Congrats Eric!  Fantastic build and well deserved.

I had to tame that return edge as well.  I gave it a hot water bath.

Thanks Greg! I'll probably hit it with the heat gun since I don't particularly want to take the two pieces apart at the split riveted seam. lol

Hey Eric, and thank you for your EIB application.

    CRL and EIB Application Requirements:
All the required submission photos have been posted. I am pleased to confirm that your your armour displays and the required components for L2. On behalf of the DO team I would like to congratulate and welcome you to the rank of Expert Infantry :salute:.

    Other-Armor Fit/Assembly:
In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. If any suggestion affects any application, it will be listed separately in the above or below sections

Honestly, there is not a lot to say in this section. You have clearly done your research and made a fine set of armour.

A suggestion for a slightly cleaner look would be to bring those thighs up a little. This will help to reduce the black gaps around the cod and also give you a little more room at the knee, handy for movement.

    FPSv4xR.jpg

As it stands, the top return edge of your ab plate is very thick. We would suggest trimming this back to match your kidney plate. This will bring it more in line with the screen used suits. (Example below)

    kuItQ0j.jpg

    Centurion Suggestions:
In this section we prepare you for Centurion. If there were any areas of concern they would be discussed here. We have a few areas that will need to be resolved before applying for Centurion if you choose to do so. At this point, we cant see any obvious areas of concern. We look forward to seeing your Centurion application soon.

Many congratulations on joining the ranks of EI. Back to your post, trooper... :salute:

Thank you Dan!! Centurion app will be coming very soon for sure!!

And noted on the suggestions, thank you! I've been trying to decide what to do with the appearance on the ab plate return edge, only because the return edge is the same depth compared to the kidney's return edge, it's just the ab return edge is at an upward angle instead of 90*. I may try to heat it and bend it down so it matches. Either way, I'll handle it soon! Thanks again!

I didn’t pay too much attention to them on your earlier pics, but scrolled up to check and I see what you’re talking about. I really doubt you’ll be asked to kit-up; these newer pics definitely show the elastic straps holding the bridges down cleanly.

Yeah, I had to warm the plastic to make it more pliable and then bend the metal strips inside. The elastic straps actually aren't strong enough to affect the reinforced bridges in any way.

Thanks Matt! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

Something I noticed after I posted my application was that I had completely forgotten to bend my shoulder bridges down in the back, but I had not been able to fix that until today. So here are a few supplemental pictures (on my mannequin) showing that it's been done. I would have kitted up but I rushed all of this while my daughter is taking her nap. Hopefully that's ok for something like this. :)

I have completely checked out. When I get a shipping email I'll allow myself to get excited, until then not worth getting my hopes dashed.

This is sort of where I'm at with this preorder too. Lately I'm seeing more and more people report that they bought "in stock" items and they're still waiting for the items quite some time later, some up to two years later. Meanwhile Anovos continues to offer deeper & deeper discounts on "in stock" items. I'm starting to wonder if they're having cash flow problems but I try not to delve too far into assumptions/theories like that. I just hope we see our armor at some point.

Great job!!!!!  the only thing I see is you should narrow down the biceps, to be movie accurate trim off completely the raised edges were abs strip is glued on and reglue strip, the biceps are made a bit bigger to fit the average person, if you look closely at the original movie biceps they had no raised edges like the forearms, thighs and calves.

    Mark (AP)

Mark, I appreciate the suggestion! And I almost did that when I first built the biceps as I saw you suggest it to someone else too, but I'm glad I tried it this way first. When I'm holding a blaster two-handed and one arm is bent, they get pretty tight around the top of the bent arm. I'm not sure I want to make them any smaller as I stand and walk like that a lot.

Really nice build on this armor, Eric!  Fantastic job on trimming the ab-button plates, and the positioning of your TD plate (one of my pet peeves) is spot-on, brother.  One of us will be with you shortly.

Thanks Joseph! Can't wait! The thing about building the TD, I was excited to finally work on something that was mostly symmetrical. Haha!

