  1. Hello fellow Troopers. The original post of How to use Magnets in your costume was affected by the recent stunt that Photobucket pulled and now the pictures and video are unavailable to use. TK4205 from Garrison Titan did a great job showing everyone how to get suited up with less hassle. It has helped me a great deal with my build and I figured that I would post another HOWTO with a video and pictures so that TK4205's method might help some one in the future as it did me. I used this method on the Abdomen and Posterior part of my armor but the concept can be applied to pretty much the whole suit if desired. Abdomen: Here is a video link to how the method works: [/url] I was able to get the Abdomen Section of my armor on in about 12 seconds without any help. My Plug and Sockets aren't as clean as TK4205's build, but if you are new to this hobby like me, hopefully you can get jest of how its done from the pictures below. Step 1: I ordered some Styrene Sheet from Amazon. In hindsight I wish I would have ordered Styrene that was a bit thicker but I used what I bought. Link below https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ICMZ7PQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Magnets: TK4205 suggested going Super Magnets at Home Depot so that is what I went with. If you don't have a Home Depot Neodymium Rare Earth Magnets should work as well. https://www.amazon.com/Super-Magnet-Neodymium-Permanent-Magnets/dp/B01LWPHF2E/ref=sr_1_1?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1500301280&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=neodymium+magnets&psc=1 I took one sheet of Styrene and cut some squares. I had to cut 4 squares and glued them together since my styrene sheet was so thin (hence the reason I wish I would have went with a thicker size). Then, I cut out a space the magnet to fit inside. After I knew the bottom magnet fit properly, I removed it in order to glue it to the armor. After that, I glued a magnet to the top side of the Styrene Sheet. Next, I marked the spots where I wanted to place the magnets on the back of the Abdomen. I put a dab of glue (E6000) on the Magnet and grabbed some tape I had laying around and tapped the magnet to the appropriate spot: I also used Magnets on the outside of the armor that I later removed to further secure the glue and magnets to the armor while the glue was curing. I let it cure for 24 hours: Step 2: Now that I had magnets attached to the armor, I place the styrene squares I had cut out on the back armor and traced where they would need to line up in order for the armor to close properly. Next I prepped the squares with tape, placed glue on the armor, placed squares on glue. I wanted to make sure the styrene sheets really got a good bond so I got some wood and weights to press it down further. Let cure for 24 hours: Done Put on armor and feel accomplished Attaching Posterior Get Webbing, Glue, Magnets. Glue the magnets to an 8" long piece of webbing. Let glue fully cure to webbing and magnet. Take the Posterior plate and measure the spots you want to place the magnets and mark them. Apply glue to magnets and posterior. Let Cure Attach webbing magnets to posterior magnets and lay on to the inside of your armor and tape the webbing down to the inside of your armor and test fit to make sure that the posterior hangs to just below the bottom of the back of the armor. Once you get it where you want it, trace around where the webbing needs to go and glue it down

  6. Alright Sarah welcome back. Thank you for your HWT Centurion application. CRL and Centurion Application Requirements: All required submission photos are present. It's great to see another HWT shooting for Centurion. Thank you for making the corrections I suggested during your EIB application. We are delighted to say your armor displays all the elements as set out in the Centurion CRL. That said we'd like to congratulate and welcome you to the Centurion rank. L3 HWT is a small group that is quickly gaining momentum. These are exciting times. Outstanding job on your build Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: During your EIB application I mentioned lowering your ab belt because it was covering the lower ab buttons. Unfortunately the opposite is now the problem meaning it's too low. As mentioned the belt should reside at or just below the lowest buttons, take a look at the reference photos we provided. When you get some time we're suggesting you move the belt back up to the correct location. This will enhance the accuracy of your armor, give the area a more uniformed and tidy look. Finally, keep an eye out for your left shoulder plate, in the photos above it's a bit out of place, possibly snagged on something. That's it. Beautiful work on your build Sarah. If you haven't done so already it's time to hit the trails and make the empire proud

  7. People do that for their helmets, like a plasti-dip, but I've never done it myself.

  8. I think you should get the full armor upper parts done with the chest/back and then see how it looks before making any adjustments myself.

