And So It Begins... AP Armor Build

Recommended Posts

Today I took the leap... Deposit Sent to Authentic Props

I've been a Star Wars fan since I was a little kid, and I always have been rooting for the other darkside. When I first learned about the 501st it's been something of a dream to be part of it but that's what it remained until only a little while ago.

I've been frantically studying posts and forums for all the info I can find on the build process, accessories, approvals you name it and I figure if I pay the armour itself off gradually I will have more time to educate myself and collect the outstanding bits I do not own yet.

So far I have basically nothing... Just tools (I work for the family business which is a manufacturing company so most of the tools are easy to access...)

Here is my wish list for the next few months (shout out to Knockerbot For his awesome list, sorry for borrowing it...)

Pics will come when stuff comes in. Cheers!

Lol You seem to have almost all the things I'm missing. Those sew on snaps I got were based on the trooperbay videos but Mechapumpkin (I believe his name is) told me that on that strap we actually need to use a smaller snap.

I keep hearing guys saying the 2mm eventually cracked for them with the brackets. Yes you can do it the same as any but I guess the extra rigidity eventually can cause issues in the long run that I don't want to deal with.

AP can work with brackets?

But I have also read a thousand post by you in the past few weeks and you always know what you're talking about by the looks of it so I'd take you're advice over mine lol.

the assembly of brackets takes some special alignment issues.  length of elastics, placement and the way you act when you wear it.

these are all aspects of the original bracket system.

I personally don't like the placement on the chest, the positioning seems to keep people from twisting at the chest.

Yeah we had some technical issues at first I sent it to authentciprops@hotmail.com (note the ci instead of ic...) that was a mess then our banks messed it up but everything is fine now.

Newbie here from Cambridge Ontario, I also just made a deposit on a set of AP (Authentic Props) Armor and Helmet as well as Holster & Gloves. So excited to start my first build. Lots to learn along the way! I will be following your post :) Hope to see you in the 501st Canadian Garrison in the future ;)
