  1. First half of mimic armor came in today Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  2. I have MIMIC Armor on Order; at first his communication was not great and there were lots of missed target dates. Has fixed the problems by slowing down the orders taking in hiring help and taking sides jobs to help material investment. I haven't had a problem since with communication it was been night and day. I will have the first half of my armor in hand by the end of the week. Still lots of pieces yet to be received. Right now there is only one spot open and I think once MIMIC is done he will be done making armor. Which will be shame to see those molds go to waste. Doesn't seem like it has been profitable for MIMIC to take on this huge of a project. I also have KB First Order Tie Pilot Armor on hand if it's acceptable I can comment that the armor is easy to work with. It came for me in 3 weeks everything was there and accounted for. KB has been helpful throughout the process. Even if I had questions on our FB build group I got tips from his helper on working with the armor. I'm excited to see the improvements being made and appreciate the effort put towards gets the armor correct. 2 of our members are going to be building KB kits in near future so I'm sure I'll have my hands on his kit again in near future.
  3. Not really a run around I have a tracking number just hasn't sent it yet, annoying but has been in communication the whole way. Mimic took a side gig to work on some sets or something
  4. Ugh looks like after being boxed up and a tracking label printed, my box of armor has yet to leave MIMIC's shop yet. Got a message that he took some side work to help with material cost. Honestly a bit annoyed, I understand why he took the work this project has put him in the hole and he is committed to finishing the run which I respect but seriously cant take 30 mins or so to drop off one 10 pound box? Been watching the tracking number all week with no updates until I asked this morning Will be glad when everything is here and I don't have to deal with this guy anymore. Great product slow turnaround
  5. No need to be quick take your time, measure twice or in some cases three times before cutting. The trooperbay videos on the old TK on youtube are super helpful as well as the PandaProps youtube channel. The techniques of working with plastic certainly carry over as well as the materials and tools used.
  6. Mimic is finishing the first half and shipping today (whatever that means across the pond) I got my message while I was asleep. Still grinding away on my FO Pilot softgoods for that ship soon, just having some paint issues I think I'm gonna wait to paint till days that are 60 and above anytime I try to paint anywhere near 50 the paint makes a weird cracking thing
  7. For the shoulder bells I've attached a few pics, These have been floating around so not mine. There are two straps for the snap that go in slots opposite of the metal tab. The pics should be helpful. Spats I have seen Velcro for those, still debating how I'm doing mine Hope this helps, keep up the good work trooper!
  8. Starting to get happier results. After having a meltdown and panic attack my armor is on the way soon. Should be shipping in next 3-4 days I'd estimate. Lots of members are getting parts in and we are starting to see amazing results. I suppose it was worth the wait I knew it was gonna be awhile but I suppose I was more hopeful of timelines, seems like the yoke, back and ab parts have been a big challenge to lay. Hoping once these first halves (torso, chest, yoke, back, shoulders, butt, and cod) are shipped that rest should be smooth sailing. Still waiting on updates on the biceps, forearms, both legs all the way up (spats to the top) From what I have seen everything is beautiful, amazing and accurate. I'm looking forward to starting my rigging soon and posting in here more often. I'm also almost done with FO Tie Pilot so first order will be well represented from me.
  9. Most deff make a build post, some of the regs should be able to help you link on your original post to different sections. I still need to figure out how to use this 1995 tech a bit better. Have become to used to Facebook build groups
  10. Wookies aren't that bad if you do the work yourself, if you commission it your paying for all the time put into it. My friend in garrison's phasma was quite pricey. The chrome makes it pricey
  11. Jim doesn't do full commission doesn't have the time KB I don't think would have the time either they will finish the bucket for you The closest you'll find to close to finished is MIMIC and he is quite behind because when you over finishing to lots of people it adds a lot of time when your just one person and pulling everything. I don't think he's taking orders but he might. We had a bit of a mess with communication but I still think he's a good guy and very talented just need to understand it will take lots of time to get finished product. IMO you'd be better off finding a kit you like the best and finding someone in the community that has built this armor before and ask if they will do it for you. Or just get up the nerve and work on it yourself piece by piece. Honestly if you set your mind to it anything is possible.