  11. Well Hello There (said in my best Obi-Wan voice) It's been a while since I stopped in to update on my ever growing pile of lovely, lovely blaster parts. Got my Armour approved, took it to EIB then up to Centurion level. Then I had to get the electonics in my lid finished for my induction troop. All done now and I'm now a fully functioning TK. Got more bits to show so decided to post them all together. I have been watching Brian (Bulldog44) creating his amazing replica resin scopes and decided to treat myself when his latest run opened. I'm sorry to say that I was a little bit greedy and ordered two of his M38 scopes. I was on vacation when they were shipped to me so I had a longer wait than I wanted to get my hands on them. It was WELL worth the wait. I cannot compliment Brian highly enough on these or recommend them highly enough for anyone thinking about a blaster build. Amazing M38 scopes from Brian (Bulldog44) by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr I took one out of the (amazing) packaging that Brian has put together for them for a little look, but put it all back together again until build time. I'll probably go back to Brian in the future for one of his M19 scopes too, I just always preferred the look of the M38 but I suppose variety is the spice of life as they say. That's in the future as at the moment I have more scopes than blaster projects. Does that mean that I HAVE to build more? I have also been watching Chris (Fieldmarshall) do fantastic things with his attempt to completely recreate a blaster mostly out of aluminium. His attention to detail on this project is spectacular. I ordered a few things from him to boost my parts haul. Lovely new bits from Chris (Fieldmarshall) by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Scope and muzzle screws by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Spring set by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr A pair of powercells by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Shape B powercells by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr As with the parts from Brian I took these out, had a wee look and put them all away again, but I am so impressed with the quality of all the parts. I'm really not doing myself any favours by assembling such an array of top quality parts as I now have to put them all together in a way that does each and every one of them justice. Why did I do this to mysely? Really please someone tell me why? The list of parts I still need to order is shrinking, but my workload is ever increasing I don't know when my next update will be as I need to thoroughly sort out what I have as it is all spread around the house at the moment. Then I'll try and get the last (Hahaha) of my parts ordered. Then the hard work will begin. Once again, thanks for dropping by my friends Brian

  13. Hello Again Since my last post here I've finished my armour and passed basic clearance I AM NOW A STORMTROOPER TK18910 serving with Unquestioned Loyalty Back to the blaster prep in hand. Received another box of goodness in the post this week Sterling 1 by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Sterling 2 by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Sterling 3 by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Went and got myself a deactivated sterling to play with. This is going to get my vintage scope and hengstler fitted. Got a length of 20mm x 2mm mild steel flat bar to make the scope rail as the aluminium I have might not be strong enough. This means that I need to get more T-tracks ordered and get moving on power cells too. still can't make up my mind which ones to go for so any advice would be gladly received. Thats it for now but hopefully I will be able to focus on this project now that my armour is done (just got some photos to take to start the EIB and then Centurion clearance process) Thanks for looking in again See you on the Dark Side Brian

  14. Here are a couple of photos I took recently after receiving my new RS armour. Feel free to add them to the original post, if you think they're useful. Don't concentrate too much on any perceived colour difference. The TM is three years old, has seen a lot of dirt and direct sunlight in the Canaries. The RS is brand new (not even trimmed in the photo). My gut feeling says that TM's ABS has a very slightly more pronounced ivory tint. But, if, like me, you mix and match parts, it's hard to tell which is which from the colour. For the record, I own two sets of TM armour and two 3 TM helmets, one set of RS armour and 2 RS helmets. I did own a set of AP armour at one point. Briefly. In all photos: Left: RS / Right: TM And this is what an almost finished (*) set of RS armour looks like with a TM 1 mm painted ABS ESB helmet and TM acrylic capped ESB handguards. The plastic belt parts are also from the 2012 TM kit. (*belt needs to be changed for a proper "sandwich" construction, still need to adjust the shoulder straps and the chest-to-abdomen connection needs tightening)
