  1. Wrong ideas are never good. My shoulder straps are still not shaped with the heat gun, so I have plenty of time to think about how to put them on. We used velcro on my lbf's straps, but they keep falling off. I guess we'll glue them all in the end.
  2. It's a bit drastic to get tattoos only to avoid comments when shopping.
  3. Maybe I should get some fake tattoos for shopping then.
  4. Haha, that's why I never tell them! Btw, I'm now officially a wandering carpet!
  5. I was in a store to buy some special velcro today, and the saleswoman asked me what it was for. I said it didn't matter, I just wanted a look at the velcro. She kept asking what it was for, because it could only be used for carpets! I kept saying it didn't matter, because I knew it would work. "Well, it's only for carpets!" was the reply I got. Again. Why are people so curious of what we are making when we obviously don't want to say it? I often meet tons of questions and raised eyebrows when I tell people that I'm making armour, so I rarely do. Maybe it's because I'm a girl, I don't know. Am I the only one thinking it's a bit rude to almost refuse selling stuff when people won't say what it's for?
  6. Yes, I've ofc used strips on the front, I was wondering about the backside.
  7. I'm building an AP armour, and wonder how I should put the velcro on my calves. I'm making ANH strips like in Stukatroopers tutorial. Do I use strips on the back of the calves, or do I just overlap the pieces like you would on an FX?
  8. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say anything, but I'd hide the parts of the neckseal that is showing by your shoulders. Maybe just tuck it inside your suit or something? I notice it's popping out on top of your back plate too. You look so much better now!
  9. Hehehe, why didn't I think of that myself? Thanks, mate!
  10. I will ofc keep a return edge, I just want it to be the same size all around the piece so that it isn't that revealing that it's fake.
  11. I have done that, but I still have to glue it to the chest, right? I guess the little pad will work best. And only on the chest piece, and not the back piece, ofc. Does anyone glue it to both pieces? Must be terrible to get dressed, and I can't imagine the fun of fitting this into a suitcase.
  12. When you glue the shoulder straps to the chest, do you f.ex glue a little piece of abs inside the end of the strap first? There is so little connection between the chest and the strap because the strap is kind of "hollow". Anyone follow me and know what to do?
  13. Oh my, I'm actually ready to glue something. *faint*
  14. Ahh, nice to hear! I was also glad to hear that my 6'2" lbf with FX armour couldn't touch his shoulders either.
  15. First pic shows my arm stretched, second pic shows how much I can bend my arm. Btw, I can take my helmet on and off, that's maybe just what I need to?
  16. I'm building an AP armour, and my forearms are a bit long to me, I think. They look fine when hold my arm stretched, but I can't f.ex. touch my shoulder. Could you take a look at the pics and tell me if I should trim it more or not? If I have to trim it, I'll have to take off quite a lot (almost an inch) to make the pattern look good. I don't want them to be too small either!
  17. When sanding edges, I use sandpaper 120, 180, 240, 320 and finally 400. Gives it a smooth finish.
  18. The shop you mentioned when I asked for modelling irons have ABS plates in two sizes: 1,5X200X600mm and 2X200X600mm. Wouldn't they work?
  19. Mmmh, I think so too. It just looks silly with a return edge when it is so visible that it's fake.
  20. I'm cutting my AP these days, and the return edges are at some places quite broad. It's not very comfortable to wear, and I wonder if I can take them down a bit? Look at this, f.ex., my back piece: The lower edge on my back piece is way broader than the rest of the return edges on the piece. Cut off a bit or not? Hmmm. (Btw, the lower edge is not sanded or polished!)
