  1. Most hobby and train shops around here carry it.
  2. Wow! You were right! Does the government know about this stuff? No way this thing works this good without it being toxic!
  3. After several attempts at caulking, I'll be removing it (again) and using model putty to fill it.
  4. I'm out of town for the next week, so I'll start on the frown and crack when I get back. Hopefully I can order the stripes while I'm gone. I guess I'll have to use putty on the crack. That's several coats of caulk on there already. I'm still not happy with the appearance. I used testor's white to cover the sanding, but that frakking crack is horrible.
  5. Thanks for the pic. I was wondering how big the holes were supposed to be. That shouldn't be hard to do (now that I know what I'm looking at). Did you just re-round the sides of the existing teeth to make them smaller? As far as the stripes, I haven't done anything to them yet. They don't appear to be decals. Do they come off, or do they need to be painted over? I'm on the fence about the ears. I've read over the tutorials a few times on how to cut them, but I still don't know if you are just supposed to cut the round part, or the entire thing all the way down to the neck. I can't see much of a difference in the pics on the look, I think seeing one in person might help. A concern I have now is that with the coating I put on the inside, getting the screws out will be... difficult. They are now coated with superglue on the inside to stop them from twisting and the rubber paint. Also, I'm afraid if I try to get the round covers off I'll break them since I drilled through them already for the screws. An tips? Thanks again guys.
  6. I've been spending my time getting my ANH Stunt helmet ready prior to ordering my armor. I've filled the crack, sanded down the front seam and repainted, added and painted ear screws, drilled and filed the extra tooth, painted the inside with black rubberized paint, and added padding, frown mesh and dark green lenses. Audio and fans are next, but I might wait until after my approval to start fiddling with that. What do you think? -----------
  7. Very nice! The only thing that pops out to my untrained eye is that your boot tops aren't covered by the bottom of your shin armor. I don't know if that's important, but it was one thing I was told be looking for when buying boots.
  8. I was just able to take the master list on 501st.com and copy the whole thing into MS excel. It's still a huge list, but you can then "ctrl F" and search for any number there. Still working on sorting, which is a bit more difficult since the numbers aren't technically in numerical order. They all start with TK, TD, TX, etc. Sorting by this is going to list it alphabetically, not numerically (and I'm not going to go through 6000 lines individually removing the first 2 letters!).
  9. I think it would be very helpful if the navigation link at the top of each forum page appears at the bottom as well. I'm talking about the link line below the "Need Help? 501st Access? Etc block, that says (in this case) First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment >> Enlisted Barracks >> Tech Center. It would be very nice to not have to scroll all the way back up to the top to navigate once you've read to the bottom of a really long thread. I don't know if this is changeable, but I've seen it this way on other forums.
  10. I am, however, pleased with how the screws came out. The crack looks better now, but I'm still not happy. I may wind up puttying it tomorrow.
  11. Any tips for getting the glue out of the MRCE that they use for the cheap padding?
  12. I'm not at all happy with the silicon I used on mine. I've put several coats on already, and the only way to get it flush with the top is to have extra over the top. I can't get it to smooth out, and since it's rubbery it balls up and flakes off when I try to correct it. I think I'm going to strip it all out tonight and give it another go before using model gap filler.
  13. I did last night. Got a set of the thick greens of here and mounted them last night. HUGE difference!
  14. It's a plain black heavyweight t-shirt I picked up for $2.50 at a craft store. I measured my neck, added an inch in height (1/2 when folded) and 4 inches in length for velcro overlap. I sewed along one short end and the long end so I had what resembled a sock, then stuffed it with some sort of fluffy stuffing (I don't know what it's called, looked like the halloween spider webs you decorate with before it's pulled apart). I sewed the other short end closed, and then sewed the ribs. Getting the stuffing even and keeping the ribs equally spaced were the hardest parts, but if you go slow it comes out fine. I didn't put any sort of bib on it, since my shirt has a high neck.
  15. I think I exceeded my hourly upload capacity. They were working just a short time ago. Check back in about an hour.
  16. I'm really not at all happy with the caulk. I'm using silicon, which was recommended in several different places. It seems if I touch anywhere near the crack it gets all balled up and rubbery. As much as I don't want to repaint, I'm thinking I'm going to use some kind of filler instead. I've drilled the holes for the screws, but realized the screws I have are too short to reach all the way through. That will be remedied tomorrow with a trip to home depot. I haven't cut down the ears yet, that will probably be one of the last things I do. ---------
  17. It also says the earpieces "may" have screws. I thought they were mandatory.
  18. Nice. I have one question though. My MRCE Stunt helmet has 5 ridges on the ear pieces, not 4. Which is correct? The standards on here don't specify.
  19. It's visible in the first pic on the page.
  20. Well, after a couple sewing lessons from my wife I've turned out my first attept at a neckseal. What do you think? Will it pass muster? This is also the shirt I plan on using (assuming the decal isn't visible/comes off) ---------
  21. I'm in the process of fixing up my MRCE now. I already drilled and filed out the teeth, and now I'm caulking. I noticed with the stuff I'm using (white silicon stuff) that the crack is still visible. I'm probably wiping too much off, but I'm afraid that if I don't there will be too much left over. Any thoughts? New lenses are on the way, and I picked up the screws for the ears. Also, are slimming the ears necessary for elite status? I don't think I mind doing it, but was wondering if you're supposed to trim just the ear, or the whole piece that goes down to the neck.
  22. The problem is I haven't found anything suitable yet locally, and the online guys don't have anything close to my size in stock. I normally take about an 8.5.
  23. As much as it kills me looking for girls shoes, I found these at Wally World today. What do you think? There's a zipper on the inside of the boot that probably wouldn't show. I was wondering if the flap and strap over the elastic "U" could be cut to look ok, and then dyed. They were only $35. --------
