  1. Interesting. But why you dont just super glue?
  2. Thanks Paul! I know, my BF is making these for me, actually
  3. Thanks Terrell! Dan, I have no idea what that mean, lol!
  4. Thanks! this really helped a lot!
  5. I wanted t make myself some brackets, but I think I bought the wrong wire. I have 1mm copper wire, silver plated (It looks just sooo nice) But it seems rather soft. What wire shuold I use? I read "piano wire", but I don't have a clue where I shuold get "Klavierdraht!" Or is the copper wire still okay? Thanks, Karin
  6. Thanks everybody! Indeed "cooking up"! I do all my stuff in the kitchen!
  7. Thanks everybody! Please keep posting! I can't tell you how excited I am... You'll see a new generation of neck seals soon!
  8. I trying the get some dimensions for my neck seal project. In order the do so, I'd need as many neck sizes so I can determine the average neck size (with a real statistical analysis made by a friend). So, please post your neck size, even if you aren't interested in a latex neck seal. Thanks in advance, Karin
  9. Awesome, Juan! Thanks for the help! If you look at t his TD pic, they use the same neck seals, and it is really loose on the TD on the far left... And, judging form this ESB pic, they reused the ANH seals:
  10. Actually, after an intense recount, I see 10 ribs an the stunt and hero seal. Am I correct?
  11. Gracias, Juan. The more I think of it, I guess it IS some kind of latex seal, but not necessarily a neck seal. Maybe inspired by a neck seal. There isn't really a taper, and it is not tight enough.
  12. Well, I count 12 ribs. Also, the seem rather loose fitting. Any thoughts?
  13. I don't think you can use the si-man suits as a painting reference LOL .... or do you want black squares on yours too? LOL
  14. Okay, I did some research. Without investing in some expensive machinery, these can't be really made seamless. A smooth is possible, but not a ribbed one I'd have to make it flat, and then glue together. There is some special latex glue, which fuses the ends together. I hope this is acceptable. Now, I'd like to know the opinions from you, guys. -) What do you think about the shape? it it cylindrical, tapeered or hour glass shaped? I guess tapered, as Eric (Darth Aloha) says that you cut the ribs to fit your size. -) Who many ribs do you see? -) are the ribs round or half round? I think half round. What do you think the diameter is? Thanks!
  15. Yes, Vern, as Paul said, want to try a screen accurate seal. Eric, you seem to be a diving sports expert. I have some questions for you: -) What an average thickness of a latex neck seal -) Are they produced as a 1-piece (seamless)or is there a (glued) seam somewhere? Thanks!
  16. Due to the encouragement of some troopers (love you, guys!) I really start this new adventure But first, some research needs to be done. I only have 1 grainy b/w of two troopers during the tantative IV scene. But I do have lots of the hero one. Please share if you have more! A questions just popeed in my head: Did they use a a smooth seal and added the ribbing? Then it would be easy. Just get a seal from the 'bay which fits you and I provide the ribbing. But I'm afraid it won't be that easy and I know the bib needs the be modified, like shortened. TM said it also needs to be shredded. I think There needs to be a pie shaped part cut out left and right of the shoulders. Let us discuss and and discover the next unknown piece of armor history! I'm soexcited! Thanks, Karin
  17. You dont have to say it, Steve. :-)
  18. I found this one, with a hint of ribbing.
  19. AJ, we'll see. Let me finish a prototype first Jim, yes, it may be hot and sweaty, but accurate. Steve, darling, thanks for your kind words. Eric, you and AJ are the first ones on the list! Paul, thanks again for your input! What do you mean with "the bib should be shredded"? Like cuts in the side for better fitting? I'd better start a research/build thread! Thanks everybody!
  20. Wow, thanks Paul for the kind words! So, this idea wasn't that insane after all. Then I'd make the bib out out latex too. Glue in a zipper in the back and done. No sewing involved! Great! (because I can't even sew one stitch) Thank you, Paul, thank you!
  21. Oh, as I understand it, the current common practice is lycra with plastik tubing sewn in, ins't that sweaty too? I have not worn a neckseal so far. Maybe heavy trooping trooper can chime in?
  22. There would be black cotton on the inside for the bib.
  23. I just had this insane idea, making neckseal out of black latex. You know, black latex has this silky, glossy sheen (speacial underwear is made out if it, if you know what I mean). Or is it proven they were made out of fabric? What do you think? Should I look into this?
  24. The lfl archive pic. ChEck out cfo on facebook.w
