  1. Obviously the thighs needed touching up, based on how much putty I applied! I also wet sanded the ammo boxes to 220. They feel so delicate...I hope I don't crush them or bump into anything down the road! Once I get a 3D printer, I might look into printing these myself with a sturdy infill... On good painting news: my 1st pass on the forearms looks great!! Maybe leaving quite a bit of primer on there helped, maybe sanding with 220 did it, I don't know! I'll check them out tomorrow, but I don't think much will need touching up!
  2. A bit of E6000 and my trauma plate has snaps! Hopefully this stays attached well and doesn't interfere with donning and doffing my armor. 2nd attempt at gloss white on the greaves and they look amazing! Too bad they didn't turn out like this on the 1st try, but I'm happy with them now! I've adjusted my build schedule to plan for 2 coats of gloss with putty for the remaining pieces... And then putty on the ammo boxes! I didn't bother with the rear sides as they'll be riveted to the belt.
  3. I suspended the thigh armor using the Force (and fishing wire) to spray gloss white. They're going to need some touching up of imperfections, but I'm getting used to it. Remember when I thought I'd just putty, sand, spray white, and be done? Ah, to be young and naive again... In between coats I wet sanded the forearms and trauma plate to 220. They're each ready for gloss white in a few days. I'll E6000 snaps inside the trauma plate tomorrow.
  4. I'll guess I'll use my grandfathered status for that, but try to keep to the new CRL for everything else [emoji6]
  5. Sorry man, I don't have access yet. I couldn't see anything until you changed it.
  6. I sprayed some satin white inside the forearms. They should be the last pieces that need satin white inside! The ammo boxes, drop boxes, and TD will have gloss white inside. I also had a little time to start adding putty to the TD but I wasn't able to finish. Speaking of the drop boxes, I noticed the new R1TK CRL specified that the hanging strap is 1" wide, but I think they need to be 2". I commented on the CRL Update thread and would appreciate feedback or clarification. Thanks! https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/50062-rogue-one-tk-crl-update-2020/?do=findComment&comment=701801
  7. Post deleted and moved to CRL update thread.
  8. Thanks Tony! I'm looking forward to applying to the GGG in a few weeks!!
  9. I could always try heading out to a store, but I've been so good at almost never leaving my house since March lol. Oh yeah there's plenty more work! I still have the TD and ammo boxes that I haven't even started yet...
  10. Today was somewhat disappointing... I had hoped to spray gloss white on the thighs, but my last can felt lighter than I had remembered! I had already ordered more, but they aren't expected to arrive until Thursday I setup my hanging straps and sprayed the ammo belt, so I could still get something done. This delay may push back my completion a little... I added putty to the forearms, especially to the cover strips as they were full of holes that I had hoped wouldn't be noticeable. After some drying time, I filed out the cover strips so the putty was still malleable and didn't pop out of the holes like it might when it's completely cured. I also filled some pinholes on the trauma plate. Since I still had some time leftover from not spraying the thighs, I also sprayed satin white inside the trauma plate.
  11. Sanding isn't even the part that's bothering me right now. What I'd like to end is the redoing coats of gloss white!
  12. Today was ALL wet sanding to 220 I got the last of the putty of the greaves. They're ready for a final coat of gloss white. I also sanded the trauma plate and forearms. The plate is ready for satin white inside and I'll gloss white the forearms in a few days. I E6000'd snaps onto the thighs. I'll snap the long straps on, and hang the short strap on a string from the ceiling. Then I can swap the thighs in and out when painting gloss white without touching them! Hopefully the thigh snaps are in good spots for wearing...
  13. I'm glad you're back at it, but wish you didn't have so much trouble... Getting my helmet details crisp was a big pain too! I had some trouble getting the fine point paint marker into some of the crevices around the rear traps. I ended up taping a little on either side of the line just to keep the black paint in line. So far, I haven't really had issues getting my suit on/off, which parts are you referring to? I used velcro in a few spots to hold each belt half up and they seem to work fine. Now that you mention it, I think some shoulder bridges might be good to raise the bells a little. I might try some fiberglass scraps shaped like Paul's bracket. Glen (gmrhodes13) posted some pics on my thread that point out the straps holding up the thighs from Star Wars Celebration. It looks like one strap hangs straight down and another is angled more forward. I'm hoping that holds them somewhat steady. Can't wait for some pics!
