overlap/underlap

I've seen a lot of posts about shims needed for connecting the front and back of the abdomen clamshell, but I have the opposite problem, and I'd appreciate some opinions.

I have an SDS suit (which is great in every way), but not only do the front and back pieces of the clamshell touch, but they could stand to overlap about a half inch on either side. As I snug in the velcro straps, should the back flange overlap, or should it all tuck behind the front piece?

They touch!!? Are you friggin kidding me? I hate you now go away! :P

Just take a look at some screen caps. Some that I have seen seem to go under the front armor and attach with rivits. But this is a spacer of some sort and I can only guess that it is attached to a stretch fabric with the rivits.

Sorry I haven't been much help, am still trying to get over that they touch

Wow, what a great problem to have. So you have a bunch of choices with respect to the sides.

1. Leave them as is (least favored for movie accuracy, see pics: whitearmor.net/requirements

2. rivet /snaps the front and back together so you have pants

3. velcro the sides together so they hold together and allow a quick exit.

A bounce of the velcro you won't see a rivet or snap back sticking out. Think about it and check out the screen caps as Kent suggested.

Very cool for you man. Definitely take the time to check out the requirements section (which has some pictures and great explainations), some screen shots and do it up sweet. That's a heck of a good problem you have there. Please get us some pictures.

Hey TK. Not to get off topic but can you post some pics of the inside of your SDS armor (ab, chest kidney and back-plates) ? I would like to see the system they came up with for wearing it whether it's snaps, suspenders, velcro, etc. Also, I am curious what you think of it. Those are beautiful and it sounds like you have the build to wear it well!
