  1. Alright, but why two fingers? Isn't that a lot of free space?
  2. Thanks guys for the good advice! I also started to look at the thighs this weekend. First of all, my thigh pieces were not marked to indicate which ones were for the right thigh and which ones were for the left thigh. I tried to put the together and I guess it goes like this (is that correct?) : (The pieces on the right in the picture are for the right thigh, and the left ones are for the left thigh. Pieces that are in the middle are the inner thigh pieces, and the other are the outer pieces...) I think and feel like I might have to remove a lot from the back to get a really slim and adjusted fit. I feel like the more fit it is, the better it looks - is that how it should be? Here is an example of how an adjusted one looked when I tried it on (on my right leg here) : And here is how it looks without any adjustment - if I put it the size they are (on my left leg here) : So to get a more adjusted fit, here is what I'd need to remove, approximately (does that seem right?) :
  3. Quick question about the armor strapping (I'm slowly starting to look at strapping while I do other stuff) : I've seen some places where people put the nylon/elastic on some small pieces of ABS before they glue them to the inside of the armor (I'm talking about the nylon/elastic pieces that have snaps into them). Other people are glueing the nylon/elastic pieces directy to the ABS inside of the armor. What's the use of adding an additional piece of ABS in between and is it recommended or not recommended for any specific reason? What works best really? By the way, I plan on doing the "double snap" system. Thanks!
  4. I think I managed to make the ears sit better on the sides of the bucket. Mainly for the "upper" section of the ear, as I know the originals had some gaps in the "lower" sections of their ears and so I don't mind if mine have some too. Anyways, I think it's way better than this afternoon! Here are some comparison pictures : And here is a picture of the helmet from the front. I also put the brow and, to my surprise, I kind of like it when it's not too too high. Maybe I could leave it like this? Or just make it a bit higher? How would it fit for Centurion? And here are some pictures of the sides, just for if anyone has any more comments to give... So... any comments or suggestions? Thanks a lot! ^^
  5. While I'm working at making a few adjustments on the bucket, here are a few pictures of some stuff I did yesterday on my TD. I got an hacksaw to cut the tube to the good length, and it went pretty well : Then I sanded the ends of the tube and tried it with the caps. With the caps, I'm now at 7" 3/8, which is right in the required dimensions (between 7.25" and 7.5") ! After that, I marked the areas where the control plate and the clips would go to cover them with tape before I paint (following ukswrath's Anovos build thread). Tape on the central plate (centered right in the middle of the tube) and the end caps : I've done some paint tests on a piece of scrap before I actually do it on the tube for real. I put one coat of primer and one coat of paint and it looks pretty nice so far, so I'm probably gonna go and paint the tube soon!
  6. I had some spare time this afternoon so I assembled and disassembled the helmet many times. However, I'm sure there must be something I'm doing wrong, because I always end up with huge gaps (well, seems huge to me) around the ears. I tighten the bolts by hand and I try to no go too hard on it not to damage it... But would I need t tighten them a lot? I try to line up all the holes as good as I can and I always end up with something like that... I know some people sand them to remove the gaps as much as possible, but I feel that, on most pictures I've seen, even before sanding the ears, gaps were not that huge!? EDIT : Want me to tell you a secret? The helmet scares the hell out of me!!! 8-)
  7. I already corrected that and went buy the good paint - satin black.
  8. Okay, the black borders only but not the vertical black lines that go into the traps? Sent from my LG-M470 using Tapatalk
  9. Oh damn, I bought the gloss black because I initially read it there : https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?/topic/31404-Supply-list-for-your-TK-build.... Thanks for the brushes suggestions, I'll look into all of that! Sent from my LG-M470 using Tapatalk
  10. Another paint-related question : I've got these brand new brushes at home (didn't buy them specifically for that)... Is there a specific kind of brush I should be using to apply that kind of paint and all, or would these brushes do the job? Honestly, I know painting can is a pretty complex art and I've never really painted, so I have like zero knowledge in that. Anyone has any insight? 8-)
  11. Oh really? I put it together earlier and then disassembled it again because I felt it would be easier to paint the vocoder if the parts were not together (like a better access to the bottom part) !? Thanks, I'll put it back together and see how it feels! [emoji14] Sent from my LG-M470 using Tapatalk
  12. Oh really, so it looks like I could start painting some stuff already!? (Guess I should be starting with teeth and vocoder) ^^ Sent from my LG-M470 using Tapatalk
  13. Today, I had the chance to be able to work on my armor for a while, so I progressed in many things. I worked on my forearms (which are almost done), on my biceps and on my TD as well. I'll post many pictures of my progress in a little while. However, I've also started to look at the helmet, and I have some questions right now. First of all, I'd like to get some advice about what to trim from it, because I'm not quite sure where/what to trim exactly. So here are many pictures (I'm including more than less) of my helmet right out of the box. Tell me what you think, what should be trimmed and what I should work and aim for... Thanks a lot for your help! ^^
  14. Oh well, that closes the case then! As I'd like to get Centurion, I just wanted to make sure of what was the more screen accurate and accepted at higher levels... I'll be ordering the hand painted look templates then! [emoji3] Sent from my LG-M470 using Tapatalk
  15. Thanks guys, I'll go get some finer sand paper. And I'll surely tape the ends - I already planned to do so after trying to initially put and remove the caps. I've got another question for you out there, that time about the helmet. I think I'll try to paint my helmet myself, so I want to order some masking templates to help me get the job done right. I was thinking about buying these ones from TrooperBay : https://trooperbay.com/decals/prop-replica-decals/star-wars-props/troopers-tk/trooper-helmet-masking-templates . However, there is one thing I am not sure of : I don't know what to chose between "Hand Painted Look" and "Standard" for the templates' style. What does that mean exactly? What's the difference between both? And what's better / the best looking in your opinion? Personally, I initially felt like going with "Standard", but is that more screen accurate than the hand painted look or?
