  1. Part 2! I was debating holding off on posting for another day, but I figured I had the time to post this tonight, so let's get into it! Modifying The Helmet Additional Items Needed: Spare sheet of either ABS or HIPS (.25-.5mm) Small File I decided to start with what I felt was the hardest part of this build, just to get it over with. This would be the grove that runs from the lower traps and goes around the helmet, parallel to the black strip. Start by measuring the distance from the bottom of the faceplate to the bottom of the small trap. T
  2. Started the HOWTO. Any further discussion related to modding this should be put there!
  3. Alright, so before I get started I am going to mention that this HOWTO is being done on the BS captain cardinal helmet. If you are reading this from the future and BS has a standard FO helmet on shelves, I would assume that this HOWTO would still apply, assuming it uses the same molds/form as the captain cardinal helmet. I initially started this thread when I first saw the helmets promotional material to discuss it's accuracy, but I will be summing it up here. While this helmet is extremely good out of the box, it has a few inaccuracies to be corrected for higher level approval (
  4. Alright, now that I have the helmet in my hands there's a few things to address: First up the good: Overall, the helmet still seems to be just as accurate as the product photos suggested, and I am very happy with its quality. Also, to my excitement, the lenses are indeed dark enough for approval! They are actually even darker than my lenses in my ROTJ TK. Although this photo doesn't show it the best, here are my helmets side by side to show the difference with the lenses: Approved ROTJ on the right, BS to the left. Clearly there is a distinct upgrade with t
  5. Helmet just arrived in the mail 5 minutes ago, I’ll post an update soon with plenty of photos
  6. Updated At the moment I am not sure. I don't plan on making FO armor anytime soon as I only just finished my ROTJ. That being said it is on my bucket list to do one day, and I may or may not use this helmet; but that decision is very far down the road for me. Depending upon how I feel about it in person, and how easy it comes apart, I think going through the process of painting it would be a fun small project to do for a week or two... I personally haven't seen the show (although I heard I should) so I don't really have an attachment to captain cardinal in particular
  7. This just popped up on my radar today, and it doesn’t seem like anyone has posted it here yet so... Link to helmet on Target (only site I can find pictures of it) Obviously black series has been seen in the legion and on this site before, but it has needed extensive modification. This would be the first Black series helmet for the FO troopers and maybe we’ll get a all white one down the line?? But regardless my first look at the helmet looks very promising, although I’m only familiar with OT armor so maybe one of you FO guys could give some more insight on its accuracy.
  8. I think I’ll start a new topic and post pics there, I could also post pics of the crack test I did before I sprayed the armor! However I am not at home for a while so it’ll have to wait a few days before I can show you!
  9. Oh it definitely gives the armor extra strength. Makes it 100% crack-proof! I can’t recommend people to spray the inside of their armor with it enough!!! Plus it looks really nice with the texture.
  10. I’m now officially approved: TK 64001 reporting for duty!!!Here’s some updated pics of my armor:
  11. TK 64001 Eric Simon Wisconsin Garrison https://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=32973 Thanks!
  12. Nooooooo!!!! It may seem weird but that’s one of my favorite vehicles.
  13. Not in one yet, this is my first set of armor! I’m not exactly sure what the groups are within Wisconsin Garrison yet.
  14. Thanks everyone! I’ll look into these before official approval!
  15. Hello everyone, I'm so excited to present to you my recently finished armor! My name is Eric Simon, and my Armor is an ROTJ (armor is slightly weathered for Endor look). My future garrison will be the Wisconsin Garrison. The helmet/armor/belt are all CFO. The neck-seal is from trooperbay, and the boots are from a company called GRB (found on amazon). The blaster is just a hasbro painted black for now. I am going for basic approval; I started my build before the CRL changes and used but-joint method which was allowed for higher levels at the time, but now is not, so going any highe
  16. Hey all, as the title says I just want to know what the measurements (width/height/depth/etc.) are of the white u trim/gasket that goes on the torso pieces so I can get the right stuff. Thanks!
  17. For those who know more about the officer uniforms, are the Disney ones up to 501st standards? Cause if they are something tells me we’re about to have a bunch of more members then.
  18. Ok, sorry for the radio silence in the last 24 hours, but here's where I am confused: Overlap construction is only allowable for kits that come with the cover strip molded in to the part. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable) must be constructed using the butt joint and cover strip method. Overlap construction is not allowed Before the CRL said the complete opposite as what's stated above if i remember correctly. Now this is the biggest
  19. I’ve been working on a rotj tk for the last year, or close to it, and am finally seeing the end. Now’s the time for me to focus on al the small details and imperfections on my build to get it as accurate as possible. But it seems the CRL has changed quite a bit since I last printed it out. Not to mention the announcements mention more CRL updates to come. I’m kinda lost now when it comes to this build, what’s actually the requirements? What’s still subject to change? It feels like I’m trying to hit a moving target with the aim of a tk.
  20. I saw this video online and at about 5:36 there's a mention about some of the 501st legion being in the film! Lucky you Honestly you guys should get props for not spoiling anything, since I didn't see anything on here about any of the 501st being in it. That must've been so awesome for the troopers involved! Great work!
