  1. Hi everyone, Some of you may have been following my snowtrooper project on other forums where I have sculpted a complete set of moulds and finally have got them to the stage where I can form my own suit. I will be using this thread to show off the forms and also build up my own costume. Here is a photo of the full kit- More photos to follow. Stay tuned! -Paul.
  2. Snowtrooper kits available now!

  3. That looks awesome! I really like the look of it. Top job I am building a Han hero myself that I will show soon
  4. I use #8's with my suits. They are very close to my Stuart boots.
  5. How much did the boot sell for? I have three pairs I could auction off
  6. You should use the white elastic bands to keep the shoulder straps in place and you should also have the black elastic straps at the bottom edge of your shoulder bells.
  7. The drop box elastics on the original belts are glued. What you do with your armour is your choice
  8. How do you think the drop boxes stay in place? If the elastic loops were not glued they would slide across the belt. Check out the RS references on here. You can clearly see the glue and on other original belts too.
  9. Looking good so far Take your time with the tube stripes. If you mess one up, don't panic and try to correct it straight away. Carry on painting the rest and leave the paint to dry or you risk ruining the other stripes. A Q-tip with white spirit will take care of any mistakes.
  10. You must have the wrong kind of hose. I have some that is flat. It's not actually fire hose as that is red. It's high pressure PVC hose with a nylon coating. The armour in the photos you posted in not movie armour so they may used something else for the belts. Hard to say, really. Does your webbing hold itself up like in the photo I posted?
  11. I don't think the belts were made from tubular webbing. The real belts were very thick. Not sure if you have seen this photo but look how rigid the belt is on the armour on top of the box. Looks like fire hose to me.
  12. I'm waiting to see the final version before I attempt to make them. If I like them, I will make them
  13. The drop box on this particular trooper has more likely come off and been reattached on the wrong side. The elastic loop holding the drop boxes are glued to the belt to stop them moving, so I doubt it slid accidently. If it did, though, the centre rivet holding the ammo belt to the canvas would have popped in order for the box to slide. Here is the full photo:
  14. Your obsession with having everything the same white is odd. Plastic, leather and canvas materials will never match perfectly in colour. Having different shades of white makes for a more believable costume in my opinion and is strived for in the Biker Scout and Snowtrooper community. It's odd the same cannot be said for Stormtroopers
  15. Congratulations Welcome to the club
  16. The original prop gloves had the fingerprints. Some people use NBC/chemical gloves which are smooth but not accurate.
  17. I say go for prop forgery regardless. You can't get more screen accurate than that!
  18. I don't know what gauge they are using, but I handled an RS PVC suit last year and it felt like my 2mm acrylic capped ABS which is far too rigid to use he original strapping system on. I own a 1mm PVC suit that I made about 5 years ago and it is more rigid than my current 1.5mm ABS suit. While the PVC will flex to the extremes, it takes much more pressure to flex it compared to ABS.
  19. PVC is actually more rigid than ABS. I have formed both and using the same grade and gauges as RS can tell you ABS is a lot more flexible and forgiving compared to PVC. The colour difference is not night and day notable. If you want to use the original strapping, go for ABS. If you want a basic strapping, go for PVC. The original strapping will pop out of your PVC armour very quickly because it is very rigid, but not brittle.
  20. I think it's the same helmet. Good eye, David The RS suit will never be identified on screen, only parts of it will. It's a mix and match of parts so it would be virtually impossible to identify it. I would imagine that the trooper armour got juggled around between takes and even more so after filming, so I wouldn't expect any possible found suits in the future will match any on screen. I am sure as time goes by that more and more photos will emerge from behind the scenes, we may possibly identify certain parts, but matching them on screen will be tough.
  21. I know where you can buy one-piece unitards for kids but they are in the UK.