I'm getting my TK from AP so I'm good for the armor.

Can anyone give advise on good place to find the boots, neck seal, and the black undersuit?

Boots: TK Boots are always recommended, but they have a limited selection of sizes and no plans to produce more.

So the fall back is Imperial Boots which are really good boots too. They are currently taking orders until tomorrow (the 17th), they take orders and produce items in waves, so you'll usually get your boots within about a month.

Neck Seal: I used Darman's Props (very satisfied), but Geeky Pink's are also highly recommended (check them out in the Ongoing Sales section of this forum).

Black Undersuit: You can go a couple ways here, a one piece suit or two piece compression set (think UnderArmor). You just want to make sure it has no logos that are visible when you have the armor on over it. Your favorite sporting goods store or Amazon is your friend if you decide to go with a separate shirt/pants setup.

I'm just about ready to get my kt kit.

I was wondering if anyone has recently ordered anything from AP?

I looked for their webpage but can't find anything.

The only thing I found was the email address authenticprops@hotmail.com.

Wasn't sure if this is only way to get A hold of them.

AP is good stuff! Mark (his screenname here is @ABS80) has a current sale thread listed in the For Sale section here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/45623-ap-trooper-kits-discount-offer/ Quite a few of us recently finished building AP kits, they are very good quality and you will not be disappointed if you go that route.

Good job done on this armor and the submission thread. :duim:

Your strapping seems to be very robust. Nice idea to use magnets.

    Thank you very much!

I'm hoping the strapping lasts a long time. And I love magnets, after borrowing Cricket's idea for the shins I was hunting other places to use them. lol

Well crap, Eric! How the hell am I going to get EIB when you go posting sick pictures like that?! VERY, VERY nice. You even got a professional photo shoot for this? Man.....Your pics look like they can be for an advertisement for Mark’s AP armor. Nice job.

Haha! You're going to get EIB for sure Matt! But thanks a bunch! If you look really closely in the first two pictures you'll see me holding a remote for the camera in my right hand. Haha! Some of the shots turned out like this (stormtrooper aim and all that):

So the base underneath all that is a retired Ford bus (you can sort of see it over the Jawa's shoulder in the picture above). I don't quite remember what they're made of but the panels are attached to the bus via a metal framework system and are removable and all fit inside the bus itself. It's amazing to see in person!!

Why not just use the tried and true Velcro method? I have done troops and even a few charity walks and have never had to worry about my Velcro shins.

The Velcro option works great for a lot of people, but like Cricket I have also handled and fixed a fair amount of shins that popped open during troops (floppy thigh ammo packs are a close second). I've also seen a fair amount of photos posted publicly where the closure has noticeably failed. I will say that if you at least properly align the backs of your shins and/or give them a hot bath so that the Velcro isn't being strained you shouldn't have any issues. Most of the failures I've noted in person is when the back halves of the shins are naturally pulling away from each other.

That said, I'll echo the comments that the magnet closures are basically fire and forget, no assistance needed, no worries of them coming open, and you know they'll look just how you intended them to without any extra effort. And there's just something about them clicking shut around your leg that's kinda fun. :)

Eric- I had a similar thing happen to one of my shins but was on the back of my shin as I was going up steps. But it’s kind of a blessing I disguise as it was some return edge....I just took off the piece that cracked, sanded and called it a day.

Separately, I still haven’t switched out my screws with the ones you sent me lol. I ordered a D ring and they’re just sitting on my work bench waiting..... you’ll get EIB and Centurion I’m sure.

Ah. Yeah, both of these are on the return edge too, just up towards the front instead of the back. I thought about doing something similar to what you did but I'm going to try to keep the edges for now. I'll drill a small hole at the terminus of each crack, reinforce underneath, and fill. May add some reinforcements on the opposing sides too.

Haha! I get how it is with small projects, or any projects for that matter. I got so caught up with trooping I haven't had much time for anything else, I'm enjoying it so much. You'll get EIB and Centurion too!
