  1. Since no one else has said it... You are one of the few that is built PERFECTLY for accurate TK armor. A LOT of the ANH TK's were slender yet tall women. Because they couldn't get enough men that were tall enough, yet slender enough to fit in the suits. FX and AM were made because most men don't fit into TK armor. Why in the world you would even think of getting FX or AM is a bit odd.
  2. How are they (sharpness wise) in comparison? The ATA vs. the AP?
  3. ---- I KNOW I have seen grey plastic pipe this size. I'm not sure I need neon clear green... LOL.
  4. I assumed it was thin wall... I tried to fit the thick wall in the end cap and it wouldn't go. I must be the one who is missing something...
  5. Why? WHy can't you edit your title here? I posted this really quick and thought... that is NOT how you spell detonator! LOL! Anyway... I have been to 4-5 stores looking for the correct sized thin wall pipe... I have searched this forum. (people always ask, but try searching here... you pull up 30 threads that are all about the TD EXCEPT where to get the pipe and WHAT it is intended to be sold as!) Where do you get the right sized pipe for an ATA/TE/AP sized suit? What section is it in? I looked in home improvement and at industrial plastic pipes. I even looked through electrical in 4-5 stores. Thanks guys. Almost there!
  6. Have any of you ever imagined falling down stairs in armor? I would rather be in soft breakable HIPS than thick and hard ABS! OUCH! HIPS can be repaired easily! And can be reinforced with cloth+E6000 on the inside so it still flexes but won't crack. After playing with my ATA kit a while I really think it's the way to go! If you coated the entire inside of the suit I would say it would be almost impossible to tear. (but you would have to buy a LOT of glue! LOL!
  7. HOLY CRAP! A STRAIGHT ANSWER!! LOL!!! Thanks Paul!
  8. Any particular size? Any advice for attaching them to the plastic strips as seen on the screen used suits? Haven't you built a suit or 2 using these FBJ? I thought I saw one for sale by you somewhere? Any further help would be greatly appreciated! Probably should update the accuracy thread here as well. People say there are no closure systems on ANH suits... we now know there WERE.
  9. My question is WHAT KIND of hooks are used on the shins...
  10. This is screen used. Hope its ok to post here. Looks like a picture frame hanger maybe? Anyone??? Beuller?
  11. And I am talking about how they were on screen. Like the leaked LFL archive pics. What was used to close the rear gaps and where can they be purchased?
  12. What are people using for accurate shin closure? They look like old bra fasteners kinda? But bigger. And where can they be purchased? Also has anyone tried using this technique for their forearm closure? I am wanting to get mine a bit tighter. But my hand won't go through! I have HUGE hands and small forearms... I know it wont be accurate but I can always take em off and glue em later!
  13. That word wouldn't have even popped into my head! Thanks panda. I will check it out when I get back from dinner. Any advise or tips are still welcome! Thank you all again. Especially fireblade and panda. You guys have answered a lot for me.
  14. I work a little every few weeks to months as I have just not had time. Now that halloween is fastly approaching, I realise I need to just slap this the rest of the way together and get it painted with time for the paint to fully cure! OK, attatching the thighs. What is more common and what material is used to attatch to your underbelt/harness/suspenders? Is it stretchy elastic? Or would something that doesnt move be better? And what is prefered? the attatch snaps to plastic and then glue method? Or the way the originals were done, Just glued to the middle of the thigh? And then how attatch to your inner strap system? And how tight should/can they be on your thigh? I read a guy say 3 fingers does that mean 3 fingers deep? That seems like TOO MUCH room inside! Also does the elastic from the thigh go straight up to the belt? Or would it angle inward a bit from the thigh to the belt? Next the sniper plate... how thick should the top trapezoid part be? and how thin should the side walls be to connect to the leg? Thanks again for all the help you have all been!
  15. If you wanna get rid of those bubble lenses please let me know! If u get em out without busting them that is! LOL! Really depends on what they were glued in with.
  16. OK. So first of all with 15mm of coverstrip on the forearms I have plenty of room for my arm... BUT I have large hands! I have cut off almost all of the return edge to where its almost non existent. How the hell did they get gloves on? esp since they had the thick rubber handplates. Did they just cram them down in the armor after it was on? I'm thinking of doing just overlapping velcro for everything but the biceps and maybe thighs... But wish I could get the forearms a bit tighter (still leaving wiggle room) on my arm yet still get my hand through! Ideas? And the lower legs... how the hell did they get these off and on without breaking the plastic? I have the coverstrip on the front of one and it's STILL hard to get my foot through without bending the back open. I wear size 10-1/2 to 11 shoes. (I know there was only a front cover strip) Thinking of doing velcro overlap for all the backs but wondered how bad it would look if I later added strips and repainted the backs? Maybe could just sand the cover area and paint the strip ahead of time? Getting close! THANKS to all who have helped! I love this place! PS while I know the originals were sloppy as hell... anyone know of a way other than razor or fingernail to get the excess e6000 off of the coverstrips? A bit squeezed out here and there.
  17. HA! It was only 30 minutes! I'd say a very fast respond! So I failed to mention that the pieces with tears in them are NOT painted yet... thus my wondering what could go on the OUTside of the crack. I figured that CA glue then lightly sanded on the outside would be a possible good coverup. No? Just the inside still?
  18. So if I try the E6000 on the inside, theres nothing on the outside?
  19. That is simply beautiful darktrooper! How many coats of paint did you put on prior to all that finishing work?
  20. I'm sure this has been covered ad-nauseum here but... what is the suggested repair method for crack repair in armor made of styrene? E6000 on the inside with some scrap plastic reincforcement, then plastic weld/superglue on the outside sanded down? If you could point me to an old thread the mods are more than welcome to delete this thread. I'm sure there are 20 of them. I just couldn't find em!
  21. Yep. Tennessee. Hot and humid as hell. But the last few evenings have been very mild and the barometer said the humidity was low when I painted a couple parts yesterday. What do you polish the paint with? Novus?
  22. Thanks for the replies! Some of the links are down though... didn't see any leg pics? It is supposed to be a styrene TE kit panda. I found it on ebay a few years ago. It has a few cracks in it here and there from where the guy started trimming it and messed it up so I got it pretty cheap. I figure I can use it as a test run and if I screw it up at least I didnt break the bank! I've had a GF helmet for years that I'm gonna use with it.
