I see a lot of people going double snap for connections and some more going single... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

One question I do have for snaps... I bought 1” nylon. Should I have gotten 2” or will 1 work well enough when I glue them on? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Yup.. will do. Was thinking that. Snags and such... and I’m sure for L3 as well. Decided to be safe and give a little extra. The biceps are pretty much where they need to be. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Progress! Got home from Labor Day weekend and took the clamps off. Now on to the next project. Either abdomen and chest or thighs and shins. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Please let me know how the shin closures work out! I suffer from fat thighs and shins so this is the one area that concerns me... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

New TK Anovos Build - 1st time build
NoZoupForYou replied to shootstraight's topic in ANH Build Threads
I’ll be honest, I’ve done little sanding after my rough cuts and even after flying my forearms and biceps together as the cover strips do just that. Any rough edges, I’ll hit now that the flying on those is done. That’s just me though and I’m sure there are a million ways to do it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Thank you all... Great advice. I guess if I am Unsure I can lightly glue the buttons and knee plate on as those are all that would have to come off. I’m aware of the extra costs and the backpack. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I have a problem right now, and it is somewhat of a decision point for it.... To me, when I think of Stormtroopers I always think of Sandtroopers. That’s how I first remember them from a New Hope. Move along, and Look Sir, Droids just stands out. Part of me really wants to go that route, but I can’t decide. I know I’ll need to get the knee plate, I know to omit things like the chest plate buttons. It looks like on the helmet I just hand paint grey into the tears and trapezoids. I know I leave off the shoulder connectors and remove the mesh from the helmet frown. Conversion on an Anovos kit seems easy enough. The weathering looks easy as well. I just can’t decide if this is the route to go. I need an Obi Wan to provide me with some spiritual guidance. Are there any pros and cons? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Thanks! I plan on building to achieve basic, but am making sure to add the items necessary for higher levels. The plan is to get this thing done by Halloween for the neighborhood kids at a level that should gain basic. I understand there must be minimal to no gaps between the abdomen and kidney, so after basic, I’ll start adding shims and fine tuning things necessary for the higher levels. It looks like chest to abdomen might be ok with straight nylon. Abdomen to kidney will definitely be elastic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I’m starting to plan the front armor connections. For the kidney to abdomen, I know there will be a gap and I’ll need a little extra room. I’ve watched videos were people just use nylon. Should I use elastic to provide a little give? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I’ve been working in the garage with a medium respirator. Not risking it. I just bought some 1” nylon webbing to install Tandy line 24s on the armor. For the elastic should I ditch whatever anovos supplies and buy off amazon? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

One last connection to make. What’s the best method for getting E6000 off? One of the pieces has an abundance on one side after an error. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Well... more progress, though not how I had hoped. I got a little too brave and was going to glue both sides at once. Let’s just say after it dries I’ll have a nice cleanup to do on one of the forearms. Suffice it to say, the rest I did one side only. One of the biceps seems a little off on the bottom, but going to roll with it and see how it turns out. Boots come Monday so I can start working the shins. In Florida Fir the weekend and gone most of next. Work will be slow so I’ll have to make up for it when I get back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Can one side of the snaps be glued directly to the armor or should there be a buffer of nylon? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Suddenly I’m feeling better about this build now that I’ve watched how everything is held together and feel like I really might get it done before Halloween. It seems like the hardest or longest part of this whole build is waiting for glue to dry Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

For the poppers that aren’t actually drilled through the armor, I assume it’s a dab of E6000 on the back side of the nylon with the popper on the other side? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Any good guides out there on assembling the chest and front armor if you decide not to use the brackets in UKwraths guide? Rather go for something more simple. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Oh... I do have another question. As these pieces dry... what else should I be working on. I know Ukwraths guide is just that, and not chronological. What would you all recommend? The belt I ordered should come this week, so I guess I can start that. Should I start connecting the front body armor? That seems dependent of all the other pieces of armor.
