Also chopped up the scope ready to hollow out...just need to pick some spade bits up today so I can get that sorted this weekend hopefully. Managed to fit both front and rear lenses but my drill died before I could hollow out the main body...typical! . I wasn't quite brave enough to chop the ends off the scope at that stage of my build, think its definitely the best way to go to hollow it out, mines a bit sketchy. Just one thought though, if you've got some green stuff left you could fill in the gap around the 3 Alu cynlinders (where they slot through)... if that makes sense. A guy once fixed the upside-down-issue, but still had the image mirrored left to right. I also used the two prisms from the monocular but had no success. I noticed that you didn't remove it from it's housing, which could possibly be causing the image to flip. I think there are two small monocular lenses in there, I cut open the housing to get one of them and installed that into the scope.I've tried to find a couple of pics that might help show you what I mean. So the first is the small lens in the housing, and the second is only the small, single glass lens installed in the scopeBut like I said, not a problem I've come across before, even on other people's builds. Unfortunately the 2nd lens is to compensate pillow- / barrel-distortion. Here is that section, copied from my last build: Also thought about integrating the prism(s) but a convex lens turns the image upside down and left to right. Hoped that a 2nd lens (see arrangement in the monocular) would revert this effect. But these are used to compensate pillow- / barrel-distortion. Wasted several days researching and trying every possible combination with lens(es) and prism(s). No luck. As a last chance I grabbed some scopes plus monoculars and went to my eyewear optician. Result: with the given hardware, there is no way to get it working correctly and I was not willing to spend a little fortune to try and error. Got a bit too close to the bottom wall with the spade bit so will need to sort it with green stuff when it arrives. Also dig a hole out of the top to drop the cross hair lens in. T-Jay[TK] Posted February 18, 2018 Report Share Posted February 18, 2018 In a finished scope, the tiny engraving of the cross hair lens can only be seen clearly, when it has the correct distance to the big lens. Otherwise the magnification effect won't work and you will not be able to spot anything. A good distance can be derived from the assembled monocular. In other words, it's best to put your cross hair lens straight onto the small end of that conical cylinder, holding the big lens. I held the large lens fairly close to my eye then measured the distance between the end of the cone to where the crosshairs lens was focused. I suppose it means with mine u have to get right down on the scope to see it.
