1. My portable battery charger should be in tomorrow and I'll have more updates on the completed fan system. Until then, I got my iComm and Aker set up in my chest piece and ready to go! I made a sleeve for the amp out of 3" elastic and the velcro'd the front to keep it attached. Velcro is also on the iComm piece itself. I scheduled my first troop for the 19th also! Woot woot!
2. Thank you for sharing that! Bummer. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed, but that sucks. I'll probably have to end up getting something completely different now. Glad you got it worked out though!! I'm not very well-versed in the electrical world. So I'll need something with 2.4Amps or more to kick on two 5v fans? Anything else I should look at as far as specs for a portable battery charger for this?
3. Good call! Please don't blow your head up trying to keep cool. lolol
4. If the new battery doesn't work right, I'm going to buy one of those slim/flat ones and velcro it to the middle-back of the helmet.
5. Nice! I'd love to see that tutorial once you get that all down. Sounds like an awesome idea!
6. I thought about that, but even the one I was testing with wasn't really that bad sitting in the back. The new battery will be a lot less heavy too. I'll have to play around with it once it comes in to find the best placement. Yea, I think I'm just going to keep it foam for now. If I find I need more airflow in the helmet, I'll switch. I don't feel like fighting with the liner while trying to get my head situated just right in the helmet right now.
7. No prob! I know exactly what you mean though. I barely have any room in there either, and it's already tight to put on also. Without the battery, it doesn't take up really enough more space to notice. I'm hoping that with the battery I am ordering, the bracket will still lay snug and that the battery will nestle in well in the curvature of the helmet. This is the one I am ordering. Plus it's only $10 to see. If not, I have an emergency phone charger. https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Lipstick-Sized-Generation-High-Quality/dp/B005X1Y7I2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1467731772&sr=8-4&keywords=external+battery&refinements=p_89%3AAnker
8. Same one I put back on the shelf after pondering it for 20 minutes in the aisle. Lol
9. This is exactly 100% why I am reluctant to try it! Lol I feel like there is so little room in my helmet that getting it on would be a hassle for the same reasons. I guess I'll give it some more thought first.
10. Thanks! Absolutely, manā€¦ Steal, steal, steal! Lol

I'm trying to decide if I want to work on hard hat liner next. I don't really mind the foam that's in there now, but it looks blah to me
11. Thanks! For sure, dudeā€¦ Go for it! This is what I used for the frown mesh lining. I got it at Hobby Lobby for super cheap. I eyeballed the shape of it, and it took a couple of versions, but it makes the inside look a little cleaner, I think. It was an idea I got from JoblessPunk's build.
12. I started on my fan system today. I'm basically all done, but I'm ordering a battery pack that will be more concealing than the one I have now. I went to Home Depot and bought a "For Rent" sign ($8.96 I believe). It ended up being the perfect length for the fan set up I had, and it was sturdy and flexible. I taped off the area I wanted to keep after trimming and made sure the fans had enough top and bottom room also. After I cut out the taped area I began to trim it to shape. The total length is 22ā…›" long. The two ends where the fans go are 2.5" tall, and the middle section is 2" tall. i made sure I was happy with the length. Next I placed the fans in the positions I wanted them to blow. Once they were in place I marked and drilled where I wanted the wires to go. Once I had those markings, I used the bottom of this glass to cut out a semi-circle stencil to round the edges of the bracket. . This is where I started over with a new piece of plastic, because I drilled an extra hole I wasn't going to use and it looked funny. Once I got back to the same step, I sanded the plastic and got the edges to be more round, and ready for plasti-dip. I scored cut-outs to run the wires through to the drilled holes. Next, I plastic-dipped the bracket to match the inside of my bucket and to be less noticeable, the grip it adds is nice too. The fans are velcro'd to the bracket, by the way. The back will look better once I get the battery and get the wiring all situated. The battery I was using was too big in the back, so I am ordering a new one. Once I get the new battery I'll be in really good shape. EDIT: I'll probably be adding a button switch as well.
13. Yes!! That's awesome, Jorge!! CONGRATULATIONS! I figured that was coming soon!
14. Nice! Lol I sold a few drum machines too for my armor. I'm still cool with that trade off.
15. This may help. Scrub to 7:08. Anovos looks like it's bigger to me.
16. That's really very very cool. I didn't realize you were actually doing as much as you have been. I was super impressed! That's great that you were able to salvage that piece too! Whew! I was thinking that the mold/cast could be pricey, but it's way worth it to learn the skill too! I'd seriously love to do an E-11 build now. I would just need to study up on it more as I did with the armor. I know a little about the E-11, but I am sure it has all it's other nuances similar to armor, etc. In my head it's much more involved than the armor/helmet builds... Would you say that's pretty accurate, or is it less involved than I'm thinking?
17. Holy crap, Jim! this is amazing! I didn't realize you went this much "scratch"! Very nice! How difficult was the molding and casting?
18. How well does the battery pack fit in there? Is it pretty compact? I'm going to go check out that part of your thread to see if maybe I missed seeing that.
19. I like the idea of using those clips. I'm going to start working on this over the weekend.
20. I ended up getting some bids on a piece of music equipment I am selling on Ebay... iComm, Amp and possible Hyperfirm B-grade here I come!