  12. Back on the run props to Mimic for owning up to shortcomings. The wait is going to be longer, but hoping for more honesty and transparency as we move forward
  13. Exchange rates are fun, military folks will tell you all about hoping they the right time for checks overseas. Its still the same amount to him so I wouldn't worry about it, you gave him ex number of pounds at the time of transaction and he gave you ex number of pounds. Shouldn't be too much of a difference I don't think maybe a few bucks here or there
  14. No kb hit me up directly i have tie pilot and am in a few groups he is in Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  15. I hope I get my money back, past my dispute I sent a request in PayPal. Found it odd he was using Sara Watson can't even use his real name but sneaky is that? But yeah I'll probably go KB they are close by and KB went out of his way to PM him and promise to help me out when I get things sorted out. Good hearted dude for sure, if I had more time on Vegas trip in March I'd stop by and say hello.
  16. Kb props and Jim tripon are only other two I know of. I have kbs pilot and it's been fun to work on Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  17. Looks like the prop maker MIMIC is a lying a-hole. No armor, went to dispute my case on paypal and they closed it within a day. I doubt I'll get my money back and even worse I won't have armor. I guess I need to start selling pieces, was hoping at the bare min I could get my money back and buy another kit from a trusted maker like Jim Tripon or KB Props etc STAY AWAY FROM MIMIC He is a liar and thief!
  18. KB props will do finishing for you. But you get what you pay for, if your cheap and budget is tight you not going to have many options for finished If you can find an Anovos on ebay or a 3rd party seller that would be your best bet they usually go for around 200-225USD
  19. I'm willing to put a few patches on the line saying that Mimic beats Anovos shipment by a long shot. Feel everyone's pain though. Almost done with my First Order Tie while I've been waiting. But with all the prep and work I'm doing on just that it makes me thankful for a finished kit. That literally saves me a couple of months of work, at the pace I work at.
  20. I don't know of any smaller kits, I would warn that Anovos is still very much behind and they have yet to ship a single production model out to anyone outside of the 501st members that got Celebration kits back in 2015. I would deff stick to an ABS Plastic Kit such as KB Props with all the mods you will have to do for your height. The fiberglass can be modded but I suspect it would be a challenge and without the right equipment to protect yourself it could be dangerous if you don't know what your doing. I'm assuming you'll have to trim the leg and arm parts down quite a bit. I'm at 5'7" and I had to trim my leg pieces on the Original TK (nonapproved) (MonCal) by quite a bit. Good luck and hope your able to find what works best for your needs. Wish I knew exactly which build to point you to. Might help to use search bar at top right and type short trooper or something along those line and see what pops up.
  21. This is exciting to see, shared in my local garrison to push interest as well. The legion needs more FO Troopers, KB makes a fine product and with their new setup I'm sure they will be able to hook ya'll up well. Wouldn't be shocked if ya'll were done by end of year. Long live the supreme leader!
  22. Good luck hope ya'll ya'lls kits come in, but I can't help but think I'm still happy for moving to Mimic Little more time than I was hoping I'll admit and still didn't meet my personal goal but I think it will be worth it in the end
  23. I have a KB Tie Pilot it came in 4 weeks no issues. I also have a Mimic kit I've been waiting for 9 months on. KB recently moved shops and it was quite the process to get moved over. I'm sure they are still finishing orders but from my experience it was good. I wasn't expect a kit in a day and I used I had a black abs kit so that helped. They have had issues with white abs. You might be able to get a black kit and just paint it. You probably will anyway with the seam on the yoke and back connector. Look through the build posts on here. There is one that is pinned from Ruthar or something like that sorry if I'm buthering that it's early and I'm not fully awake. Best of luck, either of the two choices imo are better than Anovos I have no options for anything you want tomorrow, that's not how kits work unless you find someone giving up on a project or something comes up where they cant get started on something
  24. This link might be helpful, http://blog.pksafety.com/which-respirator-is-best-for-painting-and-boat-repair/ Based on a fiberglass boat but the concept is similar
  25. Awesome, this is the build I was looking for
