  1. have you guys heard about MLC FG TK helmets? Where do i get a picture of this? I have no idea what it looks like
  2. 4-40 flat head machine screws. i found them at Home Depot.
  3. wow amazing work bro! "I'm not worthy!!"
  4. a good match for the color of the MRce grey is tamiya enamel XF-66 light grey. spot on
  5. looks like you will have to get replacement ears bro. unless you want to to use a lot of putty and styrene to fix it. not to mention repaint the ears.
  6. it seems that your describing the right thing. that's three holes per ear.. would you have pics?
  7. Will do! I'll post pics again when i'm done. i'll just leave a shadow of a bump! thanks
  8. should i just keep adding black till i get the desired shade? enamels darken when they dry right?
  9. Thanks for the inputs!.. keep em coming!
  10. Hey guys here are better pics of my WIP AP, i've already applied the Dave M decals and i'm just missing the Humbrol paint to complete the details. Let me know what you guys think about the bump, if i should lessen it or leave it
  11. Thanks for the offers guys! i purchased one on ebay last night. cost me just $4.50 including s/h btw whats the ratio of black to the humbrol gery to get the right shade? 10 drops of grey to one drop of black? thanks again!
  12. thanks never thought of it! (bangs head!) saw one for just $5 including shipping. its from the UK though so i guess shipping might take a while .
  13. where is the cheapest website i can get the correct Humbrol AD Dark Grey #5? Shipping will have to be in the US. thanks for the tips! Luis
  14. Wow i'd have to say that's one sweet looking helmet! The bump is just like in the pictures of the AP.(if not exact!) I'll try and get a more subtle bump on my helm. i'll post pics asap. currently i think it's too big. Edit: this is a pic of my bucket. I'll try and get better forward facing pics tomorrow -------
  15. thanks for the pics mark! I'm just gonna leave a bit of a bump just like the screen used helmet. So i guess the bump was originally in the screen used helmets and it was just a matter of sanding it down for different helms used in the movie?
  16. Wow there are really a lot of fans for both the bump and w/o the bump! I might even start a poll here But you guys are right i guess i should just do what makes me happy.. Sooo.. i've decided to keep the bump BUT i'll still make it visible just a tad to give it some character.(and make me easier to spot on pictures, thanks graham )o I'll try and copy the SFS helm as much as possible. Thanks brothers! Luis
  17. Thanks Dargas! but here are a couple of more comparison pics showing the more prominent AP bump.. Tell me what you guys think.. Pics borrowed from Starwarshelmets ----------
  18. I have an AP bucket and i love it to death. I have also seen TE2's up close and TM and other great looking helmets thru the net. I used to LOVE the eye bump back when i still had my MR.(i still have it btw. i wanted to sell it but i had a strong urge to keep it since it was my first bucket ) Anyway i'm still in the process of building my new AP but i'm thinking about lessening the eye bump just like the "Set for Stun" trooper helmet.. Pictures taken from starwars helmets.com ---------- i guess the eye bump on the AP is just a tad to prominent? Should i keep mine the same or sand it more to look like the SFS helm? Thanks! Luis
  19. Ditto
  20. You forgot your the shoes! Good Luck with your build and pls post progress pics!
  21. I basically just followed this thread for the step by step procedure. http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?show...mp;hl=mrce+ears But if you have more detailed questions i'd be glad to help a fellow trooper out. i'll show you some pics of my MRCE to show the ear difference. i think i removed about 3-4mm on the front of the ears, but barely 2mm at the back part. The hard part will be the first step, drilling out the ear cap. you'd have to go really deep to remove the plastic that's holding the earcap from the main ear body. don't worry if the hole you drilled gets too big. mine is a size of a quarter Oh and you'll also need to buy some ear screws. the 4-40 flathead machine ones. so that you'll have a way to re-attach the earcaps. unless you want to just glue em' back on The most important step is to go slow.
  22. You must be spraying too far from the helmet. it seems the paint is drying before you hit the surface.(like you said) try bringing the can closer but spray left to right to avoid pooling. It looks great btw. the color is awesome Also, after you have painted it,since the color cannot get as glossy as you want it to be, i suggest painting it again a clear gloss coat after. then you'll get the shine that you're looking for.
  23. Just ask me for a step by step method anytime. Its still really easy, just make sure you have a dremel
  24. It's a great job so far Ryan. No one would really notice the scratch on top of the eyes anyway. I like what you did to the brow and frown. gives the helmet much more character! Have you thought of trimming down the ears? It helps loads for the overall look. At first i was content with mine..but as time went by and as i was looking at other helmets the ears on my MRCE looked more like Dumbo But that's just me.
