1. Well today has been a learning experience and I am a true believer that we do learn something new every day. Today I realised I went a bit mad with the rivet gun on putting my lid together, note to self don't do it next time [emoji3] Ok so today my glue arrived, but before I start I wanted to check if this looks ok The control panel is a tad wonky, is the small gap on the RHS near the aluminium bracket ok? I also started trimming the abdomen and kidney pieces, I have trimmed the return edge to 0.5", is that ok? What size should the return edges be on the arms, legs and around the side of the armour, around the neck etc [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
2. I did check on the UKG and was told it was ok ..... will put it down as a learning experience [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
3. It worked for me [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
4. Hi mate, hopefully these will be a bit better Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
5. I had the same problem Frank, I will post some better pics later but I ended up using more rivets , oh and had the same problem of them not attaching in some places so used washers like Cricket said .... I wasn't brave enough to use the heat gun lol Hope this helps Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
6. Looking fantastic, I too like the RS armour, I picked mine up last week, now all I have to do is trim it and put it together . Congratulations on getting an awsome suit
7. Hi Ben, I'm new to this myself and currently building an RS kit, I'm a similar height and weight. From what I understand from searches on here is that you do need to put the return edges back on, the only place I believe that you don't hav ereturn edges is the bottom of the greaves and the forearm section near the wrist. However there are far more knowledgeable people than me who are much better placed to answer your questions.

Pop over to the new members introductions section an drew say hello

Are you building a ANH, ESB or RTOJ costume, you would probably be better placed to ask your question in the relevant section. There are quite a few excellent threads detailing how to construct armour for us not so tall troopers, they are well worth a read. Also look at the centurion and EIB application threads, this gives you a first class idea of what can be achieved .

