  1. Nevermind, I found it. You may want to update your link to this one http://www.ixradio.com/shop/throat-microphone-with-straight-3.5mm-connector-direct-mic-for-voice-amplifier-recorder.html They seem to have redone their website.
  2. Where did you get the throat mic? I ask, because the link at the beginning of your build doesn't seem to work any longer.
  3. It's a great set, if you plan on using the screen used strapping system. It is also available directly through the trooperbay website.
  4. You might also consider using some washers to reinforce the snap width wise.
  5. I wasn't trying to be impolite, merely commenting on the bizarre nature of the functions of Photobucket. Sent from my SM-T217T using Tapatalk
  6. Very strange, considering that my pictures are linked from Photobucket as well. Sent from my SM-T217T using Tapatalk
  7. I have an AP helmet and armor, and i am really happy about my entire armor setup. That being said, I am having issues with my S-trim for the helmet. I bought some correct trim from this page..--------------- The only problem I an having is, 'which opening is attached to the helmet?'. Should it be the wider opening, or the narrow opening? I would assume that it should be the narrower opening, but i have seen some builds here that used the wider opening. I would think that using the wider opening would cause the trim to fall off more regularly during troops and such. Am I correct, or am I wrong. Please let me know, because this is the last little bit to be added to my bucket for it to be complete.
  8. I highly recommend getting a pair from Joseph..... http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35702-fs-latex-and-silicone-hand-guards-for-level-3/
  9. EIB and Centurion require rubber or silicon hand guards. The plastic ones that come with most kits will only get you approved to troop.
  10. Okay, so the initial question for this topic is the 'thickness' of said cover strips, and I have the same question. HOW THICK SHOULD THE PLASTIC FOR THE COVER STRIPS BE? I have a bunch of spare ABS for my kit, and it is all 1mm thick, which looks pretty thick on the outside of the armor. I also have some .030mm plastic that I wanted to use for the outer cover strips, while using the thicker 1mm stuff for inner bracing. I know the widths are 15.. for arm pieces, then 20mm for the fronts and backs of the thigh pieces and 20/25mm for the calves. I simply wish to know if there is a specific thickness required for the plastic used for the outer cover strips.
  11. I had a can of Gray figure primer from The Armory that I used for my TD. I then just rubbed it with a soft cloth to give it a satin like finish.
  12. I noticed in the pics of the various TDs, the AP has the clips further in than the other two. Was this a mistake, or done at an earlier time before the CRL? Just curious, because I have an AP kit, and noticed that the tube and associated parts are smaller than those of the other kits, or at least appear that way to me.
  13. Mark, when I got the armor from Bill back last Summer, I knew that he had already trimmed one of the forearms. But now that I am actually able to start work on the armor, i have discovered that he had trimmed it down way too small for even me. He trimmed it to the smallest trim line on it, which makes it very very small. Is there any way that you could sell me a spare? I have looked at the second forearm that he didn't trim, and it appears to be able to fit me just fine. So a second one without the trimming already done would be perfect. Please let me know what you would charge for one, if you have a spare two pieces.
  14. Well, it has been a while since I could actually get going on my armor, but I am now deep into the build. My issue is my helmet..... I have gotten it together quite easily, but it will not fit over my head. I know that you have to turn it sideways to get it on, but even then, it cuts my ears and scalp. This is how it looks currently... Now, I am hoping that I can cut the opening enough to be able to get it on with a little more ease, and not such a risk of blood-letting. I an thinking of cutting it along the red line that i have illustrated here.... My main concern is whether or not it will have any bearing on my getting approved, after I make the cut, and apply the S-trim to the bottom. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, if i am not going in the correct direction with my thinking.
  15. Some time in January, February or March. They got plenty of time.
  16. I am going with the Plastidip/cheesecloth method for my helmet. From what I have heard and seen, it adds a good deal of strength to the ABS by using the cheesecloth. It kinda makes it like fiberglass, but without the thickness, weight or heat. Just be sure to work outside, or in a well ventilated area when doing the plastidip application.
  17. For those of you looking for the link to the video tutorial, here it is......
  18. Did you just use a moto tool to rout out the underside of the scope rail? It looks so good! I was considering getting one of these (or two) from Target or Wal-Mart during the Halloween season.
  19. I too would be interested in adding this to my ANH stunt TK, so that I can change it up from time to time. I did notice on the Sideshow figure, that the holster is attached with four rivets and the belt is white canvas like the regular TK armor is done. My only question would be, did they use bits from different trooper armor lying around for the spacetroopers?
  20. I am doing that on the flat straight pieces, and my lexan scissors for the curved parts. Sadly, both of the forearms (both halves) have already been trimmed, and I think I am going to have to put some sort of shim on them to get it to fit.
  21. Okay, so I was finally able to make my first cuts on the armor. I cut the belt boxes out of their frames, along with the main belt and the ammo belt for the thigh. I also trimmed down one half of the left calf. I didn't have a chance to take pictures, but i will post some soon, after I get a little more cut and then I will post as I go on to clean up and sand down these pieces, before I start gluing parts together. I was amazed at how easily the scissors and blades cut through such thick plastic. A friendly warning for my other armor builders.... If you have never built a model, or an armor kit, please be careful and take your time. Fortunately, my experience with vacuum formed model kits, prepared me for this project!!
  22. Mark, As a lifelong model builder, decals have never been that big of a problem; except on very old decals. I use your dish-washing soap idea for a lot of my decals, and I even use a little bit when I airbrush acrylic paints to help the flow of the paint through the brush. I really do appreciate your comments, and I am a permanent fan of your armor! This stuff will make me into an awesome servant of the Empire!!
  23. James, I will be following your build as I begin on my journey to stormtrooper approval. I really like what you did with the PTT system. I did something similar back when I was preparing my Vader, before I had to sell it all.
  24. First off, a big THANK YOU goes to BILLSID29 for selling me this awesome AP armor kit! I just got it this morning, and I am already in love with it. The ABS plastic is a lot thicker than I expected, which will make me feel a lot safer when trimming it and putting it together. Plus it should wear very nicely. Bill sold it because he said it was too small for him, so I expected to have to shim the ab and kidney plates; but I am going to have to trim some off of both for it to fit me right. I will say that I am very pleased with the entire kit so far, but i will need to do a few thing to get it right for 501st approval, and my own happiness. The first is to buy a piece of S-trim for the helmet, since the piece that came with it is the same as the brow trim rubber. Overall, I am thrilled to have my first Stormtrooper armor in my hands! Now to get it built and approved in time for Christmas and the premiere of Rogue One!!
