. Last thing on my list to do is the elastic holding the shoulder bridges in place. Going to paint my storage rig. can't wait till it's done. Got my wife in the shot lol. Using this stencil should be cool. Full kit up pictures coming soon.
