  1. Does anyone have any tips on fitting my noggin into my helmet without my balaclava constantly getting caught on the ear screws and getting my big head all scratched up every time I put on my lid? I trimmed down the screws but I can't for the life of me figure what I can use that will cover them to minimize scratching and catching that will stay on the screw ends. About at the end of my rope here. Any ideas are welcome. It also seems like the one fan I installed (I had planned on two and the one was a test for fitting) drastically reduced my comfort in putting it on, too (now my nose catches every time) and made my head seem just that much bigger. Thank you in advance! Helmet is an AP. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I'm kind of new here but not to forums.... This seems to me to be the wrong venue for this particular discussion. Seems to me that the 501st and its garrisons operate on a level not unlike the US government and then the states: laws can be stricter but not more lenient than that of the government. I personally don't see an issue if a garrison decides to make their basic approval regs stricter for the sake of accuracy. After all, isn't accuracy what the 501st strives for? Maybe I'm wrong in my observations but it just seems to be a little on the petty side to be bickering about who does what and for what reason. I'm here to build a great, accurate costume and troop and put smiles on faces of people I'll likely never see again. Isn't that the game here? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Dude, this is fantastic. Great work and comgratulations Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. How many bananas long is a DLT-19? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Mine should look just like that soon with less trimming and much bigger LoL. Good job, Bro! I'm glad to be learning from you and your wealth of experience, man. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Good luck and let me know how it turns out. Gets cold here in Jersey sometimes lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Sounds stupid but ever consider wearing the heavier cold weather thermals underneath the suit? That's what I used to do when running or skiing. It doesn't add much in the way of bulk and aside from creating a strange checkered texture on the outer layer, it looks just fine. Besides, your armor will cover up any appearance of the texture. 8. You guys are lucky. I got my box yesterday as well but I only had enough time to open it and look before I had to go back to work. Won't even be able to start until Friday [emoji53] good luck to you both! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Is the new AM 2.0 helmet 501st approved or would j need to invest in another helmet? I know that the first run isn't approved, being the "bobble head" but my understanding is that they remade it to fit approval specs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Ok cool. I'm 6'4" and 240 lbs. More built for a Vader which I plan next year but I've always wanted to be a stormtrooper. I'm hoping that length has been added because aside from the AM 2.0 I ordered, I'd like a set of AP and Mark did tell me that he added 3" to parts but I wasn't sure if he made it longer as well. I'm hoping so. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Not enough? How tall are you? I was considering getting one of the new sets after speaking with Mark but I'm 6'4" and now I'm worried and may just forgo it if I have to mod it too much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks! That helps a lot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. What do people use to cover the back of the hovi mic tips? Do people make molds or are the covers available from hobby shops/ retailers? I am trying to cram a lot into my lid but I also want to have as clean a look as possible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I've been looking around but having trouble finding the easiest way to attach a hard hat liner to the inside of my lid. I'd rather do that than use upholstery foam because of the issue of sweating and for was of cleaning. Any suggestions? Pics would be of immense help if anyone has any good ones of the attachment. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I'm going broke too and sad thing is, the wife has no real idea why lol. Shhhhh! Don't say anything!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I was just discussing this at the last troop I was on. I'm so glad you posted this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I just installed mine from UKSWraths this afternoon. They're fantastic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Update: I just couldn't let it go so I went over every bit and found they the solder donut for one of the resistors (the one that was by the wonky capacitor solder I mentioned) had pulled up off the board. Thankfully, the three solders are in line so I just fobbed a bit more solder onto all three and completed that line. About blew out my eardrums in the process. Now all I need to do is figure how to mount the sucker into my helmet and find a place for the mics. I know some people mount them inside the ear cups and drill small holes into the black rank line and others drill holes behind the brow strip. Any suggestions before I go am drilling holes and making huge mistakes on my bucket? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Well, I failed. I think I know what went wrong.... One of the soldering of a capacitor was wonky so I'm going to try to get another one tomorrow and give it another shot. If I fail again, I hear there is someone here that makes them. I'll look for him then. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Thanks. I was hoping that would work and I wasn't the only one to think of making it look like the picture lol. I just don't want to put any of the polarized components in backwards. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I'm not the greatest with electronics but I can solder with the best of them. Does anyone have a thread with a walkthrough on the components and building the super ear from radio shack? I don't want to build it incorrectly. Any help would be fantastic! Thanks!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I never thought I could both dread AND be so excited about building anything until I saw so many boxes of armor getting opened up and posted. It looks so daunting. Still, I can't wait for my box of goodies gets here. I'm waiting for my AM 2.0 to arrive. Should be a week or so. Good luck, bro! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
