Whats the thought on the shape of these guards? I've got loads of threads marked and some are curved, some are ----- and angular and some fantastic builds don't even have them!

 

I've got a couple of the DD's ones and am happy to whack them on, in all honesty, just wondered what you guys thought - I'm not going for 101% utterly accurate, more "that looks good and has no outstanding mistakes"

If they aren't on, they should be. They are curved on the Sterling L2A3 used in ANH/&ESB, and straight on the Canadian C-1 which the model company MCG made copies of, which were used in ROTJ.

 

In short, it depends on which movie version you make.

Doopy doos are fine, curved it normaly what they are, I have made some from aluminium and plastic. Just make sure you glue them on the right way lol

Making a ROTJ, which suggests straight then. Meh! I must admit, i find curved far more aesthetically pleasing (or as aesthetically pleased as you can be for 2 small bits of stuff).

They'd be easy enough to scratch make (can anyone grab some measurements so we can make a template for these? Vern??)

 

The curved are prettier, true

But it's a RotJ blaster

 

It's not even about super accuracy

It's that all the things which make it different make it special

I was just looking through my templates, they seem to be the only thing missing - such is life. Also need to get my hands on the right sights - I don't suppose anyone has any leads on sellers?