Good luck with your construction

Stephen
8. Been busy today, the magnets arrived so I covered them in micro fibre cloths, got the idea from Cricket [emoji3] Whilst I'm waiting for the glue to arrive I thought I would start the ammo belt Found this in crickets thread, it's really helpful Then started Marked out the lines, did a rough cut with the lexon scissors Clamped the piece down with Eric lamps and a long aluminium strip to act as a guide, did three scores with the x-acto knife and then split the cut Marked out the 45 degree ends and checked them against the belt Checked they were 45 degrees Then trimmed them with the scissors I messed up one of my runs with the blade, it went a bit wrong, as can be seen below with the faint line, don't know how I can get rid of it Finished job Really chuffed with today's work [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
9. Thanks mate [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
10. I trimmed mine a bit more then you, i used the dremel to get it how i wanted it to look, it maybe a tad too clean ... The armour is looking fantastic Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
11. Sanded the TD end caps today and git them to 20mm each Then I thought I would do the TD control panel I may have it the wrong way up? But when you look from the top it's not square, I thought I had best check before I trim any more? Also the joint will look like this... is that ok? Thanks [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
12. Thanks for the link to the reference pics Frank, wow they are really helpful
13. Congratulations Christine, you have inspired other vertically challenged troopers to have a go at building armour, thank you fir your detailed thread, you have given me the confidence to build my own armour, your centurion status is well deserved .... Oh and RS use you as an example of how armour can be made perfectly to fit the less tall troopers..... I am really pleased for you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
14. I marked 20mm like Clive on UKG said with my compass , the line can just about be seen Then trimmed it with the scissors , I didn't trim to the line, I will sand them down later Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
15. Given the lid a second coat today and it's looking good. T thought I would start with the thermal detonator . Cut the end caps out roughly, I guess they need sanding flat so there is no ridge ? Also are these the correct screws in the TD? Do I just need to paint them black ? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
16. Well today I've been sorting , or , trying to sort the arms and legs into left and right, I think I have it but will he k before I start trimming and putting the stuff together. I need to order some E6000 glue and some magnets.... what size magnets do I need? Anyway arms and legs now boxed up Put some duct tape inside the lid, around the frown mesh, and to cover the joints between the face and cap Painted the inside with chalk board paint .... it needs another coat And redid the hovi mic tips I used a AA battery to get the shape and it worked perfectly, the first attempt wasn't good enough but second and third goes have been placed into the mic tips [emoji3] Oh and the blaster is well.... fantastic , I'm really chuffed with it [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
17. Glad you liked the pics mate, I'm following and learning from your thread too [emoji3] It really was amazing to see what the guys at RS do, I should have taken more pics and asked more questions , but for once in my life I was dumb struck ...... sorry [emoji20] I'm now wondering where on earth do I start.....I don't think I will sleep much tonight ..... which means my wife will be in a bad mood tomorrow ...... or I will end up in the spare room lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
18. The bike is Vicky the R1, she is my pride and joy, or as my wife says , my mistress, I'm a bit of a petrol head trooper, I love my bike and car( a jaguar) but the stormtrooper.... well that's the best. Yes Christine, Rob had all your pictures, he told me to follow your example as this , pointing to the picture of you in front of your front door, is how the armour can be put together for people of my size, he was very very complementary of your build and the quality of your finished costume.... of mine is half as good as yours I will be well chuffed [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
19. Wow..... I popped over to RS today to pick up my armour, I met Rob and he gave me a guided tour , I met the guys who make and build the costumes for us, Rob showed me how they make the armour, it's really amazing, and it's a very professional set up. All my stuff was boxed up and ready for me, the care they take in packaging up your kit is second to none, the care and professionalism they take in making your kit is again second to none. They clearly put their customers first, I asked if I could buy some more mesh for the hovi mix, a couple of spare hovi mix and some extra bolts and abs, they supplied the additional items and would not take any money fir it, Rob said they like to support their customers and if you need advice or a few more bits it's not a problem. I took a few photos whilst I was there, but I guess I was a bit star struck. Rob clearly saw that I was, well am, a tad, vertically challenged, he said that I should look at Crickets build thread on FISD, as that is a perfect example of what can be done to their costumes fir us shorter troopers. Got home and her are a few pics of my kit, I have a lot of work to do, I told Rob I was worried if I could put it all together, he said the lid is harder to put together than the armour so given you have done the lid you should be ok. I'm like a kid at Christmas, I can't believe I now own a stormtrooper costume, it's amazing, really amazing , I am blown away with the quality, the boots fit perfectly, the blaster is amazing and the armour is awesome, I am a very lucky indeed..... Thank you to the guys gals at the UKG and FISD for giving me the opportunity to do this Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
20. Congratulations Christine, or should I say TK10401 , your buil dthreda is an inspiration to all us smaller troopers an dlooking at the finished results, well it's perfect, look s like you have just walked off the set

Awsome
21. Well I've had the email from RS and I go around to their studio on Friday to pick up my armour...... can't wait I'm like a big kid waiting for Christmas
22. Not done much, need to tidy up the inside of the wire mesh fir the frown. Today I very roughly fitted the s seal around the base if the helmet, I haven't cut it to size as yet until I know if it's looking ok All that's needed now are lenses which I'm getting of ninjabiscuit from the UKG and to paint the interior. I was thinking of doing the cheese cloth thing but now I'm having second thoughts [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
23. A bit more success today with the hovi mic ( is it mic or mix?) anyway I would give myself 6 out of 10 , with some more practice I will get it better I've finished the mesh behind the frown and I didn't even stick my fingers together today [emoji3], I'm actually quite pleased with this And a full view, all he needs is his eye lenses, two better mic tips and his rubber thing around the bottom, can't wait to start the armour [emoji3] I will get some more mesh from RS when I collect the armour Oh and I'm going to plasticoat the inside, I like the Matt black finish, oh then there are electronics..... I guess that's for another day.... don't run before you can walk Stephen Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
24. Thanks I appreciate your kind offer , I will try again, God loves a trier , though I'm not that confident , if it doesn't work I will pm you if that's ok . Thanks [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
