Splattum's AP TK

Recommended Posts

My camera issues are taken care of and I finally got some pics to prove that I'm not all talk. I've done a good chunk of the work on this, but for the more difficult parts, or parts I'm scared of I either have, or will have help from a friend. I assume / hope this is the right place to place a build thread on ANH Costumes. If not I trust a moderator can put it in the right place?

I'm still new at navigating these boards but here goes....

I tried to add more pics but I still haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Great job Adam :duim: AP lids are you of my favorite lids :smiley-sw013:

Here is a little help on how to post your pics of the FISD.

First use photobucket.com, it's free to upload your pics.

Once you have upload them you copy the "Direct Link" from the pics you have in photobucket.

Then paste that into a new post, reply or new topic by using the insert tab.

Preview you post before adding it to the forum.

Here is a pic of the Direct link that you copy for pasting on the FISD:

Here is a pic of the tab that you click on to post pics to the FISD :duim:

Have fun with your armor build!! Can't wait to see more.

Looking good Adam! I like the lighting in the pics. From what I'm gathering from the new AP builds (including my own) is that the suggested drill holes for AP buckets definitely make for a lower (or Hero) brow. Interesting.

That is interesting. I've heard 2 things about the drill holes for the ear caps.

1. That you shouldn't use them because they won't match.

2. They are an excellent tool because they'll match up great.

A friend of mine drilled the holes on the suggested marks before I'd heard #1 and it worked great, so either #1 is false, or I got lucky with my particular kit and there's a bad mold out there causing problems for others.

Also, I already have a photobucket account so I'll use that advice and put it to use on this thread.

Thanks for everybody's help so far.

The premarked holes on the AP helmet match perfectly, I use them all the time when building helmets.

I didn't mimic a particular helmet I just went with a good balance and clean overall look.

But if you want a really high brow and mimic a particual movie helmet then you need to reposition face plate, ears ect...

I really don't know who stated the holes don't match, everybody who built them found the premarked holes to work perfectly.

OK, I may have a bead on these boards, but we'll know soon enough. I'm gonna try to post pics. Technically I'm "finished" but I still want to tweak it a bit to make it a little more comfortable.

btw, I never had a problem with the pre-drilled holes. I don't even remember where I heard there was a problem, but my guess is that they were either on crack, or they got their kit from an imposter. I'm ecstatic with my kit Mark. Thanks.

Just to chime in on this...On my AP build I experienced senario #1. When I was putting it together, I came to the lower screw on one of my ears and it didn't line up. I had to drill another hole.

I drilled a slot to allow the faceplate to be shifted a bit. the upper hole when given a horizontal slot allows the faceplate

to rotate and gives a little difference in eye height.

the bottoms of the ear points needed a lot of torque to line up close.

it's a great kit!
