Some people stick with the canon star piece of foam, others choose ACH pads, and some use hard hat liners. I use a hard hat liner and it perfectly lines my eyes up with my bucket lines and leaves me plenty of room for my electronics.

I guess its personal preference really, try one way and if it doesn't work for you try a different way, whatever is most comfortable and works for you ! :duim:

I prefer foam, I have mine held in with Velcro and I can remove if it needs a wash

Never tried hard hat liner on a stormtrooper helmet, and will never do.

Go with foam.

Depends mostly on how the helmet fits size-wise with your head. I don't like just hard-hat liners, but they can be used in conjunction with a bit of foam where needed. ACH pads are great because you can add a few here and there. The star foam is great for accuracy, but not-so-much for trooping, unless it's used with the screen-accurate chin strap. Even then, it can feel wonky.
