Anovos build

Recommended Posts

So I apologize for the long post up front, this is sort of me wanting to lay things out for myself plus any feedback for those more experienced then myself (read everyone :)).  Also I think this is the correct location to post this but if not feel free to move.

So I got in on the Anovos kit, and as far as I can tell it will be best suited to a Stunt build though I would love to do a hero if it is feasible.  Now obviously the kit is not here yet so the armor build details will have to wait till that ships.  In the meantime though I am trying to organize what I other items I am going to need/want to get so I can have as much ready as possible for when the armor arrives.  Organized in order of precedence:

Items for before the armor arrives:
1) Boots - Since this is the only thing needed to officially get approval I am prioritizing it first.  TK and IB seem to be the go to options.  Seems IB is more expensive but more available, TK cost a little less but may take a while to get shipped.  That about right sounding?
IB boots: $90 + $38 shipping = $128.
TK boots: $80 + $22.50 shipping = $102.5

2) E-11 Blaster - This is not required for 501st approval but lets get real, what good is stormtrooper armor without a blaster?  Many options for this with varying costs and time demands.  I've narrowed down my options based on a price range ($150 or less) and time constraints (work + family = limited build time right now).  Options I am looking at are below:
http://diamondstateprops.com/e-11-anh/ --> $125, finished but unsure of what the final product looks like

http://trooperbay.com/trooperbay-ee-leven-blaster-kit.html -->  $135, requires assembly and painting

HyperFirm Grade B  -->  ~$150?, Great quality and durability but cost more and have variable availability?

Would love to do a toy conversion for lights and sounds, and the price is right, but just can't justify the time it will take :(  Open to other options or ideas.

Would like sooner rather than later:

3) http://www.rspropmasters.com/product/accurate-assembly-bundle/ - ~$150 US + shipping--> Now I am not sure if the Anovos kit will need this so I am holding off on getting it until I know more, but it seems like something that would be good to have if for no other reason than extra parts for modding to get to both certification standards and possibly getting EIB or Centurion out of the gate.

4) DLT-19 - Not required but something I want to add to my kit.  Same limitations as listed for the E-11.  Options I have found:
http://diamondstateprops.com/dlt-19-rifle/ --> at $195 ($220 if I want to add the scope)  This seems like the best option for the cost.
Hyperfirm Grade B --> this is another great option but will come at a pretty penny

Things to get down the road:

5) Shoulder pauldron - This is for no other reason than because I want to :)  Maybe I'll build a HWT eventually, and I wouldn't use it for sanctioned events but I love the look so there.  Leaning towards white but still debating, classic orange looks pretty good to....  Options:
http://trooperbay.com/sandtrooper-shoulder-pauldron.html -->  $80, great quality
https://www.etsy.com/listing/150178963/star-wars-stormtrooper-shoulder-pauldron -->  $50, quality?

6) Helmet accessories - would love to deck my lid out with motor cycle lining, darken the interior, add fan and speaker input.  I include in this the electronics to go in my chest piece for vocals.  While this is something I am super excited about setting up the time and variable money costs will require more research and time that will be hard to budget.

Anything else I am forgetting?  As I am writing this I am thinking about storage and transport, I have closet space for now so this can get pushed back but I will probably get a hard case eventually for this.  A manikin to display on would be fun as well but again not a priority.

All in all I am guessing ~$300 worth in the immediate future followed by another $500-700.  Sound about right?

Thank you in advance for input!

No apologies necessary we're all here to help each other. The motto is "troopers helping troopers" so whatever we can do to help. So I'm much like you. I ordered Anovos too so as I wait I've been piecing together all the items I need to finish out my TK while I wait on my armor and bucket. I'll try to address what I can and let the more experienced troopers weigh in where needed.

1.) Boots - I went ahead and put my name on the waiting list for TK Boots. I'm not too concerned as I can go with IB if it comes to that. Looking through the forums both types seem to be rated well. The one thing I've learned is that you have to make sure that the top of the boot is high enough to go under you shin armor or problems may arise.

2.)E-11 - I went with a Hyperfirm for my weapon of choice. The reason I did this is that I want the kids to be able to handle the blaster if they want and not worry about it dropping or accidentally bonking someone with it (the bucket is notorious for not having the best field of view). You may want to also look at DoopyDoos as they are very popular. The is a great completion kit available from T-Jay that will make your resin blaster look awesome. You can find it on this thread: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/28444-fs-completion-sets-for-e-11-kits-like-doopydoo%E2%80%99s-full-resin-kit-incl-worldwide-shipping-and-paypal/

I'm not sure but you may be able to use this kit with the Trooperbay and DSP E-11 but I would ask another trooper to be sure

3.)I'm doing most of this on my own to learn more about building. Taking the time to research I've been able to read other troopers stories of what did (and didn't) work for them with their builds. The sales forums have items such as complete rivet kits to latex hand armor sets to neck seals. It's hard to gauge exactly what will be needed to finish out the Anovos set as the only ones released were the TFA TK sets to a few FISD members. Ukswrath has a great TFA Anovos build thread that you can find here: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/31877-ukswraths-tfa-build-thread-tk-10116/

I'm also found a great list put together by another trooper of all the items needed (recommended for the build) I can't remember the thread but I can send it to you if you want to PM me.

This thread is also another great place to start researching: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/6372-index-of-all-tutorials/

4.) DLT-19 - Yeah I want one of these too but the Hyperfirm is a little out of my price range at the moment. There are some great threads to build your own if you want to give it a try. I'll stick with my E11 for now.

5.) I'll have to pass on the pauldron as I'm doing a straight ANH Stunt or Hero. You can also look through the MEPD boards for the pauldron as that is part of their CRL if you can't find anything here.

6.) If there is one thing I've learned about the bucket is to make it as comfortable as possible. I'm looking at several helmet padding systems mostly used by the US Army to make my bucket as comfortable as possible. Again this is somewhat hard as we don't have the bucket to work with in regards to size and areas for modification. There are several fan and electronic choices out there uskwrath has a pretty popular system for voice/hearing and both evilboy and echo both have fan systems. You can check out their threads in the sales areas.

I hope this has been somewhat helpful. I'm still spending time just reading through build threads and pulling out all the nuggets and "following" those threads that are really beneficial. Just select "Follow this Topic" and it will be set aside for you.

Best of all is have fun! It looks like we'll be together on the build threads once the armor arrives which can't come soon enough for me. Best to you!

I just purchased my ANOVOS kit, and what i'm having trouble finding is boots, blaster, and dark/smoked lenses.

Something else people might want to work on getting is foam inserts for the helmet and armor parts, as well as a lot of velcro.

Can someone PM if they find/have a good source for lenses?

Just a quick note on the blaster from Diamond Props...  their's requires painting.  I've been in talks with them, and because their painter left and they have been so busy they send the products out primed and ready to be painted.
