Replacing Hero lenses with stunt

Well Ive decided Im tired of not being able to see clearly out of my hero lenses. But it seems whoever secured the lenses in my RotJ TE helm did a super job and they are not just going to pop off with a little bit of pressure.

 

Does anyone have any techniques for removing the glued lenses without damaging the helm?

Are they hot glued in, or glued in at all? I'd suggest heating it up with a hair dryer to soften it up, and then take a knife to it.

Hairdryer on the inside, damp flannel on the outside to make sure you don't warp your precious lid. Apply pressure to the lenses from the outside whilst holding the damp flannel up against them, if you know what I mean.

some careful cutting with a small sharp knife score from the outside

and score from the inside.

 

apply pressure.

 

score a little more.

 

if they used hot glue, then the flannel trick and hairdryer will work.

 

if they used e-6000 then you should just be able to pull them off

after some pressure has been applied.

 

I've actually torn apart e-6000 with my bare hands quite easy.

If u get em out without busting them that is! LOL!

 

Really depends on what they were glued in with.