  16. Hi mate! Just found your thread - I'll be following your progress as I am building and AP armor at the moment too. Great work on the helmet, that's amazing! Always nice to see some nice work like this to be done!
  17. Someday I'll try to cut with my Dremel... someday!! I have to haha! But I'll go buy a hacksaw anyways, as it's not too expensive and can always be useful for some other stuff too. Yeah, that's a good trick! That's what I did for the TD caps and the edges of the TD central plate, to make them smoother and even, and it worked like a charm! I used some 180 and 220 grit up to now. But I have a question related to that : should I sand the TD tube before applying some primer and then the paint? Because I want to paint it with some spray paint. And if I should sand it, what grit should I use? Would 220 be okay, or should I go with something else? (I also have some 180 grit sponge-type blocks) Thanks!
  18. I've been pretty busy in the last few days, but I still managed to put a little bit of time on my armor yesterday. I progressed in the biceps and forearms : one forearm is all glued (still needs to be cleaned and sanded, but I'm waiting for the other one to be complete too so that I can make both at the same time) and the other one is almost finished drying and will be all glued after that. And for the biceps, I glued the second cover strip on the first halves; so next time, I'll be able to start putting and gluing both halves together. I prefer gluing one cover strip and one side at a time for now even if it's a bit long, just to make sure that everything is well done... I also cut some small strips (as you can see on the picture) to make the hooks for the biceps. I made them maybe a bit longer than needed just to make sure I'll have plenty to glue them properly (they are 15mm wide and 95mm long for now). Still need to bend them, but I'll wait for my biceps parts to be done drying before I measure and mark to do that. I also precisely marked my TD tube all around to make sure I'll cut it straight when I'll be doing it (no picture, sorry). I though about the Dremel and I think that I'll try using a hacksaw instead - I feel that it'll go better and that I'll have more control over it for that kind of job. The problem is that I don't ave a hacksaw at the moment, so I'm probably gonna go buy one this Friday or during the weekend!
  19. I do have a dremel, but I wasn't sure about using it to cut the tube, as I read somewhere that it wasn't working very well for that purpose... !?
  20. Welcome aboard and great to see another AP build thread! Seems like there is a lot of AP builds going on right now, that's great! Don't hesitate to ask questions if needed... Everything is so huge and overwhelming at the start, but you'll see, things will get less confused everyday! Good luck and, most important, have fun with your build! ^^
  21. So today I didn't have as much time to put on my armor as I would have loved to, but I still managed to make a little bit of progress. I took measurements and started trimming some parts of the TD so that it has some more scrren accurate dimensions. I had to remove a few mm from the caps to make them 20mm wide. I also had to remove around 10mm from the central plate to trim it down to 121mm wide, so I marked everything (sorry for the blurry pic) : So I cut and then sanded them to give them a better finish! I also took some measurements of the tube so that it can respect the size of 7.25" to 7.5" width : I have to remove about 23mm from the tube itself so that it fits in this range with the caps on... It is marked, so now I've just got to find a way to cut that thing properly... ...And I'll also have to find some tools to cut the metal clips, 'cause I don't think I have anything to do that at the moment, heh!
  22. I know what you mean... I still have some left for now, but I am waiting for 50 more magnets to be delivered soon - hopefully next week. And I was planning on going to buy some more clamps tomorrow. I have a lot of the smaller ones but I like the big ones too as they are a bit stronger and I feel like I might end up needing more as I progress and get more and more things drying at the same time !