  14. So I was thinking about how my gloss white coats have been full of pinholes and thought that maybe I've been sanding too finely. So I wet sanded putty from my shins with 220. I found a few more spots so I filled them too. On a positive note, it's WAY easier to sand putty with 220 I figured I'd quick spray some primer on the trauma plate too. And then wet sanded more putty with 220 from the thighs and ammo belt. I then prepped some double snaps on small webbing strips, so I can E6000 them to the thighs tomorrow for hanging while I paint.
  15. I took a look at my greaves today and they were UNACCEPTABLE! I had to spread some putty to fix them. And of course, sanding! Wet sanded the trauma plate to 220. Also sprayed some light gray primer on the forearms.
  16. The bell is hanging on by velcro, so I'll be sure to attach it closer next time. Thanks!
  17. I sprayed satin white inside the thighs. In a few days I can sand the putty, E6000 snaps on, and spray gloss white! I ordered some 1" buckles to use with my 1" webbing, since the new CRL specifies that a side release buckle is required for Level 3. I know I'm grandfathered in for basic approval, but am unsure if that extends to EI or Centurion and figured I'd just do as much as possible to be ready! Also wet sanded putty from the forearms with 220. They were SCRATCHED UP!! I mostly kept putty out of the coverstrips and rectangles, since it'd be too hard to sand/file in there and hopefully their imperfections won't be too noticeable. And then I covered the trauma plate in putty! It should be easy enough to sand and needs to look good since it's just flat.
  18. Keep in mind, the new CRL specifies that there are belt tabs...
  19. I spread putty on the forearms today. They had quite a few streaks, so I opted to cover them in putty. Sanding it off is Future Dan's problem I sprayed gloss white on the shins and sniper plate. At first, it was coming out horribly! So many spots where the paint just wasn't sticking, even though I had wiped them all down with a clean cloth. Subsequent coats seemed to stick better and cover those areas. They're pretty good now and might not need touching up... I also prepped the cod and butt for understrapping. I'm not sure how comfortable a 2"-wide elastic strap will be, so I might switch this out with 1" webbing, or need to cut my elastic in half to 1". I'll find out on my next test fitting!
  20. I hung the cod and butt on the straps and they're perfect! Just another excuse to put on my armor I also test fitted the armor to check my heightened biceps and my forearm length. I think they actually look good now!! With my elbow bent, it still seems a bit long to me, but relative to some screencaps it's reasonable! I think I'll sand out the inside of the wrist a little to loosen it up, since it's a bit snug with the sleeve and glove under there. I'm also thinking about adding elastic to my sleeves to loop around my thumb and hold them down; thoughts? And then...sanding! Wet sanded the putty off the shins with 800 to prep for gloss white tomorrow! And of course, some putty on the thighs... They're mostly ok, except where Jim fused together the separate sections.
  21. Maybe raising my biceps will help with the forearms...I won't trim anything until I try it all on again [emoji6]
  22. These forearms look a bit long too, but still a little shorter than how mine are fitting.
  23. At Glen's urging, I test fitted my armor I really think the forearms are too long. When my arms are straight, the elbow gap looks small, but not bad. When I bend my elbow, it pushes down on my wrist and also extends back a bit. I think I need to trim length off, and not just open the oval area, since it might bend better, but will still look really long. On a positive note: I LOVE putting on multiple pieces! While test fitting, I marked where I'd mount the cod and butt. I E6000'd the double snaps at the base. I also added higher snaps in the bells, to raise the biceps. I left the lower snaps so they're still an option, if this doesn't look right. And of course: wet sanding the primer off the thighs and ammo belt to 800.
