Don't forget about Brian Muir, sculpted the armor molds as well as Vader parts.
I will ask Brian about this when I meet him next week
-
I like how you used the detail of the natural leather showing
Me too looks great! I recently bought some black leather for my holster but all I could find was black both sides. It still looks good but the natural tan looks more authentic IMO.

As I understand it, Liz Moore sculpt the armour and helmet and Andrew made the moulds, vacced them and helped with assembly. Now wether that makes them his or not I don't know but what I do know is that he is definately NOT using the original 1976 moulds for his suits or helmets.
I met Andrew in 2005 and he is a very nice bloke. I quizzed him about his armour and he had all the right answers, but unfortunately were all lies. I can see how many people who meet him would believe everything he says and those less knowledgable about the details of ANH armour could be duped. He even told me that he had to get the grey pipe imported from the states for the thermal detonator when they were originally made in the UK so why the US pipe? I'll tell you, he is copying what TE uses.
I am not anti AA in the slightest and not really bothered who sculpt or formed these suits originally. I am just saying it how I see it.

Tony,
I think this particular helmet has it's face mask sat high up into the dome making it look slightly smaller. We know all the helmets were built up differently giving each one a unique look and these ESB helmets are refurbished ANH's.
Apart from the helmet with new decals and black mouth, the only other differences I can tell are the hand plates and the holster being worn on the right hip. A new blaster was also issued too. You could go for the upside down ab plate box that has been spotted in ESB to be a little different

I just realised that I had them in my email account so here they are

Hi Tony
This is the only one I have uploaded to my PB account though I do have more big ones that I was sent from Christies but they are on my old computer. I will post them as soon as I transfer them over

Ah, "Paul" <Lights goes on> Hello sir!
Ayup John
You know what, I thought the bottom part of the pack looked like a toilet cistern. I'll have to look around B&Q next time I'm in.
-
Thanks for sharing that John...nice one
The CAMPING GAZ canister's are easily found in DIY and outdoor stores and there are a few different sizes to choose from. Now to find the other bits

Are you 100% that's an ANH lid dude?
Looks too clinical and symmetrical to me....

It's a new sculpt John and not cast from an original assymetric helmet

From what I can gather they are sewn on in five spots, each spot has two stitches like below...

HDPE stormy is the main ESB guru He has spotted a few variations on the sewing patterns so maybe give him a shout for some ideas?

Well, the two humps could be tupperware jugs with the bowls on top and the bottom thing looks like it could be something from the packs. I am not up to par with sandtrooper packs but I know there is at least two variations so I think it's quite possible if you tried to juggle the parts around you could end up with a pretty close space pack. I know that some same parts were used on many different things in starwars it's highly likely the parts are already in use on other costumes or props.
-
Have you ever thought to disect a TD backpack to make this pack? I'm sure some of if not all the parts could be found on them. I see some parts which would do it from the TD pack
-
They both look good but I might try the second one, they ship internationally
-
I haven't used that type myself but it doesn't look bad. For the price it's worth getting some and trying it out. I would go for the thicker personally and then double it up and it should be fine
-
You can expect it to take at least a year to get it all done. It took me about two years before I had a plastic suit to wear but I lost interest in the project a few times and many months would go by without doing any sculpting. I left the helmet while last too. It isn't as hard as you think to get the basic shape but the fine tuning will take forever The helmets are such a weird shape and not symetrical at all. The armour is basically body shapes with a few bits and bobs added and once you get the first set of moulds made you can easily do the hard work of getting them movie accurate. It isn't hard but it is very time consuming if you are going for accuracy but I can say it is well worth the effort and a great hobby

They are put on using the full strip You can see the full strip of four buttons and the other big box with the buttons is all one piece.
-
You should have two panels with the buttons on unless you got TD kit?
-
10) 4 teeth holes on each side of smile
Most have 4 each side, but some have 5 and some 3. It's not just the hero helmets that have 3
-
I've got the Shire's Woodstock boots in the bottom link and they are very nice boots. They are not exactly the same as the originals but very close with two pull up straps on each boot rather than one. They are cheaper on ebay but not much. I think I paid ?19.99 plus shipping then maybe another ?10.00 on white leather shoe spray paint and white fabric dye for the elastic sides.
-
Looks awesome man!
You only need to wear the holster on the other side Chazz. The holster's are the same in both ANH and ESB just worn on the other hip. ESB hand guards are here waiting for you
-
Looks good but why have the rivets and no holster?
-
They are rivets
-
The straps look like natural leather rather than dyed and are riveted to the belt and holster.
-
I don't think any amount of trimming will allow you to put the helmet on straight down over your head. All movie helmets have to be put on sideways, even the hero's. It's just the way it is as the respirator part is supposed to tuck under your chin.
There is nothing wrong with foam for a liner. I use it along with an elastic chin strap the same as the originals. The ROTJ helmets had hard hat liners they can be fitted

Hi Bernard,
Rounding off the corners on your shoulder bells would help achieve the ROTJ look
