Shim for PVC kits?

Recommended Posts

Is it an RS kit?  If so, you should contact them, give them the dimensions of the sizes you need and see if they can send you some.  http://www.rspropmasters.com/

I believe acetone doesn't work at meting PVC like it does for ABS so I am keen to learn how the experts on here do it. You are not allowed to have shims with visible joints so they must be blended in if you want to achieve certain levels. Looking forward to learning how to do this :)

Looks like TetraHydroFluran is the solvent for PVC. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetrahydrofuran

It seems to be available from specialist suppliers though I've no idea what else it's used for (i.e. will you be put on a watch list) or how safe this stuff is. Datasheet is here : http://www.chemicals.co.uk/uploads/documents/TETRAHYDROFURAN-LRG-MSDS.pdf

Well after some deep deep digging with google and this site I managed to run across this old post http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/27579-pvc-pasteis-it-possible/

Looks like I'll give this a try on some scrap and see how it looks. Only question I still have is, Do you think PVC will polish up the same as ABS with Novus? I'm doing research on this too, but no definitive answers just wondering what any RS PVC kit owners use.
